Chapter 8

JPOV

It has been 2 days since the conversation in Carlisle's study. We all anxiously await Bella's awakening, some more than otheres. Edward has'nt left Bella's side not since Jacob has been here everyday doing what he thinks is protecting has not hunted and I have only hunted once so far, and that was comes and goes, he leaves only when he must change clothes or go on patrol other times he is always here killing my sense of smell with his stench.

We are all in Carlisle's study again the three mythical creatures fighting for one girls love. I feel like I'm in a romantic novel, ugh." She should wake soon, why dont you all go change your clothes and hunt" Carlisle suggested in the door way of the of us answer at the same time, "NO" we say to together. None of us would risk leaving her side when she should awaken any second now.

" All of you will destroy her trust with this nonesense. Let her decide without you guys making it into a competition. Because I can garantee you that if she saw this she would rather spend eternity alone" Carlisle said before leaving.

I felt a tremendious amount of guilt now, I knew Carlisle was right and yet I behave like this when Alice is still suffering because of my actions. We must stop this.

" Edward, Jacob, we should stop this. Carlisle is right, we are behaving like children and I doubt Bella will apprciate it. We should just wait it out" I stated.

" You have got to be kidding military. Why would we give up? Are you trying to make us back out so you can be here and get her when she wakes up?" Jacob said.

" No, I just think we should approach the situation in a different way thats all" I nearly growled at him.

" Both of you are completely insane if you think I'm giving her up" Edward said.

" Fine, I'm trying to help here. We all love her yes but we can't do this this way. It will surely confuse and destroy her emotionally" I urged.

"So what do you propose we do now?" Jacob asked.

" Take a break and stop this" I said but what we heard next shocked us all.

" Stop what?" a musical voice said.

Before Bella became a vampire

Jacob POV

I have'nt seen Bella since the last time she came to see me in La Push and I told her how I felt. We've talked on the phone and cleared things up and were still friends but something about her being around those blooodsuckers has be uneasy. Not only do I love Bella but she is also and will forever be my best friend. And I don't wanna lose her at I'm out patroling with Leah, Embry, Seth, and Quil. We were just searching the grounds, doing a manditory perimeter check as Sam calls it trying to sound smart and educated.

"Hey, Jake can you lower it down about the Bella issues man. I mean she is'nt your imprint dude" I heard Quil say.

" Dude, back off please. Sorry bout the images but I can't help it. Its not helping me by you rubbing it in my face" I said. I know it gets on there nerves me thinking about her. Especially Leah but seriously if she complimented on it she would be a hypocrite.

" Quil's right Jake, she isn't your imprint but we can see you care about her a lot. Why don't you go see her, man. Maybe if you see that she is alive and kicking you could concentrate on doing what you were born to do" Embry said.

I appreciate Embry's feed back. He is right I could be screwing up my job as a pack member because I cant get my mind off of her. I have to see her, just to make sure that she is safe and okay.

" Thanks Embry, that really helped man" I told him.

"Now dont go getting all sentimental on me man. Your gonna make me puke. But your welcome" he said and we all laughed except Leah. She is wound up so making sure everyone was okay with me leaving and them taking over patrolling. So once I said good-bye to everyone I headed toward the Cullens house knowing she would probably be there instead of at Charlie's I saw the house I an up to the door anxious to see my best friend.

I knocked on the door and Carlisle opened it and greeted me." Hello Jacob, its nice to see you. But I'm afraid that if you are here to visit Bella you cannot see her" he told me. I could tell by his voice that something was going on here and it involved Bella. If it involves her I wanna know about it.

" What do you mean. doc? What's going on that's got you so stressed? If it involves Bella I wanna know about it" I stared at me for awhile before he let me in and sat me down in the kitchen away from the other family members. I was kinda confused about what could possibly happen so I couldn't see Bella but the girl does run with vampires.

Anything is possible, which is what scares Carlisle sat me down and pulled up a seat in front of me he started to tell me about what happened before I told me about how he saw Bella move in front of Edward's fist to protect Jasper. And how she got hurt and that he tried everything medically to revive her but nothing worked so he turned to more supernatural methods.

