Disclaimer: I don't own Ouran High School Host Club!
Karei's P.O.V. (Ouran High School Hallways)
Oh my god! What if she's my long lost twin or something?!
…Now that I think about it…
"THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!" I screamed out loud. I quickly slap my mouth. I heard screaming and cheers from the hallways and immediately walked out the toilet. In front of my very eyes are at least a quarter of the whole school, looking at me with sparkling eyes and blushing faces.
Whoops.
I realized the situation I was in and immediately run as fast as my legs could take me. The groups of fangirls and fanboys behind me chased me, screaming my name repeatedly. When one of the fanboys grabbed my leg, I twisted it around as quickly as I can, making the poor guy fall.
The others came to help him and I jumped into a sprint. Not long after, the crowd caught up to me yet again and I had a string of swearing words muttered under my breath.
Fortunately, I found the Host Club room by mere chance and opened the door. I wiped the sweat all over my forehead, panting slightly. Crap, that was intense.
"Hey, look! Karei!"
I turned my head around and saw Renge-chan. I smiled and waved at her as she approaches me. Suddenly, she grabbed my arm forcefully and dragged me to someone. And as if it was fate, there standing right in front of me is the pretty brunette I met just now.
"Karei, this is Manami Cho. His surname is really close to yours. Cho, this is Minami Karei," Renge introduced, grinning from ear to ear. Wait… Minami, Manami… that's way too close, it can't be a coincidence. I observed her from up to down, you can't be too careful after all.
She looked pretty uncomfortable with my staring; I didn't even notice her small wave. I pointed my index finger at her, exclaiming, "You aren't a secret agent sent to be my doppelganger and follow me and/or ruin my life are you?"
She blinked at me, answering, "I, uh, what? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure I'm not a secret agent."
Hmm… sounds promising enough… I gave her my best smile, "Oh, okay. I'm sorry for that. You can never be too sure of people."
"It's okay. I'm sorry for running into you earlier," she said, bowing her head slightly.
I shook my head uncaringly, "That's okay. I wasn't paying attention either." I gave her a hand gesture as if saying goodbye and walked over to Renge-chan.
I smiled to myself as I walked. Cho-chan, huh? She seems like a nice girl, I hope we'll be friends.
Little do I know this is the start of our adventure and it all started because of this crazy Ouran Host Club.
Hikaru's P.O.V.
I ran up to Karei, two 3DSs in hand and a grin on my face.
"Yo Karei! Still up for that multiplayer?"
She had the widest smile on her face and her turquois eyes twinkled in a mock-haughty way, "You bet! Let's roll!"
We both made our way to one of the couches in the room and plopped simultaneously on it. Not five minutes later, we were already in a heated Pokémon Multi Battle, both of us down to our last Pokémon.
I was horrified; my Chesnaught was barely standing with its remaining bar of HP. What shocked me more was that Karei's Greninja was still up on its feet, its HP bar mostly full. And I was on the type-advantage too!
"Greninja, water shuriken again!" Karei cried out, full of spirit. Just like that, my Chesnaught fainted and sent back to its Pokéball.
My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. I lost. To a girl! Karei gave me a victorious smirk as I was left speechless.
"Rematch?" she asked energetically, her smirk wide as ever.
I sighed and set my 3DS on the coffee table, placing both of my hands behind my head, I leaned back on the couch, "No thanks, I don't want to get my butt kicked twice a day…"
Karei nodded and copied my actions, but instead set her feet on the arm of the couch, her head resting right beside me. "What do you wanna do now?"
I was just about to answer if it weren't for Kaoru walking over to us. "Are you two finally done?"
"Pretty much," Karei answered in ease. My eyes wandered around the room, failing to spot the other brunette newcomer.
"Oi Kaoru, where's Cho?" I questioned.
He gave me a shrug and pointed his thumb to some random direction, "I'm going to look for him, be right back."
