Chapter 22

BPOV

Carlisle gave me a package of human blood hours before we boarded the plane which soothed the pain and eventually; after my 4th bag, it subdued all together. I was fully conscious then and could walk somewhat but Edward carried me on the plane anyway. We flew to Volterra since that was the quickest way there for us vampires but for humans it was the only way.

Carlisle came over once in awhile to exam where the baby was and if I had any more pain I would get another bag of blood.

"Any pain, Bella?" Carlisle asked for the millionth time. I shook my head thinking he was a worry wart.

"I am fine, Carlisle. I'm still trying to get it through my head that there is something in there" I said looking a my growing stomach. Another thing was the more blood I drank the bigger my stomach got.

Naturally I was by Edward the entire time telling him how worried I was when he got captured then things got quite and he had this ghost like expression on his face.

"How do you feel about it" I said looking down afraid to look at his facial expression.

"Feel about what?" he asked confused by my random question in the uncomfortable silent's between us.

"The baby" I whispered. I looked at him then and couldn't tell what was going through his mind. Was he worried? Excited? Did he even want children? My mind had pages of questions and thoughts about his baby yet he hasn't said a word since we boarded the plane.

"Bella, people like us aren't suppose to have children. I don't know what to think about this. I want to be happy but this child or thing could kill you. I couldn't live with that nor will I let what ever killed you live." he responded. I looked down again contemplating what he said and if this baby could kill me. Would Edward actually kill his own son\daughter?

"Were here, everyone" Alice said. Everyone gathered up their belongings as we landed at the airport. As soon as our car showed up we went to the house that Carlisle had bought a long time ago just in case we wanted to stay the night in Volterra. After we all settled in and got use to the house we decided it was time to go see Caius so we can get some answers.

EPOV

Carlisle just left Bella and I to tell us that they were about to go see Caius. I told Bella to stay in bed, the pain she experienced back at the house was off and on since we landed and her stomach grew more. Everyone thought it was best if she just stayed at the house and rest while someone stayed with her.

Bella just got situated in bed when she grabbed my hand and motioned for me to sit next to her. " Edward, don't make me stay here myself. I'll die of boredom and I need to know what's happening when you go see Caius" she begged. She was sweating and had bags under her eyes, a clear sign that she was getting worse fast. It hurt more than words could explain to see my Bella in such pain and not being able to do a damn thing about it.

"No, you must stay here and get some rest. We'll update you if something happens-" she cut me off clearly reluctant to stay here.

"What if you guys need me, my power? You'll be defenseless without it. Let me go-ouch!" she exclaimed. I held her hand as I wiped the sweat off her forehead. I looked at her stomach and through her shirt I saw something move. For the first time in nearly a hundred years I was scared.

She clutched her stomach like she was trying to protect it. I watched as she squirmed and screamed in pain. I held her hand through it and tried to sooth her the best way I knew how.

"Carlisle!" I called behind my shoulder, I wasn't leaving her side. Less than thirty seconds later Carlisle was in the room examining her and that thing destroying her. She was screaming and crying, I knew she was in a lot more pain than I could imagine. I don't know what to do. The only thing on this planet earth that could help her is Caius and he was playing games with us. We needed to get to Caius and we needed to get our answers immediately.

The pain for Bella's suffering soon turned into a insatiable rage to get Caius. I kissed Bella's hand and stood up then swiftly walked out of the room, when I got to the stairs I broke out into a sprint in vampire speed. I would get my answers. I jumped over the river and was past the cottage when I heard others footsteps. I slowed down to tell my family that I needed to do this alone.

"Stop!" I told them as they ventured closer, I knew they could hear me. "I'm doing this by myself. I don't need you guys." I told them all.

"Edward, I know you want to help Bella but-" Alice started but I interrupted her.

" But what, Alice?! She's my wife and I don't want to help her I NEED to help her! Its my job to protect her and I failed! Whatever that thing is growing inside her is killing her and I wont let it!" I nearly screamed. They had no idea how I felt and what this was doing to me physically, emotionally, and mentally. This "baby" is destroying my relationship with my wife. Its taking my Bella away from me.

Alice tried to step forward to comfort me but Jasper held her back, "Give him a minute." he said as he studied me.

"You want answers Edward, we know that. But we do too. Bella is not just some mortal girl you were dating. She's apart of this family and she is a vampire now. We all want to help her but you of all people need to be there for her and your baby" I cringed at Esme's last words.

Carlisle came over to me and gave me a hug. "Everything is gonna be ok, son" he told me. Once he let go everyone else joined in though I didn't return any of their hugs. I felt dead inside. Helpless. Useless.

