-Under the Stars-

Link, Toad, and Yoshi lay on the grass right outside the jungle, looking up at the stars together. Since it was nighttime, it was unlikely any of Ganondorf's hunters would bother them. Yoshi asked his friends, "Hey guys, you ever wonder what those dots up there are?"

"You mean the stars?" Link asked, confused why he wasn't familiar with the proper term. Yoshi nodded, replying, "Yea, what are they?"

"It's obvious," Toad said, "They're fireflies."

"Fireflies?"

"Yeah, they're fireflies that flew up too high and got stuck in that big black part of the sky,"

"Oh," Yoshi said, "I always figured they were big balls of gas burning millions of miles away."

"Yoshi, with you, everything comes down to gas," Toad said jokingly, resulting in the two laughing. Link smiled uncomfortably with them, inevitably being reminded of his first discussion about the stars. Toad turned to the lion and asked, "So Link, what do you think they are?"

"Oh, I don't know," Link shifted uncomfortably, "I guess either of you could be right."

"Aww come on," Yoshi insisted, "You must think something."

Link sighed and answered, "Well, someone told me a long time ago that they're the kings of old, who always watch over us and are there to guide us."

"Really?" Toad said, surprised, "Who told ya that?"

Link sighed again, saying, "Someone I failed."

Link then stood up, walking away. Toad called after him, "Hey Link, where are ya going?"

Link ignored this and continued walking away. Toad and Yoshi exchanged concerned looks as Yoshi asked, "What's been up with him the past couple days? He acts so absent minded."

Toad shrugged, unsure what to say of his friend's odd behavior.

Link walked further until he reached a cliff, and saw he could walk no further. He sighed, looking up at the stars, knowing his father was up there. He began to confess, "I'm sorry, father… I know I failed, and that I'm a coward for not going back to face justice. I just… I'm not like you. I'm not brave, or strong, or wise, or great or… anything worthwhile. I am nothing."

He slumped to his knees, causing some flowers to get kicked up and get caught in the wind. Link watched as the wind blew them away, not giving much thought to where they might go.

The wind carried these flowers for many days, northward to the edge of the Pride Lands. There stood the Tree of Life, the tree in which Toadsworth resided, the last tree in the Pride Lands that had not withered away. Toadsworth sat in the tree, depressed at how decimated the Pride Lands had gotten. The flowers flew into his hands, and he looked down at them, confused.

"These are not from the Pride Lands…" He observed. He then sniffed them and concluded, "They are from a jungle to the south…"

His eyes widened and exclaimed, "It's a sign!"

He rushed over to a bowl, dropping the flowers in. He quickly crushed them up into powder and took another sniff. He then exclaimed, "Link! He's alive!"

A smile appeared on his face for the first time in many years and he rushed over to the line of rulers smiling as he looked upon the drawing of Link. He said to himself, "It is time."

Yeah, i know it's another short chapter, but hope everyone's enjoying it anyway. Also, warriorcatgirl, sorry i didn't get to "can you feel the love tonight" but I promise that's the next chapter. Until then, peace!
