Sorry about the lack of updates. But you know, school, homework, even more work, story planning and all that. But anyway, let the 6th chapter of my first fanfic of minecraft begin!
Chapter 6: Path to the exit of the cave
Part 1: A strange human… mob?
The sun was setting in the orange sky. Streaks of white clouds floated past the sky. The landscape of the outside world looked like a large painting of the sunset. In that painting, something was out of place. A large green object was sitting on the edge of a cliff. It uttered a low and menacing growl. This… 'Thing' people call it looked like a zombie. Or, more like, the zombie version of the hulk. Yes my friend, this 'Thing' is one of the most powerful and frightening mob that shouldn't even exist: The mutant zombie. But, there was something even more strange sitting right on top of this mutant beast. There was a little girl sitting on the zombie's head. She had blonde hair with green eyes and she wore a pink shirt with a pink ball around each of her shoulders. Her big skirt was a checkered pink and white. And on her head was an adorable pink sun hat for her adorable head. But this girl had something that wasn't so adorable, a long 16-inch iron sword on her waist, pointing behind the mutant zombie. The two of them at there, watching the sun go down together. Even the mobs that were spawning ran away, because they knew what would happen if they got too close.
Once a short while of silence has passed, the little girl finally yawned. The mutant zombie snorted in response.
"Now, now Igur" the little girl said to the mutant zombie, "It's nothing. I just yawned, that's all."
Igur responded with a soft growl. The little girl gave a warm smile and patted the mutant zombie's head. Igur gave a soft grrr…. as the girl patted his head. They were an oddball team together, and yet they alone were feared by so many.
The little girl looked up to the sunset and gave a long suffering sigh. Igur inquired with a growl.
"Oh, it's nothing Igur," The little girl said assuringly, "I'm just a little frustrated that master had us go out here and look for this 'chosen one' that he's so scared of. Maybe that's why he wants us to kill him…"
Igur made a series of growls explaining to the little girl what she already knew.
"Yeah I know but… *sigh* …why couldn't he have sent someone else instead?"
Igur growled some more.
"You're having fun with this, aren't you?" the little girl asked. When Igur didn't reply, the girl bonked him on the head with her sword.
"Stupid." she said with a laugh.
Igur then made a few whimpers to the little girl.
"What's wrong big guy?" she asked. Then she looked up and saw the sky darkening and the sun taking a break for the night. Once she realized it was almost night, Igur stood up with his huge arms on the ground like he was some giant green monkey.
"Let's go." The little girl said, and instantly Igur turned and stomped away. The little girl went into her mind as Igur went down the cliff. She really hoped that this trip wouldn't be too boring. Maybe she and Igur would be able to destroy some stuff while they're at it.
I wonder though, the little girl thought, what does this chosen one look like? Master didn't really say anything specific, he just said to find him and kill him. I wonder; would this chosen one guy pick up a good fight? I hope that he'll make it fun before we finish him off. Oh well, until then you'd better watch out whoever you are, wherever you are! Kinkajou and Igur will show you what it means… to be really afraid.
Her mutant zombie stomped as it headed for the trees. Meanwhile, down just below them, was a cave with a tiny entrance. But that one cave led to the same one Cody and his friends were taking their Great Mine Adventure.
Inside of the cave, a waterfall roared as it went down. The water then traveled down and down below the cave, changing paths as it went deeper into the surface. It then leads to a clearing where the water flowed calmly downstream. A young man flowed unconsciously with the river…
In a dark cavern, a river flowed peacefully through the darkness. A young man with orange hair floated on top of the river as it went downstream. The young man had suffered a great fall. All of his items were lost in the ice cold water. Then the young man bumped into something, which made him stop moving with the river. Something grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him up out of the water.
