Oath's First Night on the Job
Alright everyone, before we begin the results are in and though I am slightly disappointed I did leave it up to you guys. Traught has beaten RobRae. One person asked about Artemis joining Oath instead of Young Justice and I'll let you guys decide that one. More info at the end. For now on with the story
The three members of Oath all sat in their H.Q doing various tasks. Richard and Wally were in the middle of developing some boots to permanently increase Wally's speed. They had been working on them for almost two weeks and were close to a breakthrough. Roy on the other hand was looking over some crime reports from the past week. It had been nearly two weeks since all three members had been out on the field. Making it two and a half months since they had left.
Overall the three brothers had adapted rather well. Now they were just waiting for when their former mentors caught on, which would be soon. They knew it was just a matter of time but for now they were just enjoying each other's company. "Anything interesting in those reports?" Richard asked from his spot at Wally's feet. "Well aside from that bust full of venom, no." Roy said looking over said report. "That venom bust was weird; I mean no one in town uses the stuff." Wally commented crossing his arms over his chest.
"Wally's got a point. No one in town uses venom. I mean Bane's pratically the only one who uses it and he's all the way in Gotham." Richard agreed. Roy scrunched up his face looking down at the report. "Do you think it's possible that Bane is here in BludHaven?" He asked his brothers still looking down at the report. Richard looked up from his spot with a serious look on his face. "Do we know if he's escaped Arkham in the last week?" He asked just as Roy began typing away on the computer.
"He escaped two weeks ago and hasn't been seen since." Roy confirmed staring at the computer screen. "Then there's your answer. Bane is somewhere in BludHaven." Richard said standing up from his position. "And it's Oath's job to take him down." Wally added in agreement. "Alright then, I know we already went out on patrol but I think we should do another sweep of the city." Roy stated standing up from his spot. Wally glanced at the clock seeing it was almost three. "So I take it we're skipping school today?" He asked as Roy nodded.
"I'll talk to Mrs. Harkreader when we get back and explain we all came down with a sudden illness for the time we're gone." Roy answered looking at his brothers. "Time we're gone?" Richard asked puzzled by Roy's statement. "Yes, from this point on Bane is our top priority." Roy stated in his leader voice. "So basically until we catch him everything is on hold; including school?" Wally asked to which Roy nodded.
"Yes, Bane is used to only having to deal with a vigilante during the night; so if we're looking during both day and night, he's more likely to slip up." Roy answered causing his brothers to nod. "That's genius." Wally acknowledged with a large smile. "Alright Oath, let's get started." Roy instructed as they began to get ready for another sweep of the city.
A week later the members of Oath all crowded around the Oath Computer. It had taken a full week of searching both day and night but they finally got found it. The location Bane was at beeped as a red dot on the computer. "We finally got him." Roy said with a smirk on his face. "Took us long enough." Wally said with a slight smirk of his own. "Well then let's go get our first baddie." Richard said with a cackle.
The three of them were all dressed in their respective hero outfits, ready to get their baddie "Warp, I want you to go and scout the area ahead of time. Do not engage until we get there or their are civilians in immediate danger." Roy said putting on his mask and grabbing his bow. "You got it." Wally said pulling his cowl on. He slipped his goggles on and dashed off without a moment's hesitation. "Nightwing. You and I are going to prepare Plan Capture BBB." He said looking at Richard who had just put on his mask.
"Alright." Richard replied walking over to his motorcycle. Roy did the same and soon they were out in Bludhaven's streets on their way to Bane's location. Two minutes past before they arrived at the docking warehouse that Bane as currently stationed at. They spotted Warp a good distance away from the warehouse and pulled up to a stop. "What's the situation?" Red Arrow asked dismounting his motorcycle. "Bane's the only one inside. He's currently refilling his venom supply." Warp explained to which Nightwing nodded.
"Alright guys, here's the plan. Nightwing, I want you to go in first and lure him outside on my signal. Warp, I want you by the water ready to assist Wing when necessary. I'll be supporting from a short distance away." Red Arrow explained looking at each of his brothers as he said their parts. "Alright, let's get this done." Warp said dashing off to his spot.
Nightwing slipped off towards the warehouse while Red Arrow walked over to his bike. He flipped the seat over and pressed the button hidden under the padding. The wheels on the bike then split in half, as the bike began to seperate. The wheels slowly pulled apart increasing the length of the platform underneath the seat. Once it was done it looked more like a cross between a small stage and a quad. He stepped onto the platform and pulled out his bow.
