-Scar of the Hyenas-
Link, Zelda, Toad, Yoshi and Toadsworth made their way up the hill as gloomy clouds loomed overhead. The grass was dead and black, feeling so rough beneath their paws. This made Link nervous, as he prepared himself for the worst as he reached the top of the hill and looked out over the Pride Lands. But, prepare himself as he might have, no amount of preparation in the world would be suitable for what he saw.
The dark clouds loomed over the entire kingdom, getting darker and darker closer towards the center. Link could clearly see all grass was gone, and the soil left behind was dark and unfruitful. The few trees still standing were withered and dead. Not a single life form could he see, save for an occasional group of hyenas looming the land, looking for what little life might remain. All the streams and rivers were dried up, all the small gorges looking like scars on the land, scars left by the destruction of the hyenas. Off in the distance, Link could see Pride Rock, over which hung clouds black as a nightmare. The rock itself looked stained black, as if covered in ash. Link looked over the land in horrible shock, muttering, "It's worse than I could ever have imagined…"
"I know…" Zelda comforted him, standing at his side, "But you can change this. Dethrone Scar and the Circle of Life will return to balance."
"It won't be easy," Link said, "We'll have to go up against the entirety of his forces, which means every single hyena."
"That's not even the whole story," Toadsworth said sadly, "The hyenas have increased in population 3 times over since you've left, which is how they were able to consume all the natural resources."
Link let this sink in, knowing hyenas matured 3 times the speed of most animals. He asked, "Which of the old armies can we call on to help us?"
"Only the lionesses. The leopards were all imprisoned in the Elephant Graveyard for an attempted uprising, and the rhinos were greatly hunted by the hyenas and pushed out westwards. All others are too diminished and too weak to aid us."
Link's head and heart sunk at this news. There was no way the lionesses could fight off all those hyenas on their own. Unless…
Link shoot up, "I have an idea! Follow me!"
He then began to race down the hill as the others followed, Zelda calling out, "Link! Where are we going?"
"To get the only other people who can help us!" Link answered as he continued running.
Meanwhile, on the balcony of Pride Rock, Scar, King more of the Hyenas than Lions, looked out at the distance, knowing Link would soon come.
