Hey everyone I am so sorry I haven't been posting but here is the next chapter! XOXO
He entered the squad room with his shoulders slumped, and his feet dragging behind him. "Wild night, Boss?" Tony asked with a grin on his face when he saw his boss walk into work 5 minutes late.
"Something like that." Gibbs replied sharply. Tony decided to stay out of it and get back to his paperwork.
Ziva strode over to her Boss' desk and whispered, "How are you feeling today, Gibbs?"
"Fine." He said as if it was his automatic reply to everything. Ziva eyed him carefully before walking back to her desk. She knew that he wasn't 'fine'.
Around noon, Tony walked back into the bullpen with pizza for everyone. He walked over to Gibbs' desk. Good thing he bought Gibbs a coffee because his boss looked as if he could fall asleep while writing. "Here ya go, Boss." He smiled as he handed over the strong smelling black coffee.
Gibbs looks at said coffee, and then to Tony. "You can have it."
And those were the words that caused the earth to stop spinning.
"Are, are you sure Boss?" Tony asked, question written all over his face.
"I'm sure," He said as he stood up. He could feel the intense stares around him. "I'm going to check on Abby." And with that, he left.
"Hey Abbs." Gibbs said as he entered the lab.
He was greeted with goth eyes staring back at him. "What is wrong with you?" She said sharply.
"Excuse me?" he asked.
Abby huffed as if it was obvious. "McGee just called, you gave your coffee to Tony?"
"Oh yeah, that," he said trying not to sound too nervous. "I, I already had a lot this morning, and uh, I'm trying to cut back on the caffeine. Doctor says it's bad for my recovery." He rambled.
"Bull-"She was interrupted by the ringing of Gibbs' cell phone.
"Gibbs," he answered, silently thanking the Gods for the interruption. He listened to the other end and saw Abby trying to hear what it was about. "Okay, I'll be right there." He said. He stepped towards Abby, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and left before she had time to say anything.
As he entered autopsy, he heard the unmistakable sound of Ducky talking to one of his bodies.
"I recall a time when I was about six or seven," he started. "I was accompanied by a group of friends and we were off to the town. My mother specifically told us ,'Do not go into that lake young man.'-
Gibbs decided to cut him off there. "Hey Duck."
Ducky was startled and turned around. "Ah, Jethro how are you?" He asked washing his hands and drying them off.
"I'm good." He lied.
Ducky smiled and walked toward his friend. "Okay let us have a quick look at those stitches." He said as he checked to make sure everything was in order. "Everything looks good. How is the pain?" He asked.
"It's manageable." He shrugged.
"Yes well remember those pain meds the doctor gave you. They are supposed to help you." Ducky reminded him.
Gibbs thanked his old friend and left to go back work.
By the time Gibbs got home is was already midnight. It was a very long day and the fact that he had no caffeine all day did not help.
He walked to his front door and found a note taped to the window. It read;
Special Agent Gibbs,
I am glad to see that you have followed the orders given to you. It was very enjoyable to watch all of NCIS go silent and to hear the news spreading like wild fire about how you denied a cup of coffee in front of your team. Word of advice, the least you could have done was accept it and pretend to drink it for their sake. Or you could have just ignored my order and drank the coffee. But that would be cheating now wouldn't it Agent Gibbs? If you thought today was bad, just wait for tomorrow.
Sweet Dreams- I'll be watching
PLEASE please review it means everything to me! I promise the next chapter will not be this short. Please let me know what you thought, I need to know if it is worth continuing.