Fire burned on a torch. Everything was still and quiet. The young man was resting on a ledge. A green finger poked his cheek, and it twitched. The finger poked him again and this time the young man groaned. Cody slowly opened his eyes. His body still felt a little numb after the fall. After he had opened his eyelids, the first thing he saw was a small green face of a girl staring down at him, smiling. Cody gave a small yelp of surprise.
"Oh good" the girl said, "You're awake. I thought you were dead."
Cody thought he was dead when his head collided with cobblestone. He made a yell of pain and grabbed his forehead.
"Ack…!" Cody said, clutching his pounding forehead.
"Oh my gosh are you okay!?" the girl asked.
"Yeah," Cody replied, "It's just pain." He opened his eyes again and saw the green girl staring at him, smiling in relief.
"…why are you staring at me like that?" Cody asked.
"Hmm? Oh, sorry!" the girl said, immediately standing up and backing off as Cody slowly sat up.
"Are you okay?" the girl asked.
"I'll be fine." Cody answered. He then looked at the girl from top to bottom. She sure didn't look like any girl he met before. This girl was green. Literally ALL green. Only her eyes, hair, and dress were a darker green than the rest of her body.
"Is something wrong?" the girl asked.
"Huh? Oh, nothing!" Cody told her, "But if you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you?"
"Oh well! I'm the slime of course! My name is Stephaney the slime!" the girl said, lifting her arms up.
"You don't look like any slime to me." Cody said to her. Well, she WAS green after all. Maybe she could be the slime?
"That's because I'm not a normal slime!" Stephaney said, "I'm the human mob version of the slime mob!"
"Human mob?" Cody asked.
"You don't know what a human mob is?"
Cody shook his head no.
"Well, I suppose a human mob is no different than a human," Stephaney explained, "But physical-wise."
"Meaning how they look, right?"
"Bingo!" Stephaney exclaimed, "A human mob is basically a mob that has taken the form of a human, and I guess because of that we think more like a human."
"And there are all types of human mobs?" Cody asked.
"Yes of course!" Stephaney replied, "There's the zombie, the enderman, the creeper, and me too. Almost every mob becomes a human mob, depending on the 'miracle' that happens to this world."
"What's a 'miracle'?" Cody asked.
"A 'miracle' is basically something that is added to this world, from tools and items to new mobs and biomes. There are all kinds of 'miracles', good and bad."
"Why do you call them 'miracles'?" Cody asked.
Stephaney shrugged and told him, "Our ancestors called them that because they brought them many blessings, so I guess that's why they're called 'miracles'. However, the humans tend to call them another name."
"What name do humans call these 'miracles'?" Cody asked.
"They call them 'mods'"
Just then, a jolt of lighting ran through Cody's head. He remembered when he was back in his own world, looking how he was before. He also remembered all of the mods he downloaded into his minecraft. The 'mob talker mod' was one of them, as well as the 'human mobs mod'. Did this have some connection to what's happening in Cody's server?
…But it still doesn't make sense. Why was Cody, Matt and Darren transported here? And how would they get out?
"…"
"Are you alright?" Stephaney asked.
"Huh? Oh, sorry" Cody replied, "I was just thinking about something."
"Thinking about what?" she asked.
"These 'miracles'… is that why you look like that?"
"Oh, I've always looked like this!" she replied, "To other mobs I mean."
"So you've looked like that to other mobs," Cody said, "but what about humans?"
"Humans only see us as mobs," Stephaney replied, "Villagers too. It's just how it is."
"I see…" Cody remarked, "So if humans and villagers were able to see you like this, would their opinion change about you?"
Stephaney looked down, as if she wasn't sure. Then she answered by saying, "I guess so."
As Stephaney looked down, Cody managed to get up and walk around her. Then the slime girl whirled around to see him.
"Hey mister!" she said.
"What is it?" Cody asked, looking back at her.
"Which type of human mob are you?"
"I'm not a mob."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
It was then Cody realized that Stephaney couldn't determine whether he was human or not. So he decided to tell her the truth.
