Oath: Thanksgiving Special
There will be a special message at the end of this chapter brought to you by the various members of Oath. Also spoiler alert in case the preview didn't ruin it for ya already. Static and Gear are in this chapter. Their real names are: Static- Virgil. Gear-Richie
Richie and Virgil looked down at the stove. "So were supposed to make something for the dinner?" Virgil asked just go clarify their leader's orders. "That or buy something but since I gurantee the shops are closed down it'll be easier to make something." Richie answered his friend as the duo glared down at their enemy. The stove would've winced from the glares if it was capable of it.
"Alright so cooking. It shouldn't be to hard." Virgil said rubbing his hands together creating some static careful not to shock Richie(get it Static Shock? Ahh screw you, that was funny). "Ya, Richard's already got the turkey taken care of. Wally's getting the deserts and Roy is out buying some good silverware." Richie said thinking it was kinda ironic that Roy had ordered Richard(the bird themed hero) to get the turkey. "Alright then let's begin." Virgil said as Richie backpack jumped from it's spot on the floor and onto the counter.
"Backpack find some great recipes for chicken." Richie ordered as the machine began to do it's task. "So you're doing chicken?" Virgil asked as Richie nodded. "Then I'll take care of the mashed potatoes. Can't be that hard." Virgil said cockily. Oh how wrong they were.
Two hours later
"Richie! The mashed potatoes are on fire!" Virgil yelled from his spot near the stove. "Grab the fire extinguisher!" Richie cried attempting to fan the badly burnt chicken. "I don't think the fire extinguisher will reach that high!" Virgil exclaimed looking up at the flaming ceiling. Richard who had just walked into the kitchen stared in disbelief. He didn't know whether to laugh or wonder how the hell Virgil had caught fire to the ceiling! "What the-" Richard said causing the two heroes to look at him. "Richard! Thank goodness you're here!" Richie exclaimed shaking Richard from his daze.
Richard first dashed over to the burning bird and pulled out an ice capsule from god knows where and threw it on the bird. In seconds the black bird was incased in ice. "Yo Dick, when you get a chance you think you got anything that will extinguish a ceiling fire?" Virgil asked trying to be calm about the whole situation but not succeeding in anyway.
Richard looked at the ceiling fire and almost instantly grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed both the ceiling and the stove. Once both fires were out he turned to his fellow heroes. "How the hell did you manage to catch the ceiling on fire?" Richard asked to which Virgil rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Well it wasn't cooking fast enough so I thought a little jolt would help. Unfortunately it just lit it on fire and splashed it up onto the ceiling." Virgil explained to which Richard sighed.
"Good thing I bought another chicken and some more mashed potatoes then huh?" Richard asked motioning to the bag near the kitchen. "We already destroyed two; what makes you think we can succeed with another one?" Richie asked to which Richard smirked. "Because I will be helping you." He said flipping a knife into the air.
With Roy
Roy grumbled looking all the various sets of plates and silverware. None of them were what he was looking for. Normally he'd just pick one and be done with it but since it was Oath's first Thanksgiving he had to pick something special out. He glared down at the inanimate objects as if hoping that the one he was looking for would pop out at him. No such luck unfortunately, so he decided to go up to an employee and ask if they had anything that would actually fit his family.
He walked straight up to a counter and stared down the man. "Do you have any not to fancy but fancy silverware that will match a family's first Thanksgiving?" He grumbled out to which the man nodded. "Of course, sir." He said going into the back room and returning with various other plates that only made him groan. "That's to fancy, that's not fancy enough, and that's just plain creepy." He said pointing at the various sets. The man looked bewildered but shook it off.
"Well if those don't fancy ya, then how about an Oath Dining set?" The man asked to which Roy raised an eyebrow. "Oath Dining set?" Roy asked just to make sure he had heard right. "Ya, it's the latest craze for Oath collectors. They have plates with all of the members. They've got the reclusive Red Arrow, the spunky yet energetic Warp, the mysterious and kinda creepy Nightwing, along with the two newest additions to Oath; the electrifying Static Shock and the techno-wonder Gear." The man said to which Roy felt a smile creep onto his face.
"I'll take it." He said already picturing everyone's reactions. "Don't you wanna know the price?" The man asked to which Roy shook his head. "Money is just an object when it comes to my family." He said pulling out his card. "Alright then sir, we'll have it packaged for you right away." The man said happily going to the back.
With Wally
Wally looked at all of the various pies trying to figure out which ones he wanted to buy. The people around him watched in awe as he picked up another pumpkin pie and tossed it into his already full cart. He shook them off nonchalantly; he was a speedster and speedsters needed to eat a lot. He had almost finished with his little desert list only having to pick up a few more items. Mentally he counted them off. He got Richie's favorite chocolate cake and Virgil's precious apple pie. He had picked up Roy's special lemon meringue pie first; knowing the red haired archer would kill him if he forgot it.
