It's strange to think that after 2 years the house looks exactly the same, I thought as I sat in Lana's blue Corvette. The shades were down, all the lights were off and the windows looked a little dusty but it still looked exactly how we left it.
"Rae," Lana nudged my shoulder "You sure your okay, you look a little pale." I turned to look at her, but my vision was a little blurred. I squinted a few times until they cleared up. "Lana I told you I'm fine, just let it go okay". I snapped out. I don't know what's wrong with me I've never yelled at her before, even when we were dating and we argued I never raised my voice to her. I could tell she was startled because she jumped back a little, and her eyes were wide with hurt. Inside I felt a little bad but I couldn't bring myself to care.
I took off my seat belt and got out the car moving towards the trunk to get my suitcases while Lana let the dogs out the car. As I started towards the handle a wave of dizziness hit me, I slumped against the car to catch my balance. What the fuck is wrong with me.
I felt Lana's hand on my lower back supporting me "Rae?" I felt her breath on the back of my neck, it made the hairs stand up on end. I turned around and looked into her eyes, my eyes zeroed into her pupils they looked as if they had a light pink hue swirling around them ".. Lan," I whispered " What? your eyes.." before I could finish my sentence barking interrupted my train of thought.
I turned towards my dogs when I saw a flash of bright red, it looked the girl from the airports hair, but I knew that couldn't be her, I was probably just hallucinating. " Rachel , what were you going to say?" Lana asked. I looked at her just remembering that she was here. I then realized our positions.
"Nothing ," I replied. "I'm just tired can you help me get my bags in the house please." She nodded before grabbing the handle of a suitcase and moving towards the house. I just need this day to be over I sighed.
After everything was settled in and Lana left I decided I would start cleaning the house. I was just taking out the trash in the backyard when I felt it. Someone watching me, the skin on the back of my neck prickled, the hairs raised again. There was a slight breeze with it brought the smell of vanilla and jasmine. I turned my nose towards it when I saw her. Blue eyes.