"I am not a human mob." he explained, "I'm a human"
"You're human!?" Stephaney exclaimed.
"Yes. Is there a problem?" Cody asked.
"N-No, it's just that…" Stephaney began, red forming on her cheeks, "I never thought that humans like you would look so… cute."
Did she just say that I looked… cute? Cody thought to his surprise. Stephaney had said her last word in a soft tone, but he still was able to hear it. I'm not sure whether that was supposed to be a compliment or not, but I guess that this is what the 'mob talker mod' really does to mobs.
Then he had another thought.
"Hey Stephaney"
"What is it?" she asked.
"These 'miracles', how long do they take until full effect?"
"What do you mean?" Stephaney asked.
"I'm just asking, do these 'miracles' happen instantly or eventually?"
The slime girl thought for a moment, and then told him, "That depends on the 'miracle' that's being imported into our world. If it's an item or a tool, or even a mob, they almost appear instantly. If it's an ore, it takes a few minutes. But if it's an actual biome, it takes a short while. That and the whole earth will shake."
"Are you serious!?" Cody asked.
"That's what I heard about the biome thing." Stephaney answered.
"So let me get this straight. These 'miracles' occur to everyone, right?"
"Mm-hmm!"
"And you were affected by it too right?"
"I guess."
"But wait, if these 'miracles' are turning mobs into human mobs, how come I've barely seen any?" Cody asked.
Stephaney just shrugged and told him, "I don't know. Some 'miracles' happen faster than others."
"Well that explains it. And uh, thanks for saving me. I don't know what could've happened of you didn't." With that, Cody turned again and began walking the other way.
"Hey mister!" the slime girl called out.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Where are you going?"
Cody answered by saying, "I'm going to find my friends."
When he started to walk, Stephaney got up and ran next to him. She told him, "Well if you're going to wander the labyrinth, at least tell me your name first."
"My name is Cody Dawson." He answered. But before he could take another step, what Stephaney had told him struck him as shocking.
"D-did you say 'labyrinth'?" he asked the slime girl.
"Yes of course," she answered, "without a guide to lead you through the cave, I'm afraid you'll get lost and most likely die."
Cody looked toward the cave he was about to enter. What darkness was at the other side? What's even more terrifying is what waited for him within the cold and dark cave. Even so, he knew that his friends were above him, searching for a way to reach him. He couldn't leave them alone by themselves. He needed to find a way to find his friends, however what Stephaney said was true. If he moved on like this into the cave, he'll surely get lost in there. He somehow lost most of his items too, so that was even worse. All he had left was a diamond sword, a diamond pickaxe, 2 pork chops, 3 cooked steaks, only 8 torches left, and only one gold ingot. Shit.
"If you need a guide, you can just ask." The slime girl told him.
With that, Cody looked back at her smiling expression. Of course he needed a guide, and who else was willing to all the way down fucking here?
"Will you help me?" Cody asked.
Stephaney agreed.
Cody walked, lifting a torch with one hand, past the cave walls that were all around him. Stephaney walked close behind as they continued onward. The sound of zombies was heard all around.
"Zombies…" Stephaney said with a grim expression, "I hate them so much. Especially when you can't see them anywhere"
"They're somewhere within the walls," Cody explained, "We should keep moving either way." He didn't want to make the same mistake again. Right then, something occurred to him. Why did Stephaney want to help him in the first place? She hardly knew him!
"Stephaney?" Cody asked.
"What is it?" she replied.
"It's not that I'm not grateful to you helping me, but why are you helping me, a complete stranger?"
"Well," Stephaney began, but then she stopped. Then she told him, "I know it's strange, helping someone I don't know but, I guess… I've think I've seen one too many deaths."
"What are you talking about?" Cody asked in a shocked expression.
"There's something you need to know about this place," Stephaney explained, "This whole cave in general is a lot more dangerous than you think. I remember one time, a whole expedition of humans traveled down here. There were about 150 humans, but only 6 of them made it out."