He chuckled to himself as he looked down at the only dessert that THE Red Arrow would kill over. He and Richard had figured out almost two years ago that whenever Roy got in his angst teenage mode that a piece of lemon meringue pie would calm him. He stopped down one random isle knowing he was missing something. He was about to bang his head against a random wall when he remembered. Richard's favorite chocolate chip cookies.
He was tempted to just head to the checkout line when it crossed his mind considering the last time chocolate chip cookies were in the house he had booby trapped the area around his cookies. Wally shudered as he remembered the goo that he had been in when he had attempted to grab one. Despite his doubts he decided to grab the nearest box of chocolate chip cookies and chuck it into the cart.
He then began his trek back to the checkout line and had to stop his jaw from hitting the floor. Every line was packed with people! The worst part? They all had as many items as he had if not more! He groaned to himself and decided to never volunteer for dessert duty ever again. No he'd let Richard, Virgil or Richie go instead because he sure as hell would never be doing it again; then again he didn't want Roy doing it with all of his teenage angst. He was likely to make some poor woman cry and neither Wally West nor Wade Blake could allow that.
He kept his protests inside as he found his way into a random line.
Four hours later:
The room was set with various foods as the five members sat around it with a smile on their faces. "Alright so who wants to do the prayer or whatever the hell people do before eating at this thing?" Roy asked looking at his brothers. No one looked rather eager but Richie took a deep breath. "I'll do it, I guess." He said in defeat. "Alright Rich, make it quick. I'm hungry enough to eat a horse." Virgil said rubbing his hands together just so he could add to his statement.
Everyone bowed their heads as Richie began. "Thank you Nightwing for this-" "Alright hold it!" Roy interrupted lifting his head up. Everyone lifted their heads and stared at Richie. "What?" He asked obviously confused. "Dude Nightwing is not a god!" Wally said shaking his head. Wally ignored Richard's huff of protest "Ya Rich, I mean we've been with the team for almost three months. Isn't it about time you gave up your strange obsession with him?" Virgil asked in agreement. "It is not an obsession!" Richie declared causing Roy to roll his eyes.
"Ya and I'm planning on wearing a dress and changing my name to Princess Red." He said causing Richard to cackle. "I knew you were hiding something!" Richard said causing the rest of Oath to chuckle as well. Roy even cracked a smile at the comment. "Oh shut it Mr. I'm going to marry a certain green archer!" Roy shot back causing Richard's mouth to form an O. "Oh you so did not go there Mr. I'm having a secret affair with her sister." Richard responded causing Roy to huff.
"For the last time,I am not having a secret affair with Cheshire!" Roy cried out in desperation. "Well your right about one thing..." Virgil said stiffiling a chuckle. "It's not really a secret." Wally finished for him. "Can we just drop it and go on with this thing?" Roy asked getting to the end of his rope. "Alright, I'll take it from here because Richie was the only one who appreciates my awesomeness." Richard said causing Richie to nod.
Everyone bowed their heads once more as Richard began. "You are all thankful to me for this wonderous-" "Ok that's it! Screw the chant!" Wally cried out in frustration. "I'm with Wally! Let's just skip the damn thing and eat!" Roy said in agreement. "Hey we can't skip the chant! It's tradition!" Virgil deadpanned. "Fine but if another thing is said about Nightwing being a god or something, I am done!" Roy said to which Richard flashed a quick smile to Richie, who returned it. "Well then why don't you just do it Roy?" Richie offered causing Roy to raise an eyebrow.
"You want me to do it?" Roy asked as Richard whispered something into Wally's ear. "Ya Roy! You are the one who started this team after all!" Wally answered with a small smile. "You guys really want me to do this?" Roy asked to which everyone nodded. "Alright then, everyone bow your heads once more." Roy ordered using his leader voice. Everyone did as they were told without hesitation as Roy began. "I don't know if there is a god out there but if there is; then thank you for this wonderful food and allowing everyone at this table to be here at this table. We go through hell and back on a regular basis so thank you for allowing us to all be here today." Roy began everyone smiling as he did so.
"Also thank you for this amazing family that we've all become accepted into. We are no longer alone. We are a family." Roy said to which Wally smiled. "A family that will stand beside you even if the world turns against you." He continued for Roy making the red head smile. "A family that will help you back up if you fall and kick the asses of whoever made you fall." Richard continued softly. "A family where you will never be shunned, no matter what you do." Virgil continued smiling gently to himself. "A family that will embrace you in your darkest moments and light up the darkness." Richie finished with a smile on his face as well. "That is our Oath." They all said simultaneously.
