Chapter 24: Long live the queen

Yami: Give it back Yugi!

Yugi: But she said it was the end! No offense Yami, but you're writing is really bad.

Yami: Yugi, we have to keep this story going for Shiek!

Since when have you cared about my writing?

Yami: I have always cared. Just because I'm a bad mood sometimes doesn't mean anything.

Really? Hmm, I'll think that over. What's this?

Yami: It's the chapters for the future for this story.

But, this is the last one!

Yami: Yugi said the same thing...

Yugi: So why have you been gone so long?

Family issues, and school problems. I have exams this coming Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so I have been studying like crazy.

Yugi: gonna ace those tests right?

Sure. Anyways. I am sorry for missing for so long, guys. Like I said family and school issues have booked me up. In return, I'm promise I'm gonna try my hardest to make this chapter good. I kow it's gonna be a little short, but I didn't have much to put in it. Plus, I have plans to finish my other story and post the last chapter today too, so technically, you get a bonus, I guess.

Yugi sat with crossed arms next to Yami. They were on criminal affairs duty today.

It had been ten years after their marriage. Yami and Yugi had two children. Mira, who was five and Atem who was ten.

Today, a man had stolen thirty-five fish from the market.

"Why have you stolen so many fish?" Yami asked with annoyance laced in his voice.

"I have a family to feed. We are moving at a quick pace. We do not have money to pay for food, so I had no choice!" The man wept.

"Why fish? Fish spoil and go bad quickly. Why not steal bread loaves?" Yugi sat up peering at the man.

"Yugi!" Yami whispered.

"I knew stealing bread would bad for the people of the town, since bread is hard to come by here. I took fish because they are easy to catch in the river."

"So, you thought of the people before you're own family?" Yugi leaned even further.

"Yes, I don't mean trouble for the city nor the kingdom."

"Yami, let the man go."

"What?"

"I know it's crazy but he means well."

"we can not let everyone of them go, Yugi. He must pay the price." They continued to whisper until finally Yami gave up. "Fine.." He said in a normal voice. "You are release, and you can take ten fish with you. But, you must pay a fine of five hundred."

"T-thank you, Princess Yugi! Thank you for convincing him to let me free. Thank you, Prince Yami, for letting me free to my family!" The guards let him free and escorted him out.

"Why must you insist that everyone of them is let go?" Yami stood and sighed.

"Because, I can see they mean no harm. Remember, Yami, I have that ability to see into people's hearts." Yugi laughed.

"well, what do you see in mine?" He leaned into her, pinning her to the throne.

"You really want to kiss me right now."

"Really?"

"No, but I can tell that's what you're thinking." He smiled and kissed her. Their lips locking.

"mommy! Atem hit me again!" Mira ran in shouting.

"I did not! Dad, she's lying!" Atem growled back.

"I guess that means no us time..." Yami sighed. "Atem, just apologize anyways."

"But I didn't do anything!"

"Liar!" Mira whined.

"How did Atem hit you?" Yugi asked standing up slowly.

"He threw the ball at me, and hit me in the face."

"I was throwing it to you, but you just didn't catch it!" Atem shouted.

"Na-ah!"

"Yes-hah!"

"No!"

"Ye-"

"Why won't you two ever get along?" Yami sighed flopping down into his throne.

"No,no, no, Yami, today is your turn to deal with them. Remember, I have defences lessons on Tuesdays." Yugi laughed.

"Dammit!" He whispered.

"Language, Sir Prince! We have children!" Yugi strutted out of the doors in a mocking way.

After Yugi's lessons, She returned to her room to find Yami asleep at the desk.

"Yami" No answer. "Yami!" Nothing. "YAMI!"

"Whoah!" He fell onto the floor with a thud. "Do you mind?! I am trying to sleep!" Yami stood up, dusted himself off and glared at Yugi. Yugi collapsed on the bed laughing.

"You won't want to sleep after this."

"What?"

"The head stopped by today during my lessons, and he told me we have three months left." Yugi finally stopped laughing and sat up on the bed.

"Three months... You mean... until we are moved up to king and queen?"

"Yup!"

"Yugi, that is amazing. We finally get to take my parent's place! It's been forever!"

"I know! But, that also means we have to work even harder to be as good as we can."

"We should let Atem know. He'll be excited to know he'll be considered a fully trained prince not too long from now."

"He can wait until tomorrow." Yugi pulled him down on top of her.

It had finally been three months.

"Wow, you look so pretty, mom!" Atem smiled.

"Please, this is nothing." Yugi was wearing her normal, cream coloured dress with the golden jewellery strung around her neck. Clipped to her shoulders, she wore a dark purple cape. Yami was pretty much the same, but he had a red cape. He also had golden shoulders braces that looked like mini wings.

"Really, Dad would think so too." Atem smiled.

"I do, but she hates it when I tell her sexy she looks." Yami laughed from behind Atem.

"Y-Yami!" Yugi blushed.

"see, Atem." Yami laughed again and ruffled Atems hair. "You look nice too."

Atem wore a short-sleeve cream coloured robe and round golden necklace like thing. He had a small head piece with the eye of Osiris in the centre on his upper forehead. He had golden arm bands on his upper arms.

"Come on, let's go. Atem, go get mira please!" Yugi smiled.

They stood out on a balcony over looking a field of people, who were all there to see the crowning of Prince Yami and Princess Yugi.

"Ladies and gentlemen," The head shouted over the crowd. "Today, we announce the crowning of crown prince Yami and Crown princess Yugi, for their step into ruling this land as King and Queen. I also announce that Atem, child of our royals, will now become a prince today!"

He turned toward the current kind and queen, Yami's parents, and slowly removed their crowns. He set the crowns down on a red pillow and picked up a smaller crown for Atem. Atem got on one knee before the head, allowing him to put the crown on. After the crown was on, Atem stood again, and the crowd cheered.

Next, the head picked up the King's crown. Yami and Yugi got down on one knee together. The head first put the crown on Yami, then picked up the Queen's crown, setting it on Yugi's head. The crowd cheered wildly.

"Long live the king! Long live the queen!" The crowd cheered, again, putting their hands in the air with the eye of Osiris on them.

Yugi and Yami linked hands and smiled brightly.

Yugi's POV

It was finally over. All the fears, and troubles, and hunting, and hurting pain of missing loved ones. It was gone. I finally felt at home. I finally felt... accepted. After so long I was welcomed. Before, sure I felt at home, but seeing this-hearing this, the people chanting like this, I felt safe and welcomed.

I was home.

Wahhhhh! I'm crying! I can't help it! Its just too sad!

Yami: You really are crying! I didn't think you'd actually cry over that!

Well duh! I get really emotional with my writing sometime!

Yami: We know...

HEY! Oh, Yugi, anything you want to add?

Yugi: Uh... Sheik has a poll out right now that she is begging to get some votes on!

Yup, I have had that poll out for a while, and I have gotten zero votes. I really need votes because it will determine what my next fanfic will be.

So, this is it. The last time I'll see you-or rather, you'll see me on this. This is the very last chapter.