"That's only 4% out of 150!" Cody exclaimed.
"Mm-hmm. This is what happens to most of the people who travel down here. They either die by monsters, or they get lost and never come back."
"Is that why you're helping me?"
Stephaney nodded. "I guess I figured that if I actually did something instead of just standing there and watching, maybe I could make a difference. But really, what human would trust slimes, a hostile mob?"
"You don't seem all that hostile to me." Cody said.
"I try to help but, people attack me before I do. Nobody ever trusts me, and I always stand there wondering, 'what did I do wrong?'"
"I trust you." Cody said.
Stephaney looked at him surprised. "You… you do!?" she asked.
"Yes of course! You are the only one here who is actually willing to guide me through this cave. Literally"
"But, how can you be so sure?" Stephaney asked.
They stopped and Cody placed a hand on her shoulder, saying to her, "Because you have a good heart Stephaney. You're willing to go out of your way and risk your safety just to help people you don't even know. And that honestly, is something that not a lot of people would do, unlike you. Thank you."
Touched by Cody's words, she uttered a 'thank you' back to him. With that, they continued moving forward. After a few minutes of walking, the light from his torch hit two paths, each one equally dark and creepy.
"Okay Stephaney," Cody said, putting a hand to one hip, "Which way is it?"
"I think it's this way." She said, pointing to the path to the right.
"You think or you know?" Cody asked.
Stephaney said nothing for a few seconds. Then she said, "Y-yes, it's this way. I remember now."
"Okay. Let's go."
Both of them walked into the path in the right. Just then, they heard the sound of footsteps.
"What was that?" Stephaney asked.
"It might be a zombie." Cody observed.
They stopped walking when the footsteps became louder and louder. Stephaney moved closer to Cody as he took out his sword, ready for a fight. He looked left and right, trying to find where the sound was coming from. The two of them nearly jumped when the footsteps were right in from of them. A young girl had come into view. She wore a forest green jacket with the hoodie on, light blue jeans that looked ripped as well as the jacket. The girl looked like she was attacked by zombies. Cody lowered his sword. This person must have been trapped down here too, he thought. When Cody called out to the girl, she looked up at him, revealing her pale blue hair and dark green eyes.
"huh?" she asked.
"Cody, I don't think this is a girl," Stephaney told him, "She kind of looks like a guy."
"She looks like a girl to me." Cody observed.
But for some reason the girl, or guy, put a hand out and made a face that looked like she was dying.
"Please…" she pleaded, "help me…"
She then fell to the ground and Cody and Stephaney ran towards her. Cody knelt down and lifted the girl up, and she then looked at him with desperate eyes.
"Help me…" she asked, "I'm dying…"
"Stay with us!" Cody told her, "Don't die yet!"
"Do… do you have… any… food?" the girl asked.
"Huh?"
"Food…"
Realizing the situation, Cody nodded and handed her a cooked steak. Suddenly, the girl's face lit up, as if she was recharged.
"Thank you!" she said, grabbing the meat from his hand and eating it. Cody sweat dropped and looked at Stephaney. She shrugged.
Part 2: Overexposure to fear
The same girl from before was now sitting on a block, happily eating a piece of steak, and enjoying it apparently, as if she hadn't eaten in a long time. Cody stood in front of her with Stephaney. When the girl had finally swallowed down her meal, she gave a large sigh of satisfaction.
"That was delicious!" she said, rubbing her belly.
"Glad you liked it." Cody told her.
"Is there more?" the girl asked.
"Hold on there!" Cody said, "First we need to know who you are, then we need to fix your injuries."
Disappointed, the girl slumped back into her seat.
"So what's your name?" Stephaney asked.
"My name is Ezekiel. Ezekiel the zombie" the girl answered, "but my friends call me Zeke."
"Ezekiel?" Cody asked. He laughed and said, "That's a weird name for a girl!"