I watched as he disappeared from my view and noticed that the room was empty. Honey-senpai and Mori-senpai were out today, Kyoya-senpai was probably working on the club's accounting and Milord, Haruhi and the manga-freak manager's whereabouts were unknown.
The atmosphere was serene and quiet, aside from some vehicle noises from the outside. I sat there in the comfortable silence, my hands lowering from its position behind my head. My left hand suddenly felt something soft and silky.
My head turned to the source and realized that it was actually Karei's brown locks. I smiled and fondled with her brown tresses, the fragrance of lavender once again entering my nostrils.
My eyes trailed off from her brown locks and onto her peaceful sleeping face. Her closed eyes made her eyelashes look longer, making her look graceful, not that she isn't generally. Her small nose twitched from time to time in a cute manner, so much that it made me want to laugh.
My eyes once again moved from her nose to her lips. They were slightly parted and I can occasionally hear her soft breathing. Without my control, my hand suddenly moved until my finger touched her bottom lip.
My thumb rested under her lip while my index finger was stroking her lower lip gently. It felt strangely great and what's more unusual was the fact that my other hand suddenly started caressing her cheek. A sudden sensation to kiss her made its way to my brain.
Pink dusted my cheeks as the thought became more and more tempting. What was I thinking? My face unrestrainedly moved closer and closer to hers, my eyes watching her upside down face the whole time. Why can't I control myself?
Just before my lips brushed hers, I heard her move and saw her head turn to the side. I immediately retract back to my original position, cheeks still flared.
I heard her moan a few times in her sleep, moving from side to side. I kept my eyes away from her whilst trying to get rid of the blush on my face.
"Hikaru…"
The half-cracked voice was enough to make me jumpy, but the fact that it was Karei's voice made my heart beat twice faster than normal. With little courage, I faced her, rubbing her eyes adorably. I think she'd fit to be Honey-senpai's replacement.
Once she was fully awake, she turned to me and tilted her head to the right, "Did anything happen to me while I was sleeping?"
I fought back a blush and shook my head no. I cannot let her know about what I did to her. Her expression turned confused and her finger rose to her lips, touching it slightly, "Huh, I could've sworn I felt someone caressing my lips…"
This time, I failed and soon my face was completely flushed red. Words started to form in my brain to be said, but they never escaped my lips. A loud thud echoed throughout the room.
"What was that?" Karei asked, her head jolting to the source of sound, "C'mon Hikaru, let's check whatever it is!" Her hand instantly seized mine and soon enough we were running around, finding the other Hosts and Renge in the process and eventually ended up in front of the room, where we found Cho and Kaoru.
It wasn't anything important or interesting though, just some drama about Cho actually a girl and lying or something. With all the drama that happened, I didn't even notice Karei's hand, still intertwined with mine.
When she suddenly squeezed my hand, we finally became aware of it and she immediately released, cheeks pink and started walking away from me. Weirdly enough, I felt sad when the warmth of her hand faded.
Why was I sad all of a sudden?
Karei's P.O.V.
Why? Why did my heart feel weird after my hand left Hikaru's?
SLAM!
I yelped from the unexpected and loud sound. I observed the room to see that Chou-chan had disappeared.
I saw Kyoya-senpai walking over to me and fixed his glasses, stating, "It seems Chou has left without her bag, would you mind bringing it to her? You're going home soon too, aren't you Karei?"
I nodded, understanding what he meant and grabbed both Chou-chan's and my bag. Just as I was going to leave, Kyoya-senpai stopped me by showing me a piece of paper with scribbles of digits written on it, "Give this to Chou and tell her to call me ASAP."
I took it from him and nodded. After bidding farewell, I chased after Chou-chan. Fortunately, there were no fangirls or fanboys to disrupt me. I easily spotted the brunette, stomping angrily by the hallways. I called out her name whilst running towards her.
"Go away, Kaoru."