Bang! Boom! We all turned our heads to the house as we heard the noise. My instant thought was Bella. Everyone came after me instead of staying with her. I raced back to the house to my Bella. I started to worry and wonder what happened to her. As I neared the house I tried to listen to any thoughts to see if anyone was here. I got nothing. I busted open the front door and ran to her room and saw that the bed was flipped over. The dresser was in pieces and clothes were all over the place. Our wedding picture was chattered. Everyone came in and expected the room. It smelled like a vampire did it but probably with a human companion. I was by the open window when I saw a letter. It read:

Dear Cullen's,

Your precious Bella is with me and so is her unborn offspring. Come after her and I will kill her. I told you before that this abomination cannot live so I'll take care of it myself if your too…weak to do it. Since I have gone against my brother I need to have my own personal guards and Alice and Edward would be perfect. Come see me and agree to join me and Bella shall go free but minus the thing inside her.

Caius

About an hour had passed since Bella disappeared. Caius has Bella. That was the only thing going threw my mind. He had my wife. He was going to kill her if Alice and I didn't deliver ourselves as his personal guards. Bella is in pain right now. A pain I couldn't even imagine and I have no idea what's happening to her.

I was going out of my mind with worry. I was thinking of every possible bad thing that could possible happen to her while she wasn't with me. The images I mustered up were driving me to the brink of insanity. I was so so very worried about her. I would give anything for her to be safe again.

"Edward?" my father's voice brought me back to reality. I was sitting on the sofa in the living room of the suite in the hotel with my hands propped up on my knees and my head buried in my hands. The letter was on the wood coffee table in front of me staring me in the face. The words, "I will kill her" haunted me. I didn't know what to do. I was so torn.

"Edward, what does the letter say? What does Caius want?" he asked and everyone else was there with him. Looking at me, expecting an answer. The only person who knew what I was going through was Jasper though he didn't know the details of the letter.

Just as I was about to say something the door flew open and in entered Jason- who we thought was in Seattle to gather some things and do personal stuff. At least that's what he told the family.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I said, my voice filled with venom. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jasper stiffen. I was glaring at Jason now, most of our problems started the moment he showed up.

"I just came home from my business in Seattle. What's going on? Everyone looks like they just came back from a funeral." Jason stated observing everyone's faces. He walked in and closed the door behind him. He walked over to stand next to Emmett who was leaning against the wall near the TV.

Ignoring Jason I started telling everyone about the letter and what it stated. Everyone was silent for awhile, then thinking about what to do next was on everyone's mind including my own.

"Wait, Bella is gone? What happened?" he said. He started to get anxious and was just getting more on my nerves.

Have to get her out! I got to get her back! We just started to talk and get to know one another! I think we should do what this Caius says and.." I heard Jason rant in his mind.

After I awhile I leapt up off the sofa in vampire speed and ran at him slamming him against the wall. My hands were around his throat cutting off his air. I felt at least six different pairs of hands on me trying to pry me off of him. I just kept squeezing harder and harder. I had had enough of this prick.

"Edward! Let him go! Now!" I heard Emmet shout to me. After a minute they had me off of Jason and on the other side of the room. Emmett was holding me back along with Carlisle. Jasper was next to Carlisle trying to calm me down but it wasn't working.

The girls were helping Jason off the floor.

"What the hell is your problem?!" he yelled after fixing his clothes. "You didn't even let me finish the thought I had before you jumped me, jackass" he stated. He was rubbing his throat and jaw.

"You said that Alice and I should go and do Caius bidding so you can flirt with my wife!" I yelled at him. I was struggling against Emmett's arms.

"She's your fiancée actually, you guys aren't married." Jasper stated, a little too happy about the fact that Bella was still just my fiancée.

"Yet" I nearly hissed at him threw gritted teeth. I wanted to crack his neck. Though Jasper rarely showed it, he really wants to talk to Bella and tell her that what he said in the woods months ago was just for my benefit and not the truth.

"Technicalities. What I was going to say before you so rudely interrupted me was that we should set a trap. Act like were sending you and Alice when really we'll be setting a trap for them once they release Bella." he stated. I suppose that was his plan for getting Bella back and not letting Alice and I be trapped like pawns in Caius's game with his brother.

"That sounds sloppy and not very organized. You'll get us killed." Jasper said matter-of-factly.

"Look, it has some holes but with your help we could come up with a solid plan to get everyone out alive and possible lowering Caius's numbers in the process." Jason stated looking at Jasper, Emmett, Carlisle and I.

"At least he came up with a plan. Everyone else around here was just sulking cause Bella is gone. Lets do it, but Jasper and Edward you'll have to work with the kid. Fill the holes in his plan" said Rosalie.

I looked at Jasper and we both had a face that said, "You have got to be kidding me".