"Alright now let's eat!" Roy proclaimed raising his head up. "Alright I call dibs on the dark meat of the chicken!" Wally declared grabbing a knife. "Wow this is good!" Wally said taking a bite off of it. "Thanks!" Richie said as Roy took a bite of the mashed potatoes. "Bacon?" He asked with a curious look on his face. "Ya Richard said it'd make it taste better." Virgil said to which Roy nodded. "I don't say this often but that's one time I'm glad someone listened to Richard. He actually had a good idea for once." Roy teased causing the youngest to huff.
"Well good job on picking out the plates. But did you really have to give us all ourselves?" Richard shot back a smirk on his face. "Well the only other one who would want your face would be Richie but I don't think he'd eat a bite off of it." Wally added in causing Richie to sigh. "Thanks again for getting the chocolate cake Wally." Richie said to the speedster. "No problem, bro." Wally said as Oath began their first Thanksgiving with each other. It was a great night full of memories for the five of them. A night that made them all think about how lucky they were to belong to such an awesome family.
Roy: Alright everyone I know this is usually the time where our crazy writer tells you all some weird news or something but
Wally: The beautiful and gracious members of Oath are here in his crazy stead
Richard: That's right because we've got some important words for you guys
Virgil: Ya, as you can imagine we've all gone through some difficult times
Richie: but we've always made it through to the end
Roy: Now some of you might think it's because we're fictional characters
Wally: But that's not the case. As long as you have someone by your side you can do anything
Richard: That's right and though you may think you don't have someone by yourside
Virgil: But take it from some people that have some experience
Richie: You've always got someone on your side
Roy: Whether you know it or not, you usually do
Wally: That's right and I personally gurantee that if you realize it you'll feel alot stronger
Richard: But that doesn't change the fact that all you have to do is look around to find that person
Virgil: They may not be the person you expected but that doesn't change the fact that their for you
Richie: Yep, so hold your head up high and smile no matter what happens!
Roy: Trust us on this.
Wally: Were experts remember?
Richard: Yep and that's the whole reason our wonderful writer asked us to speak to you
Virgil: Yep said something about us being the best people to talk to you about this
Richie: This also means that you have to listen
Roy: Now we're just rambling. Anyways the point is that you are a part of a family-whether you know it or not- and you are never alone
Wally: A family that will stand beside you even if the world would turn against you
Richard: A family that will help you up whenever you fall and kick whose ever ass that made you fall
Virgil: A family that will never shun you, no matter what you do(just don't go hitler on them)
Richie:A family that will embrace you in your darkest hour and light up the darkness.
All: This is our Oath!
*Roy turns to the person standing in the corner wearing a black hoodie with a brown bomber jacket over it*
Roy: So how'd we do?
*Mysterious person nods and walks over to Oath*
Mysterious Person: Perfect, I think they got the message
Richard: Hey! Your not cool enough to be called Mysterious Person!
*Mysterious person raises an eyebrow*
Mysterious Person: So what would you call me?
*Wally snorts*
Wally: By your name of course!
Richie: Ya, so stop with the Mysterious Person act
Virgil: Ya we all know your the writer Janzen222
*Mysterious person shrugs*
Janzen222: Fine I'm pretty sure no ones reading this far anyways.
Roy: Well for the people that are drop the whole your all cool act!
Richie: Ya, speaking of which. How much did he pay you to add he was a wonderful writer
Richard: Promised me an epic chapter about me becoming Nightwing.
Wally: NO FAIR!
*Roy turns to Janzen222*
Roy: You better make us some badass scenes as well
*Janzen222 nods fearfully*
Wally: Hey Roy. Did you know were the first characters in one of his good fanfictions to break the fourth wall?
Roy: Really but didn't he do this in like his digimon christmas special
*Everyone cringes at the thought*
Janzen222: I'm pretty sure everyone wants to forget that.
Virgil: So when are we gonna appear bro?
Richie: Ya I'm itchin to join Oath!
Janzen222: I don't know yet but rest assured you'll be seen by Christmas time
Richie: Better not be in a christmas special or else you will not be able to hide
Janzen222: Not in a special but the plot should be in that time because you will be joining Oath during the Hayley's cirus arc!
Wally: SPOILERS!
Richard: How dare you spoil that for the fans!
Janzen222: Ehhh who cares this is for my fans anyways!
Roy: So are we done yet? I mean we're just ranting now.
Wally: I'm with Roy. What do we have to say to end this?
*Janzen222 gives the are you kidding me look*
Janzen222: We just had a Thanksgiving special and the reader has been kind enough to read this far! What do you think we have to end this with?
Roy: Oh ya. That's right
Virgil: Totally forgot about that
Richard: I feel like an idiot now