"That's because I'm not a girl," Zeke answered, "I'm a boy."
Cody's face became shocked by this. He looked at Stephaney, and she made a face as if she was saying to him, "I told you so."
"B-but why do you looked so…" Cody began to say but his voice trailed off.
"Girlish?" Zeke asked.
When Cody nodded, Zeke sighed and said, "Yeah, I get that a lot."
"But, why do you look like a girl and not a boy?" Stephaney asked.
"Ugh…" Zeke said, "I've been so hungry for so long, that my body actually shrunk. My tummy got so skinny that now it looks like that I have a girl's body."
"How long have you been starving?" Cody asked.
"For the longest time I have! It's even worse since I can't die as easily as humans, since I'm already dead."
"You poor thing!" Stephaney said.
"It's alright," Zeke said, "I'm used to it anyway. I just hope that there's something for me to eat…"
Cody thought for a moment, and then he said, "Hey, Zeke, if you can help us out, I promise I'll find you more food."
"Cody, what are you doing?" Stephaney whispered to him.
"Trust me on this." he whispered back.
"What do you need?" Zeke said, sounding excited at Cody's offer.
"If you can help me find my friends, and find us a way out of this cave, I promise that there'll be way more food for you." he said.
With a leap of joy, Zeke said, "Yeah! Okay, I'm in! Where do I start?"
Cody laughed. Maybe Zeke was a bit more girl than boy after all.
"So what do I need to do?" Zeke asked.
Cody thought for a moment. He could ask for directions, but Stephaney's already doing that. But there was something else he needed to do…
"Have you seen any humans nearby?" he asked.
"What do you mean?" Zeke asked.
"There are four of them. They came along with me but we got separated while we were fighting monsters. Have you seen any?"
"No I don't think so."
Cody sighed. He had really hoped that would work.
"But…"
Cody looked up at Zeke, who was already scratching his forehead, as if he was searching his memory.
"I did see something that looked like a human not too long ago."
Cody was filled with joy and relief.
"Did you see them!?" he asked, "How many were there?"
"It was a small group of people," Zeke explained, "One tall guy, one guy with glasses, a skeleton chick and a cave spider."
"That's them!" Cody exclaimed, "Did you see where they were going?"
"They were traveling down the river…"
He was cut off when Cody had grabbed him and Stephaney and ran off after his friends.
"Wait, it's the other way!" Zeke yelled.
Cody ran the other way, even faster this time.
Meanwhile
Zombies were going down one by one. Some of them even fell into lava.
"Damn it…" Cindy muttered, a drop of sweat went down her face, "these zombies just don't know when to quit."
Behind her, Darren was fighting creepers with his sword while Matt protected Mandy, since she couldn't fight very well. Just when Darren had killed another creeper…
"Holy crap man!" he said. His eyes darting back and forth between monsters, "these mobs are really pissed!"
"You're telling me!" Matt said, fending off a zombie, "This is their home, and we're invading it."
"I don't even think that's the reason anymore!" Darren called. Just then, Mandy screamed.
"Ah! W-what the?" Matt said. It took him a moment to realize that Mandy had slide on the floor.
"Mandy?!" he yelled out.
Just when the cave spider got up, a tall dark figure punched her to the wall. It appeared again, this time grabbing her by the neck.
"It's an enderman!" Matt cried.
Mandy was struggling for air as the enderman pushed her further into the wall. Then it let out a cry, and died. The cave spider then fell to the ground, an ender pearl and EXP was right in front of her. She looked up and saw Cindy holding a bow in her direction.
"T-thank you Cindy" Mandy managed to say.
"We're not done yet!" Cindy said. She kicked a zombie who was about to grab her arm, and karate chopped another.
Darren had just pushed away a zombie when he thought, I hope Cody's okay.
