Meeting the Mentors
Alright everyone before I begin, I'd like to state something. I'm extremely nervous about writing this chapter because this is what it all comes down to. What I mean is the quality of this chapter will be the deciding point of this version. To see if Oath truly has evolved. I know every writer on here loves reviews but for this one chapter I NEED them. I need to know if this version is truly the best I can do. SO if you've never reviewed or are one of my favorite reviewers I need you to review. For the sake of Oath Review.

Richard, Roy, and Wally all road down the barren highway towards their destination. Roy had booked them a few nights at an expensive hotel and after talking to Mrs. Harkreader about everything, because apparently she was really good as seeing through lies, were given all of their work and given permission to do whatever was necessary as fast as possible. Apparently they were her favorite students and she didn't want them gone to long.

They arrived at the hotel around eight having set out at six. It was a large five star hotel. They parked their bikes in the parking lot and swung their duffel bags over their shoulders. They weren't scheduled to be at the IHOP until the next day so this would give them a day to survey the town and find possible escape routes in case their former mentors decided to become violent.

They walked into the luxurious lobby of the hotel and Richard cackled. "Wow, Roy. We so don't look like we belong here." He said to which Wally shook his head. "At least the dye is finally coming out so we don't look so bad." Wally stated as Roy nodded. "I'll get us checked in." Roy told his brothers, walking towards the receptionist.

Wally glanced at Richard who was looking around nervously. "Do you think they know were staying here?" He asked softly. Wally smiled slightly and wrapped around an arm around his younger brother. "Most likely, after all, bats did find us. I wouldn't put it past him to monitor our bathroom visits." Wally replied trying to add a little humor to the situation. Richard chuckled weakly at this and nodded.

It was at that moment Roy decided to reappear with three cards in his hand. "Were on the top floor. Room 657." Roy told them handing a card to each of his brothers. Richard and Wally nodded as Roy led them to the elevator. When it opened it was empty and so the three brothers stepped in and Wally pressed the top button.

Soon the elevator opened once more at the top floor. After about two minutes they found their room and opened her up. Inside was a giant living room complete with a leather couch and everything. To the side was a fully stocked fridge and a bunch of expensive looking cooking appliances.

There were three rooms off to the side with king sized beds and oak wood dressers. "Alright everyone, put your stuff away. Once we're all settled, we'll start our surveying of the IHOP." Roy explained to them. "But Roy, this is Star City. Don't you know every route here?" Wally complained desperately having seen the all you can eat buffet sign on the way to the elevator.

"I do, but you guys don't." Roy said with a roll of his eyes. Deciding he wouldn't get anywhere, he looked at Richard and asked a silent request. With a sigh Richard nodded. "But Roy, shouldn't we take this time to relax so we're clear headed for the meeting tomorrow?" Richard asked giving Roy the puppy dog eyes.

Roy turned to Wally for support only to find Wally doing the same thing. "Alright. Alright. TUrn them off. We can use the day to get some relaxation done." Roy said in exasperation. Wally and Richard immediately smiled in victory and did a quick high-five.

"Alright, I guess we're free to do whatever we want. So what shall we do first?" Wally asked immediately excited at the prospect of having some free time. "Well, I don't know about you guys, but I saw a spa that has my name on it." Roy said with a small smirk.

"Well then, I guess that leaves you and me Dickie-bird." Wally said turning to Richard. "Actually, Wally. I need to catch up on some sleep. You know pulling several all nighters on those boots have kinda exhausted me." Richard said sheepishly. "Well, then I guess. I'm heading to the buffet alone." Wally said with a shrug. "How about this. At noon we'll all meet at the lobby alright? I'll show you guys some of my favorite places in Star City." Roy offered knowing they needed to have some casual bro time before the meeting.

"Sounds good to me. I'll see you guys at noon." Wally said dashing off after setting his duffel bag. "Same here. I'll see you guys at noon." Richard said walking towards his room after having snagged Roy's bag. "Have fun at the SPA!" Richard called out emphasizing the word as Roy walked out the door.

"I should've never told them what I was actually planning." Roy mumbled to himself walking down to the spa. When he arrived the woman raised an eyebrow. "Sorry kid, i don't think your parents would approve." She said dismissively. Roy rolled his eyes. "Don't got any parents. Using my inheritance decided to take my two younger brothers out to Star City for a small vacation to try and make them feel any better." Roy stated to which the woman's eyes widened.

"Oh, I am so sorry. Right this way." She quickly said leading him towards a room. Roy smirked as they arrived and he began his mainly spa treatment...

Wally arrived at the buffet with eyes the size of the plates that the food was being served on. Without wasting a moment he began to pile food on his plates, with the intention of licking all the plates clean.

Richard sat in the middle of the living room having moved the table out of the way. Sure, he had said he was going to get some sleep, but he was going to do some meditation instead. After all, he needed to be mentally prepared for tomorrow.