He narrowed his eyes as he knocked back an arrow. He aimed at the door of the warehouse. "Nightwing, proceed with Plan CBBB whenever you are ready." He said after checking Warp's position. "Roger that, Operation Capture Big Bad Bane is a go." Nightwing's voice said over their com. "Yo Muscle Head, you should really lay off the drugs, I mean your ugly enough without them!" Nightwing's voice called from the com. An angry grunt was heard from the com and soon enough Bane charged through the steel doors of the warehouse, all venomed up.
Bane skidded to a stop and turned to face Nightwing who had dropped down from his spot. Bane roared and positioned himself to charge once more. "You will wish you had not done that child!" Bane declared charging Nightwing once more. "Warp, you are cleared for take off." Red Arrow said into his communicator, watching as the scene unfolded. "Got it." Was Warp's response.
Before Bane could close even half the distance between him and Nightwing; he was sent flying to the side. He crashed into a wall of one of the random warehouses in the area and glared at his attacker. Warp stood there shaking his hand in pain. "Man! That hurt! What is he made of? Steel?" Warp rambled as his shook away the pain. "I see, so there are two of them. Still not enough to pose a threat." Bane said calmly standing up from his spot on the dented wall. He cracked his neck as he made his way slowly over to the duo.
Red Arrow pressed a button on handle bars and pretty soon the stage like contraption was heading straight towards Bane. "Then how about three?!" He cried letting his arrow fly towards the muscle bound villain. It hit Bane's face and exploded on impact. Red Arrow jumped off of the vehicle right as it was passing his brothers. He rolled back into a standing position and drew another arrow back.
"So this is where the lost sidekicks went, huh." Bane asked as the smoke in his face cleared. "Not sidekicks muscle head. We're Oath." Red said glaring at the villain. "Not lost either. We left on our own terms." Warp quickly added. "Though it is a surprise to see you out of Gotham, Bane." Nightwing said with a light smirk. Bane chuckled at the comment focusing on him. "It is good to see you again little bird. Finally flown the nest, eh?" He asked getting in a battle ready stance.
"Something like that." Nightwing stated pulling out capsules in one hand. Warp clenched his fists and unclenched them rapidly building up enough kinetic energy for another super punch like he had done earlier. Red Arrow held out his fist towards Bane. "You guys know your jobs so..." He said trailing off before smirking. "LET'S KICK SOME ASS!" He declared launching an arrow from his glove. It managed to tear one of Bane's venom tubes causing him to cry out in pain.
Warp wasted no time super speeding towards Bane. He had his nunchuck in one hand as he ran. He pressed the button in mid run causing the chain to extend as he ran. He flew past Bane and immediately skidded to a stop turning the whole while. It was at that time that he let the button go, causing the chain to retract. As the chain retracted Wally span causing the metal piece to spin around the same way Warp had only it continued and ended up crashing into Bane's head, knocking him to the ground as well as rupturing another tube.
Nightwing rushed towards Bane and leapt high into the air. He threw one hand full of capsules at Bane's back where most of his tubes were. The capsules exploded freezing the tubes solid. Warp and Red Arrow waisted no time breaking them. Warp charged Bane with one fist ready to hit the lower section of his back and one to hit the back of his head. "YAMAZUKI!" He cried upon impact. The power launched Bane back once more shattered most of the frozen tubes. Red Arrow took care of the rest with a special shrapnel arrow that once exploded sent little shards out.
Nightwing who had landed on the ground threw his other hand full of capsules at Bane's body effectively freezing all of his limbs minus his head. The three heroes looked down at the shrunken villain and smirked. They heard sirens racing down the area as Nightwing smiled down at the villain. "Next time you want to do your drugs, do them somewhere else would ya?" He asked with a light cackle. Red Arrow transformed his bike back into it's original apperance while Nightwing mounted his. "Alright guys let's head back!" Red Arrow ordered as the trio set out on their way home.
An hour later the trio sat in their H.Q discussing the battle, well more like massacre. "Man Roy that was so cool how you took out the first tube with your arrow glove!" Wally exclaimed from his spot near the computer. Roy shrugged but smiled slightly. "Thanks and Richard nice job with the ice capsules." Roy commended the youngest who smiled brightly. "Ehh it was nothing compared to Wally's super punch." Richard pushed off causing the speedster to smile as well. "What you didn't like my Super Yamazuki?" Wally questioned teasingly.
"It was effective but did you really have to yell it out?" Roy asked slightly annoyed at the fact Wally had indeed yelled it out. "Of course! I mean that one guy did it in that anime and it still worked perfectly!" Wally defended openly. "Plus every anime character yells out their special attacks!" He added as an afterthought. Roy groaned and face palmed as Richard cackled. "Can't argue with that logic." He said in agreement. "I'll let it slide for now but no more super attacks, we're heroes not anime characters." Roy said as Wally sighed. "Fine but I still want to do it." Wally offered.