Meanwhile that
Cody ran at full speed towards the river. He was kicking up more dust the faster he went. He was literally, no joke, running in the dark. He blindly swerved sounds that sounded like zombies and creepers, and somehow had not once hit a wall yet.
"Where to now Stephaney!?" he asked.
"A few more blocks, then turn left!" she yelled.
"Hang on!"
We aren't even holding onto you in the first place… Stephaney thought. She glanced at Zeke, who looked sick.
"I think I'm going to hurl…" he said.
"You hardly ate anything!" Stephaney yelled at him.
Cody screamed as he made a hard left and ran even faster.
Back to where we left off
Cindy was pushed against Darren's back. Mandy sunk behind Matt. They were all in a circle, surrounded by zombies.
"I never thought it would end like this." Matt said.
"Me neither." Darren said.
As the zombies came closer, Matt said to everyone, "Guys, if this is the end, I just want you to know that you all were the best friends I've ever had."
"We feel the same too Matt." Cindy returned.
Just when everything looked dark for real, there was a brief sound of something. It sounded like razor sharp blades going at like, 246 mph. But when the sound faded, a dozen zombies fell to the ground and died.
"What the…" Darren said, amazed.
All four of them looked back and forth as even more zombies fell to the ground. That sound repeatedly made itself heard again and again.
"What's going on? Who's doing this?" Cindy asked.
"I don't know," Mandy said, "But whoever or whatever really saved our butts!"
It was true. In just a few seconds, all of the zombies who were surrounding them were all dead, leaving behind a lot of rotten flesh.
"Wha… what just happened?" Darren asked.
"So, you're the humans I've heard about." A dark and mysterious voice said.
"Who's there!?" Darren yelled.
"Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you." the voice said, just as a young man stepped into view, "Well, at least not yet."
The young man had blue hair with unusual large spikes, a spiky pony tail, wearing a long blue open jacket, revealing a white T-shirt, and dark pants. He carried a diamond sword in each hand, had two more around his waist and a very long one on his back. His light blue eyes peered into the people standing in front of him.
"Unless you want to die already." He said.
"Who are you?" Cindy demanded.
"It doesn't matter who I am," the young man said, "What matters is what I'm here for."
"And just what are you here for?" Matt asked.
"I'm just doing my job, observing."
"Observing what?" Mandy asked.
"That's not important." the young man answered, "But actually, I'm quite surprised that Kinkajou hasn't gotten to you yet. I was sure she did so by now."
"Hold on!" Matt said to him, "Who's this 'Kinkajou' you're talking about? Is she a mob?"
"Tcah!" the young man uttered. He turned around and said, "Whatever. None of you are the ones who I'm looking for."
"Wait! Where are you going!?" Cindy asked.
"Tell you what," the young man said to the group, "There's a chance that we will meet again. Until next time, he'd better be there with you."
"Who? Ah, wait!" Matt said. In a gust of wind, the mysterious young man who had just saved them disappeared in a gust of wind. Everyone shielded their faces when he disappeared.
When the wind was gone, Darren lowered his arms and asked, "Who was that guy?"
"I don't know," Mandy answered, "but if you ask me, he needs to work on his attitude!"
"For real" Matt replied.
Cindy agreed.
Part three: The end of the Great Mine Adventure
Cody had been running in the dark for almost five whole minutes. Stephaney and Ezekiel flew like flags as he ran. All three of them suddenly slammed into a wall that Cody ran into. After they fell to the ground, they all sat up, sore and frustrated at the same time.
"Oww…" Cody whined, rubbing his head, "I hit a wall…"
"Well no shit Sherlock!" Stephaney yelled at him, "This is what happens when you run like some crazy person in the dark carrying two people along with you!"
"Sorry…" Cody said apologetically.
He then looked up and felt the space in front of him with his hand. There was definitely a wall there. And if there was a wall…
"I'll just mine through it!" Cody declared.
He grabbed his diamond pick and began mining through the stone wall, one block every two taps.