" So your telling me that Bella is gonna become a...a vampire" I choked on the word. The one thing I feared was her becoming one of them and now she will be because she tried to be a hero. That's Bella, trying to save things not worth saving.

" Yes, Jacob she is going through the transformation as we speak" he informed me. It was shocking to know that she was going through something like that alone, especially since Carlisle told me how unpleasant it was. But what I didn't get is why all this happened? What made Edward turn against his brother? This I had to know.

" Carlisle I have one more question, why did all this happen?" I asked him. He looked shocked and a little hesitate to answer the question but he did.

" Well that is a long story, but seeing as how I have a secret I need to get off my chest I will confide in you Jacob. But I'm afraid I will have to ask you to keep it under raps until I am ready to share it" he requested.I agreed with a nod and Carlisle told me about how he knew Jasper was feeling something for Bella and didn't inform anyone about it. Instead he kept it to himself after telling Jasper to get his feelings what he is basically saying is that Jasper told Bella and Edward along with the pixie vampire caught them in a way to intimate embrace. So Jasper and Edward must have gotten into it so Bella interfered before anything could happen.

" I'm sorry Carlisle I know Edward was pissed at Jasper but he should have stopped himself from hitting Bella and now she is gonna become what he is. And she will have to live like that for eternity. Sorry Carlisle I don't mean to disrespect your family but this is'nt what I wanted for my best friend. Our for the girl I love" I stated to him.

" I know Jacob and I am sorry but this was the only solution" Carlisle said. But sadly I only heard him say I'm sorry because my rage took over.I ran out of the kitchen and went with my gut instinct to check up stairs for that bloodsucker Edward. He will die for what he did to her. I found Edward in the doc's study but he wasn't alone. Jasper was with him too.

They were having a what seemed to be a heated conversation so I decided to let my presences be known by intervening.

" He loves her, that's what he has to do with this" I looked shocked and I couldn't quite tell what emotion was on Jasper's face.

" What are you doing here, Jacob?" Edward asked, not looking at me at all. He just continued to stare at a still Bella lying on a hospital table. All of my anger came back once I saw her on the table and Edward so close to her after injuring her. He was the one who put her on that table.

" I'm here to make sure you don't lay a finger on her again. Look at what you did to her" I said pointing to Bella. He flinched at my words and I could feel a small smile on my face but it still didn't calm my anger.

" I know what I did. And I will regret it for the rest of my existence. I love her I never wanted to hurt her" he stated. he sounded like he was in tremendous pain. The word agony was written all over his face.

" I hope she never forgives you for the rest of her existence. You don't deserve her. She was always suppose to be with me" I spat at a flash Edward was up and out of his seat in my face and my anger was to its peek now. I had to calm down before I exploded into the big fur ball I really was inside. I didn't want to phase so close to was growling in my face and I was ready to rip his head off when I felt this strange calming sensation come over me.

My anger quickly subsided somewhat but I was still then intervened and separated me and Edward, " Cool it gentlemen! This is doing nothing for Bella or our current situation. So I suggest you just put aside your difference and your anger and resentment so we can all be here for Bella once she wakes up" Jasper enough he was right and so Edward and I stepped away from each other before someone got hurt.

We both tried to calm down." Fine I will calm down and forget about this for Bella's sake but once she wakes up, I will kill you for hurting her" I said and turned to leave.

" I welcome it" I heard Edward say before I walked down the stairs. I said my good-byes to the family and retreated to the door with Carlisle following in my foot steps.

" Sorry about walking out on you doc, that was rude" I stated.

" Its fine Jacob, thank you for letting my confide in you" Carlisle said to me.

" No problem doc, just don't expect it too much. I don't really do heart to heart chats with guys that often" I said and laughed along with Carlisle.

" Thanks again, Jacob. I hope to see you soon" Carlisle stated.

" You will doc, you will" I said before leaving out the door.I phased and ran back to La Push, I made sure to not think about how Bella is in the mist of the vampire transformation. if they knew it would be a lot of trouble ahead and I cant handle that right now. Not until I have everything else straightened out.

What I do know is that I will be back, I'm not leaving Bella. I will not leave my best friend that is what I do know.