"As long as you don't yell out the name fine." Roy agreed. While the duo shook on it Richard had noticed a message on their computer and went to investigate. The main question on his mind was 'who could've gotten access to their computer to send a message'. The mystery was ended once he pressed the accept button. Batman, Flash and Green Arrow all appeared on the screen. The trio went wide eyed upon seeing their former mentors.
Batman spoke first. "This is a prerecorded message seeing as how, we don't when you'll arrive back." "What?" Richard asked slightly stunned at hearing his ex-mentor's voice. "The point of this message is to let you guys know, we've found you and we need to talk." Flash stated as Wally's heart began to race. "In simple terms this means: if you don't want us beating down your door and dragging you home, you'll meet us at following location." Green Arrow stated crossing his arms over his chest.
The trio studied their mentors closely. None looked happy, in fact they looked down right furious. "Three days from now, we will be in Star City. We will be dining at the local IHOP from eight to ten. You have been granted temporary access to the zeta beam for that day. If you do not show up, we will come and we will drag you home; with force if necessary." Batman spoke in monotone. The message ended there leaving the trio speechless. "They've found us." Richard muttered under his breath. Roy was the first to break from the trance.
"We knew they would eventually." He stated slapping himself once just to make sure he was no longer in the trance. "Your right." Wally said slapping himself as well. "So what do we do Roy?" Richard asked as if scared to ask. Roy took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. He saw their former mentors showing up and following through with their threat. He saw his brothers being taken away from him. Once he saw his brothers being taken away from him, his eyes snapped open.
"We meet with them." Roy stated sternly. "You sure?" Wally asked skeptically. Roy nodded confidently. "We're going to go and tell them that they can't stop us! We made our decision and they will not change it! Remember we made an Oath!" Roy explained full of determination. It seemed as Roy's confidence was contagious because Wally smiled at this. "That's right! We did make an Oath and I'm not going back on it!" Wally exclaimed in agreement. Richard smiled at this and nodded. "Yep and neither am I!" Richard said throwing in his thoughts.
"Well why don't we make our Oath a little more real?" Roy asked glancing to a special item he had bought about a week ago. He had originally wanted it to further remind him of his Oath but now it seemed that all of them might, not as a reminder; but as reassurance that they would never be alone. "How so Roy-boy?" Wally asked to which Roy grabbed the item. "We embed it into our skins!" Roy stated calmly holding it up for them to see.
Richard and Wally looked at each other before nodding. "Let's do it." They said union. "Alright but the question is where." Roy replied to them. "Somewhere not to noticable but somewhere we can always see it." Wally said as Richard snapped his fingers. "The underside of the wrist!" He exclaimed causing the other two to smile. "Alright then let's get started!" Roy declared holding up the device.
An hour later all three trio stood in a small circle showing the underside of their wrists. THe first letter was a white O. The second was a red A. The third letter was a yellow T. The fourth letter was a blue H. Spelling out OATH on their wrists.
"Two months ago we made created a family. A family where you are never alone." Roy began the first verse wrapping his arms around his brothers. "A family that will stand beside you even if the world should turn against you." Wally continued completely serious. "A family that will help you back up when you fall and kick whoever's ass that made you fall." Richard finished as they all closed their eyes for a moment. "This is our Oath!" They declared breaking the group huddle, confidence in every member. They looked on ready to take on the world and their former mentors should it be necessary.
Alright end of chapter. First off I'm sorry for not updating but I was doing a plot line and I've discovered without my little mini-arcs and specials that Oath will end up being 30-40 chapters long. All with 1k+ words, now... *I get pushed to the side by a man wearing a black trench coat and a white mask*
Man: Alright your no longer needed Author
Me: Hey I saw I'd handle the other message!
Man: ALright for those that don't know me. I am the King of Hearts aka the King of Badasses. Now I' bet your all wondering why I have decided to grace my presence among you mortals for.
*Rolls my eyes*
King of Hearts: YOu see I am the star of Janzen222's original story and he finished it a while ago. But you see he started writing a new version saying it'd take to much work to clean up the other. So what I'm hear to do is recruit some willing readers.
Me: This is advertising! DOn't I'll get banned!
KOH: Nah, I'm recruiting theirs a difference. Anyways I need some critical readers who will be willing to read the original story and the new version as Dumbass here writes it. Then they need to point out all the flaws and say which is better. That version will then sent to a publisher, once dumbass finds one willing to do it. Then it will either be published via amazon or the publisher.