"Talk about fast!" Zeke said.
Stephaney sighed and said, "Well, he is determined to find his friends after all.
They both got up and followed John Henry as he mined through the cobblestone. Only there was no machine this time.
Everything was quiet in the cave. There was only the sound of dripping water within the caverns. No mobs were nearby.
"Well, at least we're safe now." Matt said.
"Yeah but what about Cody?" Mandy asked, "If he's even still alive that is."
"Mandy!" Cindy told her, "That's no way to talk! We'll find him down here for sure!"
"Yeah, right after the monsters find us first"
Cindy glared at her.
"What?" the cave spider asked.
Darren sighed. He felt someone pat his shoulder.
"Don't worry bro." Matt sympathized, "We'll find him. He might even be looking for us right now!"
"Maybe…" Darren said, "I mean, let's go find him!"
"That's the spirit!" Matt exclaimed.
Just then, another strange noise was heard.
"What now?" Cindy asked, already annoyed and frustrated.
The noise became louder.
"It sounds like someone's mining." Matt observed.
The noise became even louder and faster.
"Silverfish?" Mandy asked.
The mining led to a block disappearing, and then another. A path was opened on the side of the wall. Everyone watched as a young man darted through the opening. They all held their breath when they recognized him.
"Phew…" the young man said, rubbing his orange hair, "Mining really wore me out. I gotta work out more."
He was surprised when everyone cheered his name.
"Cody!"
Darren grabbed him and pulled him into the group, where he was embraced by four sets of arms. Everyone was laughing.
"Guys! It's really you!" Cody said, squeezed in everyone's hug.
They all let go, and the orange-haired teen looked around at his friends, who reflected his joy of seeing them.
"Guys…" he said, almost too happy for words.
"What happened!?" Matt asked.
Cody explained to them everything that happened after he fell into the hole.
"Wow, sounds like you've had quite the adventure." Cindy said.
"Yeah, probably" Cody replied back.
"So these are your friends huh?"
Cindy looked and saw Ezekiel and Stephaney standing on either side of the doorway.
"Hey… who's that?" Mandy asked.
"These are my new friends," Cody explained, "They helped me find my way through the cave. Everyone, this is Stephaney the slime girl and Ezekiel the zombie. Stephaney and Zeke, these are my friends Matt, Darren, Cindy, and Mandy."
"Hello." Stephaney said politely.
"Hey!" Zeke said, putting two fingers up.
"So, you're the ones who helped Cody find his way back?" Darren asked.
"Yeah, although he was a bit more enthusiastic than we thought." Stephaney replied.
"Thank you very much!" Darren said.
Ezekiel's stomach growled.
"Does anyone have any food?" he asked.
Everyone stared at him.
"What? I'm hungry."
"Hey, I wanna ask you something." Mandy asked him.
"What is it?" Zeke asked.
"Why do you look like a girl, and yet have a boy's name?" she asked.
Zeke looked at her in an annoyed way and answered, "It's because I'm not a girl. I'm an actual boy."
"Huh!?" Matt exclaimed, "Y-you're a guy!?"
"Yeah… I get that a lot."
"Dude, I can't imagine how you must feel when guys hit on you." Matt sympathized, "I mean, look at you!"
"Yeah, I get it." Zeke told him, "It's fine though. Thanks for your concern."
"So, now that you're all back together," Stephaney said to Cody, "What do we do now?"
He answered by saying, "We find a way out of here of course!"
"But, how?" Matt questioned, "This cave is crawling with monsters! I don't even think we can go back the same way!"
"He's right." Mandy agreed, "Especially considering that we're super way down below the earth. Only an angel can save us now."
Just then, another mining noise was heard.
"Huh? Who's mining?" Cody asked.
Everyone shook their heads and murmured I don't know. The mining escalated, as if someone was desperate to get to the other side.
"Hey, look!" Cindy said, pointing to the roof. A cobblestone block was beginning to crack.
