Oath: A story of Blood and Brothers

Alright everyone I know everyones like wtf is with the weird thing? Well I actually was writing for my story Renegade and accidentally used this format to write it. I liked the way it looked and thought I'd try it out for Oath. So tell me your thoughts later anyways on with the story.

Richard sat in his room looking down at the picture. It was a picture of him and Bruce back when he had first become Robin. They were standing inside the Batcave smiling. Bruce was holding him up high and had a crooked smile on his face. Alfred was in the background smiling passively at the duo. He was smiling himself. He took a deep breath. It had been a week since Wally had become Warp and two since Roy had become Red Arrow. They had already started down the path of being caught if they hadn't been yet.

Only a month after leaving their mentors and here he was about to turn his back completely on his mentor. He had mixed feelings about it but didn't want to voice them to his brothers knowing they'd go into over protective brother mode. That was the last thing he needed while he contemplated his thoughts. A month ago if he had been in a situation like this he would've just went straight to Bruce and he'd be donned some mysterious wisdom from his mentor. Now he was on his own devices for any problem he had.

Unknownst to the resident hacker both of his brothers were watching from the slight crack of his door. "Looks like Dick's taking this harder then we expected." Roy spoke softly as to not alert their little bird. "Well I guess we should've expected this. I mean it's not like he's really had the time to sit down and think about everything." Wally replied just as soft. "Hey Wally, what do you remember from when Dick told us about how he became Robin?" Roy asked a thought suddenly in his plan. "Um almost all of it why?" Wally asked slightly fearful of what Roy was planning.

"Write down everything you remember and then get Richard into the H.Q in about an hour. If he asks why tell him it's almost time for patrol and we need him geared up." Roy ordered to which Wally raised an eyebrow but zoomed out of the hallway as quietly as possible. Soon enough he was back with a list full of everything he remembered. "Perfect!" Roy said looking down at the list. "Uh what now?" Wally asked still confused on why Roy asked for the list. "We do, what we always do Wally. We kick it up, Oath style!" Roy explained briefly enough so Wally smiled brightly.

"And this is why your the leader!" Wally said understanding his brother now. "Damn straight. Now let's get to the H.Q before Richard gets suspicious or more aware of his surroundings and sees us." Roy said ushering Wally down the hallway.

An hour later Richard had finally come to a slight understanding. He was not turning his back on Bruce or Batman, he was merely leaving the nest and becoming his own man, well person seeing as he's only thirteen. He took a deep breath finally ready to don his new persona for his first patrol in over a month. However before he could make it to his door Wally opened it wide. "Hey Dickie-bird it's almost time for patrol, ready to gear up?" Wally asked with a slight smile on his face. Richard returned the slight smile and nodded. "Been ready since yesterday!" Richard lied to his brother.

Wally resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Richard's stubbornness but nodded. "Alright, I'll meet you in the H.Q." Wally said dashing down the hall. Richard was left alone and obviously said speedster would slow down long enough to walk with him. He shook it off and made his descent into the kitchen and then into the H.Q. When he arrived in the H.Q everything seemed normal with the exception that both Roy and Wally were missing from it. Shrugging it off Richard made his way into the changing room and changed into his new sleek black outfit with a blue bird on the chest.

He searched five minutes for his mask but couldn't find it within his locker. Thinking that maybe Roy or Wally picked it up he walked back into the main area of Oath H.Q. When he entered it once more he was shocked to see the lights were out. "Probably a malfunction with some of the wires." He said with a sigh. "I'll make sure to fix that later." He added as an after thought. Scanning the darkness he saw a small light in the darkness and made his way over to it, only to discover it was a torch held by Roy in his Red Arrow outfit.

When Richard got close enough he saw Wally by his side in his Warp outfit holding a book and... his missing mask! Richard closed in on the duo rather quickly. "Hey guys know anything about the power outage?" He asked casually. "It's not a power outage, I turned off all the lights for a reason." Wally spoke to which Richard raised an eyebrow. "Why?" He asked unable to figure out why his brother would turn out all the lights. "Because it is time for you to officially join us in our patrol." Wally answered as Roy continued to hold the torch as still as a statue.

"And that has to do with turning the lights off, how?" Richard asked still trying to figure out his brothers' objective. "Speak your name." Roy said in monotone. Raising an eyebrow Richard turned to Wally who mouthed to just go with it. "Um Richard John 'Dick' Grayson aka Ricky Blake?" Richard offered hoping to finally end this mystery. "Richard Grayson do you swear to fight alongside your brothers even in their darkest hours?" Roy asked once more in monotone. "Ya..." Richard said trailing off. Roy shared a look with Wally before nodding.

"Now kneel." Roy commanded to which Richard did. "From this moment on, should you accept, you willl cast aside the name Robin in order to fight alongside your brothers. Do you accept these conditions?" Roy asked to which Richard nodded. "I do." He spoke his Oath visibly. "Then extinguish the torch and rise to join your brothers side as Nightwing!" Roy bellowed through the cave. Richard looked up at the torch and took a deep breath.
With one mighty gust of air Richard extinguished the flame. "Now rise young Nightwing." Roy told him to which he did so willingly. Wally handed him the mask and Richard looked at it for but a moment before slapping it onto his face offically becoming Nightwing. "Alright now I do believe it's time to kick some ass!" Roy said keeping the wise tone

Wally nodded dashing over to the control pannel to open up the driveway(don't know what else to call it.) "Thanks Roy. This really means a lot to me." Richard told his brother. Roy shrugged and wrapped an arm around him. "Anytime bro, we're always here for you." Roy replied as Wally dashed over to Richard's other side. "Yep so don't worry about it." Wally added having heard his comment. "Alright Warp, Red Arrow, let's get going!" Richard said with a smile. "You got it Nightwing. Now Oath Let's KICK SOME ASS!" Roy declared as he and Richard mounted their bikes while Wally dashed out of the headquarters with the duo right behind him.

alright that's it for Oath. Also an idea popped into my head while i writing Damian's father. Instead of Richard getting together with Artemis(sorry Traught lovers) what if I had Raven show up and join Oath? Of course she'd join when she's good in ready. This would also mean no slashes(sorry SuperFlash shippers) and instead would open up Artemis for wally. So Vote. Do you want Raven do enter Oath. Yes or No. Message me or Review your pick. If no then everything will go as previously planned. If yes then Raven will become Oathafied! In other news, Richie and Virgil(Gear and Static) will have their first debut in three chapters(maybe less). Another change is that they will be joining before the comfrontation with both Young Justice and the mentors. Also I'll be gone four days this week so don't expect any more updates for Oath until next week. That's all for now Ja Ne!