"I'm not Kaoru," I corrected, running up to her, "Kyoya-senpai said for me to tell you to call him. Here's his number." I gave her the strip of paper as she punched in the number into her phone.
Sometime in the middle of her conversation, she started gazing at me confusedly. Was there something on my face or something? The sound of her phone dropping snapped me to reality.
"Chou-chan, what's the matter? Why did you drop your phone? What did he say to you? Why do you look so shocked?" I blurted rapidly.
She picked up the phone and said something before shoving the phone to me. I took it and placed it near my ear, "What's up, Kyoya-senpai?"
"Long story short, Chou's your cousin."
My eyes widened. Chou-chan's my cousin? "Are you serious? Are you fully sure?"
"Yes."
"Oh my God! Sorry Kyoya-senpai! I have to hang up! Bye!" I concluded, hanging up. I handed Chou-chan her phone, a wide smile on my face.
"You're my cousin." I nodded eagerly.
"You're my cousin," she stated again, her lips slowly tugging into a smile.
"You're my cousin! This is so cool! You totally need to spend the night over at my house tonight. My mom won't mind, and my dad is on a business trip. Wait, your parents won't mind will they?" she babbled.
"Well, I live by myself in a hotel, so I'm pretty sure they won't," I explained, handing her her bag.
"Do you have anywhere else to go?" she enquired, voice full of concern. I shook my head no.
"Wait, a minute! There's a house next to mine. It's empty, but it's not all old and dirty. It's actually quite nice. You could live there. We could go to school, and have sleep-overs, and hang out every day!" she rambled on, but suddenly stop.
"I'm sorry, that was a bit much, huh? I need to take a chill pill. You haven't even said if you wanted to yet," she continued.
Hmm… if I move there, I don't have to put up with the pampered life and I can actually be free from grandma's orders… I nodded at her, smiling, "Sure, I would love to live there! The agency might not be able to find me then."
We started talking about random things, but I interjected, "Hey, can you come with me to my apartment? I need to grab some things for tonight, and I'm going to get some things for the house."
"Sure, totally," she replied, grinning.
We headed to the entrance of the school. She took out a pair of skates and I took out my skateboard, simultaneously at that, "I guess we can always go skating together."
"Yeah, totally!" I agreed vigorously.
As we skated, with me leading of course, I saw Chou-chan suddenly stop. I skated to her, questioning "Chou-chan? What's the matter? Is something bothering you?"
"Nothing. Well, nothing is bothering me. Come with me for a second," she grabbed my hand and looked around. She then pushed through fake vines and dragged me to somewhere.
"Here we are," she declared.
I gasped at the sight of it. The park she took me to was simply breathtaking. There were beautiful cherry blossom trees, its leaves fluttering in the wind. There were a few benches here and there, but the most fascinating thing there was the ivory fountain centering the beautiful scenery.
"Wow, it's so beautiful… What a pretty fountain," I ran up to the fountain and watched the lotus flowers and many multicoloured fishes in it, "Are these koi fish?"
"Yeah, this is my little secret hiding place. I come here whenever I feel sad or when I need inspiration. It's pretty and really peaceful. Hardly anyone knows it's here," she explained, sitting down on a bench, "Only three people know."
"If me and you know, then who is the other person?" I questioned, sitting alongside her.
Her cheeks flushed adorably as she stuttered, "Well, t-the guy I like knows where this is."
I made an understanding 'hmm' sound. The orange-ish sunset hue on park turned darker. Was it night already? I gazed up at the sky and gasped.
"What is it?"
"This looks like the place where Kaoru took your picture," I asserted, turning to her.
She nervously slid down on the bench and I grinned triumphantly, "You like Kaoru!" She nodded sheepishly.
She put a finger onto her lips, pleading, "Please don't tell anyone, okay?"
I nodded and smiled at her. I have to tell Hikaru about this!
"Okay, lets head to your apartment before it gets dark," she suggested. A few minutes later, we arrived at the hotel.
"Oh, my gosh! This place is huge!"