"From up there?" Darren asked. Then the block disappeared and light shone through the hole.
Everyone gasped as three more blocks were broken, revealing a perfect square of light.
"Wow!" Stephaney said.
"That light must be coming from the surface." Cindy observed.
"It's the angel!" Matt said.
"Th-that's awesome!" Zeke exclaimed.
Everyone stared at the light, as if they were seeing it for the first time.
"Hey, do you hear that?" Matt asked Darren. Both of their faces were smiling because of the light.
A very faint sound of something was heard.
"No, not really" He answered.
The sound became louder.
"You know what? I do hear something!" Zeke said.
The sound became louder and clearer.
Cody stared at the light and said, "It sounds like…"
"Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" a voice screamed.
"Someone's falling!" Cindy said.
Then, the shape of a young man with blond hair and blue eyes fell out of the light and into the ground. The sound of a muffled explosion flew throughout the cave, followed by dust. When everything was clear, the young man was seen lying face down on the ground, a small crater was formed around him. Everyone stared in horror at the young man's body, which was now a part of the earth.
Then something very strange happened. The young man's arms began to move! Stephaney screamed the young man used his arms to push himself up. Then his face popped out of the floor. The young man blinked his eyes as if nothing had happened. There wasn't the slightest scratch on his face at all! He said nothing for a short while. Then he let loose a yell of pain.
"Oww! Ow! Ow! Ow! That hurt so bad!" the young man whined, rolling around the crater. He finally managed to get up to his feet. He winced from his belly's pain.
"Aw maaaan!" the young man said to himself, his voice sounding sad, angry, and pained at the same time, "That's the last time I trust a village merchant…"
Then the young man noticed that he was being stared at by a group on eyes standing around him in a circle.
"Um…" the young man asked, "Why is everyone staring at me?" his voice shifted to a very innocent tone.
Everyone stared at him for the longest time. Their eyes were wide in shock and horror, and their voices were speechless.
Finally, Matt was the first one who managed to say what everyone couldn't.
"Hey kid." He said.
"What is it?" the young man asked.
Matt inhaled through his nose, and exhaled through his mouth. Then he yelled, "HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU ALIVE?!"
"Excuse me?" the young man asked.
"We all saw you crash into the ground!" Cody told him, "You fell like a star, yet you're standing there like nothing happened at all!"
"Really?" The young man asked, "Huh. Now that I think about it, how am I alive?" His voice sounded soft and very confused.
"I… I don't believe what I'm seeing…" Zeke struggled to say.
Stephaney gasped when she realized what was happening.
"Of course!" she exclaimed, "It's so simple! Why didn't I see this before?"
She ran up to the young man and held both of his hands, saying, "We're standing in the presence of an angel, one sent down by Notch himself!"
Looks like his wings were clipped off a bit too early. Mandy thought.
Stephaney turned to the group and said, "This person right here is a miracle child! Death doesn't allow even himself to touch him!"
'Miracle children' are extremely rare in minecraft. Legend has it that one is born every 100 years.
"What are you talking about?" the young man said with a laugh, "I'm no angel. I'm Garrett."
He pointed to the sky and said, "Angels live up there in heaven, with God and all the other angels. I'm not an angel. I'm a human, like you!" He took a quick moment to study Stephaney up and down.
"Well, I mean, I guess I'm human. Am I supposed to look as green as you?"
Cody smacked his hand into his face.
Maybe their 'angel' could survive a 200,000 block fall, but he doesn't seem to be as bright as the light around him and Stephaney. Not as bright at all.
And that was the sixth chapter of my Minecraft series! Sorry again about the lack of updates. So, just who is Garrett anyway? Is he really an angel? Or is he just some kid with a whole lot of luck? And will Cody and his friends trust him at all? You'll have to find out in the next chapter which may not be updated for a short while, you know, 'cause of the holidays. Until then, Later!