Three hours later, Wally and Roy both waited in the lobby. "What's taking Richard so long?" Wally asked tapping his foot impatiently. Suddenly the elevator doors opened and Richard stepped out with an older man who was laughing his head off. The two super heroes immediately recognized him as Jack Haley, the ring master of Haley's Circus.

"Hey guys, sorry I'm late. Was just catching up with Mr. Haley here." Richard said motioning to the man in question. Wally and Roy both smiled and extended a hand out to the old man. To their surprise he embraced them in a bone crushing hug. "Any family of Dick's is a family of mine." He said releasing them with large smile.

"So, Mr. Haley. If you don't mind me asking, how did you know Dick was here?" Roy asked still trying to catch his breath from the hug. Jack had a twinkle in his eye as his mouth held a soft smile on its face.

"Saw you boys walking into the hotel, and overheard what room you were in, so I decided to visit my favorite grandson especially after hearing he had gone missing." Jack explained gently. "That reminds me. Guys, Old Jack here needs a favor." Richard spoke up causing Wally to raise an eyebrow.

"Sure, what can do we for you Mr. Haley?" Wally asked tilting his head to the side. "Well you see, my best act just quit on me and we have a show tomorrow night and I was wondering if you boys could fill in for them." Jack explained to which Roy looked at Wally and nodded. "Of course we'll help." Roy answered with a small smile on his face. "Oh thank you boys. I'd appreciate it if you could be at the big top by three tomorrow for practice." Jack exclaimed happily.

"Hey it's no problem Mr. Haley. After all any family of Dick's is a family of ours." Wally proclaimed as he and Jack entered a hug fest dragging Richard and Roy with them.

Several Hours later

Roy, Richard, and Wally all stood on the balcony of their room, looking out over the big city. The whole city was lit up and in the darkness of the night provided one of the best views one could ask for of Star City. "So tomorrow is what it all comes down to, huh?" Wally asked leaning his arms on the balcony. He was hunched over looking directly down at the city. "Ya, tomorrow is when we find out if our Oath is strong enough to survive three of the league's best." Roy answered crossing his arms over his chest.

"Oh, you guys worry to much. We'll show them that we are one hundred percent serious about this after all we are Bludhaven's first super heroes." Richard added in with a small smile. "You know, you say some pretty wise things, Richard." Roy said letting a small smile grace his lips. "Ya some pretty wise things for an evil leprechaun." Wally said with a small laugh.

Richard's eye twitched as he turned to his older brother. "Call me that one more time and I will hang you from this balcony via zip line." He threatened causing Wally to burst out laughing. "Only if you can catch me, you evil leprechaun!" He declared super speeding back into the house. Richard chased after him and Roy watched in slight amusement as Richard got Wally in a head lock.

"Take it back!" He yelled at the speedster. "Never! You evil evil evil leprechaun!" Wally declared from his position. "You know, maybe I should go back with Green Arrow just to get away from this craziness." Roy teased causing both of his brothers to turn to him. "Your joking right?" Richard asked completely stunned.

Roy looked at the serious faces of his brothers before breaking a rare, true Roy smile. "Nah, I'd die of boredom in a week!" Roy answered jumping into the sudden wrestling contest. They stayed up for hours enjoying the others company until they all eventually passed out.

The next morning.

The three brothers arrived at IHOP at exactly 7:55AM. Five minutes early. They were immediately taken to a booth by the young waitress. After ordering breakfast and a couple cups of coffee for them and their mentors, they began to wait. Three minutes later there were a total of ten cups of coffee on the table. Two for each non-meta hero when the ex mentors arrived.

Sure enough at exactly 8:00 AM, the waitress from before arrived with three of the leagues best. There before them stood three men they had not seen in over two months. Oliver Queen stood tall and attempted to look calm but wasn't very good at it because his nervousness showed. Barry Allen stood there with a sympathetic look on his face. For the first time in Wally's life he saw his uncle not super happy.

Bruce looked as stoic as ever. "Bout time you guys arrived, we almost thought you flanked on us." Roy said rolling his eyes and leaning back. "Roy." Ollie said looking down at his young ward. "Old man." Roy muttered in return. "Uncle Barry." Wally muttered meeting his uncles eyes. "Heya kid, you know you gave your mom and me a hard attack when you disappeared." Barry said attempting to act casual.

"Dick." Bruce said meeting his former wards eyes. "Bruce." Richard replied just stoic. "Are you guys gonna sit down and drink the damn coffee we ordered for you or what?" Roy asked crossing his arms over his shoulder. Sure enough the three adult heroes squeezed into their side of the booth.

"Alright so get to talking. We've got practice in a few hours and I'd prefer we're not late." Roy told them letting some of his frustration show. The three ex mentors looked at each before Barry spoke.

"Look, we understand why you guys did what you did. So instead of trying to take you back like we originally planned. We wanna offer you something more."

