-"You'll be in my heart"-
Roy sat on a rock, sharpening his rapier. His face was etched with anger as he fumed. His fury seemed so set in his face it seemed like a permanent part of him. He thought to himself, "Finally… after all these years, I will finally have my revenge. I will bring justice to my traitor brother and avenge my father."
"Son…" Roy heard. He looked behind him and saw his mother standing there. He sighed as he replied, "Hello, mother…"
"We need to talk Roy," Peach said. Roy sighed again and asked, "About?"
"You. For years now you've let yourself be corrupted by Scar, and let your anger dominate you,"
"Corrupted?" Roy scoffed, "I expected you wouldn't understand."
"Understand what?" Peach demanded, "Roy, this isn't a good way to live. Living your whole life in anger will only end with you destroying yourself."
"You wouldn't be saying that if you knew what I know," Roy accused.
"I would know if you'd tell me,"
"I can't. Listen, despite what you and all the other traitors might think, Scar is a good king, and is better for the Pride Lands than anyone else would be!"
"Traitors?" Peach asked, deeply hurt by her son's words.
"Yes, traitors," Roy affirmed, standing up, "Scar is the rightful king, and if anyone says differently, they are a traitor!"
"If he was the rightful king, why would the Circle of Life be thrown so out of balance?"
"Maybe because it's time to move past the Circle! We need to put our faith in something better than stupid superstition!"
"Roy, listen-"
"You listen! I'm done with all this, and I'm going to do right by my father, with or without your consent," Roy barked at her, then stormed off. Peach teared up as she watched the young lion walk away. Slow music started playing as she sang, "Come stop your crying, it will be alright. Just take my hand, hold it tight."
She then flashbacked a decade and a half ago, when Roy was just a young cub, and had woken up crying one night. Whenever he did, she would hold him and sing him this lullaby. "I will protect you from all around you. I will be here, don't you cry.
"For one so small, you seem so strong. My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm. This bond between us can't be broken. I will be here, don't you cry.
"'Cause you'll be in my heart. Yes, you'll be in my heart. From this day on, now and forever more, you'll be in my heart. No matter what they say, you'll be here in my heart, always."
This made her remember when she herself was a young lioness, talking with her late husband, Mario. His father had disapproved of them being together, and had convinced several other lionesses to join him in trying to talk Mario out of pursuing their relationship. Mario sang to her on this, "Why can't they understand the way we feel? They just don't trust what they can't explain. I know we're different but deep inside us, we're not that different at all. And you'll be in my heart. Yes, you'll be in my heart. From this day on, now and forever more. Don't listen to them. 'Cause what do they know (what do they know)? We need each other, to have, to hold. They'll see in time, I know."
Peach cried harder as she remembered this, and sang in reference to Roy as she remembered her husband singing to her, "When destiny calls you, you must be strong (you gotta be strong). I may not be with you, but you've got to hold on. They'll see in time, I know, we'll show them together. 'Cause you'll be in my heart. Yes, you'll be in my heart. I'll be there from this day on, now and forever more.
"Oh, you'll be in my heart (you'll be here in my heart). No matter what they say (I'll be with you). You'll be here in my heart (I'll be there), always, always, I'll be with you. I'll be there for you always, always and always. Just look over your shoulder, just look over your shoulder, just look over your shoulder, I'll be there always."
Peach then fell to her knees and sobbed into her hands as she cried, alone.