"Like what?" Was Wally's response. "We've put together a covert team. It currently consists of Miss Martian, Aqualad, Zatana, Superboy and Artemis. We want to add your name to this roster as well." Bruce spoke looking at each of the young hereoes.

The three brothers looked at each other all having a silent conversation.

"You would not be required to stay with-" "Sorry Bruce, we're not interested." Richard interrupted staring down his former mentor. "Not interested?!" Ollie nearly shouted. "Ya, while it's true we did miss you guys; we have no intention of joining your juinor justice league." Roy added in agreement.

"I see and what are your intentions?" Bruce asked narrowing his eyes just slightly. Both Wally and Richard looked at Roy indicating he should tell them. "Our intentions are our own business." "Like hell it is" "HOWEVER! If you truly want to reconnect then it's on our terms not yours!"Roy growled out, glaring at Ollie for his interruption.

"And what exactly are your terms?" Barry asked slightly concerned. "For one Oath stays together. Two, if you have a job that your little mini justice league can't do; then you bring it to us. We'll complete it. Three, we are not required to follow any of your orders. Finally, we do things our way or not at all." Roy explained with a small smirk.

The three mentors looked at each and then at their former proteges. "Fine, we accept your conditions. From this point on, Oath is both a part of the Justice League and not at the same time. You will only be called in when Young Justice cannot handle the mission, or if it is an emergancy. Other then that Oath is it's own group. " Bruce said with a smug smile. "That work with you guys?" Roy asked his younger brothers.

"Works with me. I look forward to working with you again Uncle Barry." Wally said holding out his hand. "Same here Kid." Barry replied his trademark smile returning. "Works with me. Though, I should warn you bats. If you want to enter our city you must ask permission first or we will immediately assume you are a threat and will deal with you accordingly." Richard said with a small smirk.

Bruce's eyes narrowed. "You've learned well Richard." Bruce said with a cocky smirk of his own. "Can't believe just two months ago, you were my cocky little sidekick. Now your the leader of your own group. Wait till Dinah hears about this." Ollie said with a small smile.

The six heroes then stood up having finished their food during the conversation, well more like negotiations. "So boys, we will see you tomorrow to discuss things further." Barry said as Wally smiled sheepishly. "Actually, Uncle Barry. We're gonna be out of town for the next week or so." Wally said rubbing the back of his head.

"And why is that?" Ollie asked curious as to what the young heroes could be doing. "Mr. Haley asked us to fill in until he can get another act and well we just couldn't say no." Richard answered with a cheeky smile. "Ya, so for the next week or so Oath will be traveling with Haley's circus until they can find another act." Roy added in. Suddenly all three of the older heroes had a knowing look on their faces but before Barry could speak Bruce interrupted him.

"Then contact us when you return and we will schedule in a meeting." Bruce said as the members of Oath nodded. "Alright, c'mon boys. We've got practice." Roy declared leading them off towards the big top. "Bruce, why didn't you tell them that Young Justice is currently traveling with Haley's circus trying to stop the mysterious crimes?" Barry asked puzzled by the dark knights logic.

"They want it their way, they'll get it their way. Plus this will be more interesting." Bruce said turning away and leading the other two away.

An hour later with Oath

The members of Oath were stunned by the big top and were completely amazed by it and couldn't take their eyes from wandering until they walked into some people.

"Oh man sorry about that." A man with dark skin and dark hair said from his spot on the ground. Roy rubbed his head as he took in the young man. He couldn't have been older then Wally and neither could the other young man beside him. The other young man they had bumped into had light skin and blonde hair. "It's alright." Roy stated as he and Richard helped the duo up.

"THe show doesn't start for another few hours so what are you guys doing here?" The dark skinned man asked. "We're filling in until Mr. Haley can find another act." Wally informed the duo. "Oh nice. I'm Virgil and my clumsy friend here is Richie." The teen now known as Virgil said holding his hand out. "I'm Roy, the evil leprechaun behind me is Richard and the other red head is Wally." Roy introduced him and his brothers.

"Nice to meet ya." Richie said shaking Richard's hand. Richard suddenly had a knowing look on his face but smiled none the less. "Same here." Richard replied. "VIRGIL! RICHIE! I need some help over here!" A mans voice called out from behind them. "Well duty calls. We'll catch you guys later." Virgil said with a small smile.

"Definitely." Richard said as Virgil dragged Richie off with him. When they were out of earshot Richard's grin expanded at an alarming rate. "Dickie-bird whats with that knowing look on your face?" Wally asked to which Richard cackled loudly. "Do you know who those guys are?" Richard asked in amusement.

"Um two guys who work at a circus?" Roy offered in hopes of getting Richard to explain. "Dude, we just met Static Shock and his partner Gear!" Richard answered excitedly as Roy and Wally took in this information.

"WHAT?!"

Alrights thats the end of this chapter. 3k words, you guys should be pretty happy. Meant to have this done earlier but I found out I'm going to be an ya, like I said before review. and look Gear and Static finally made their first appearance(actual). Six days late but who cares.
