The Phantress of Paranorma Dame

Ch. 4-God Help The Outcasts

As the disguised duo and their invisible comrade who had been following them entered the church and closed the doors the trio revealed themselves, gaping at the wonder and awe that the interior of the cathedral was known for. Walking further in inside Darren parted ways, heading for the back of the church, telling the two over his shoulder, "You two stay around here. I have to go meet up with someone real quickl then I will be back."

Watching him head into the backof the building Sam and Tucker continued to look at the interior of the hall, never knowing that there was somebody slowly approaching from behind. After seeing the "old man" quickly hobble in Danny had Cujo move their way over to the house of God, got off the horse, took off his helmet and set it on the saddle, then entered makig sure that he made no noise as possible as he closed the the giant door and came up from behind. When he was about to alert his prescence the dancer got an unnerving sense that someone was behind her. Reaching around and grabbing the dark blue cape she pulled the soldier down, pulling his sword out at the same time. As he began to scramble backwards she recognized the man from earlier and growled, "You!"

Trying his best not to get sliced by his own blade Danny advised hoping not to get her to back off, "Easy now. I've already saved just this morning."

"Is that so?," Sam asked, continuing to walk forward with her companion following right behind. "It looks to me like you missed a spot."

Feeling himself butt up against a pillar the captain held up his hands in defense and pleaded, "Okay, okay, let's just be rational about this. Please, give me a chance to apologize."

Holding the weapon ever so closely Sam let up on her guard only for a second as she asked, "Apologize for what?"

"Well, for an example, this," Danny pointed out grabbing and ripping the sword out of her hand, at the same time kicking the gypsy in the stomach sending her to the ground. With that he got up off the floor a grin spreading across his face.

Quickly recovering from the jab to her abdomen Sam's temper unsteadily rose a few levels a she glared at the soldier and seethed, "Why you unbelievable son of a-"

"Whoah, you may want to watch your mouth around here," the man of war pointed out, interrupting just as Sam was about finish her sentence. "You are in a church after all."

"Are you always charming like this, or did I just get lucky?," the dancer inquired, getting up and grabbing a standing candelabra next to her, using it as a weapon and swinging it at his legs.

Blocking the swing the captain continued to counter her attack, at the same time playfully commenting, "Ah, candelight, privacy, music. I really can't think of a better setting for a hand-to-hand combat battle."

Diverting another strike aimed for his head he complimented, "You know, you fight almost as well as a man does."

Taking the appreciation and throwing it back as an insult Sam snarkly replied, "That's funny because I was just going to say the same thing about you."

Pushing off from him the two separated a couple of feet from each other, each ready to go for a second round. Not flattered by the remark Danny clarified, "Don't you think that's hitting a little below the belt?"

"Not at all," the gypsy replied, smirking. Swinging the stand towards the young man's crotch she added, "But this is."

Blocking the advance Danny thought he had the upper advantage but he was proven wrong when the base of the candelabra came into his vision and knocked him upside the head. Shaking the dizziness that came after he sheepishly smiled and commented, "Touche," then out of nowhere Danny was doubled over when Tucker used his supergenius head to butt the duo's adversary in the chest. The two slowly backing up the captain leaned back up and observed, "Never figured that he could put up a fight like that."

Scowling Tucker sneered, "Well, I've never taken kindly to soldiers anyways."

"Eh, I kinda noticed," Danny commented, clearing his throat a little bit. Deciding to go a different direction he continued, "If you will allow me I'm Danny. It means 'God is my judge'. Who might you two be?"

The pair stare at their opposer for a few seconds then looked at each other, not believing what was going on. Changing her gaze back Sam queried, "What is this, an interrogation or something?"

"Well, I do believe it's called an introduction," Danny pointed out, another smile playing at his lips.

Getting very confused by the man's actions Sam expressed an uneasy look on her face and asked, "Wait, you're not going to arrest us for what we did?"

"So as long as you're within the walls of the church, I'm not allowed to do a single thing," the captain explained, keeping his body language calm and collected.

Seeing that their adversary wanted to be on neutral terms Sam set the candelabra back down and said, "Huh, you certainly not like any of the soldiers we've had to escape."

Feeling a little enamored about the remark Danny returned, "Thank you."

"Well, if you're not here to arrest us," Sam prodded while stepping closer to the soldier. "Then what do you want?"

"For now I'd just settle for what your name is," Danny reminded, getting closer as well.

Giving him a few moments of silence Sam smiled a little and answered, "Samantha, but called me Sam. I hate being called by my full name. And my friend who so graciously head-butted you is Tucker."

"Well, I think it's beautiful, even though it's a nickname," Danny complimented, completely understanding the request at the same time giving a nod to Tucker. "Definitely an improvement from Daniel that's for sure."

The two continuing to stare into each others' eyes they didn't notice that Darren had returned, the ghost walking up next to Tucker who had jumped in surprise at the sudden prescence of his friend who looked at the young lad with a sneaky glint in his eye and piped up, "Your mother thought it was a good name. She would always tell me that if she ever had a boy she would name him Daniel."

Completely startled by the sudden sound Danny instinctively went for his sword and darted his glance at the newcomer, quickly relaxing when he recognized the long-time family friend that he knew since childhood. Grinning happily he greeted holding out his hand, "Darren, you ghoulish fiend! I thought you looked familiar during the show but I just wasn't sure if it was you or not. Certainly been a long time since I've seen you since going to war."

"A lot of things came up in our little community," Darren explained, grabbing the extended hand and shaking it. "New business, new people to acclimate, the usual only tripled. Everything got so loaded I never got the chance to see you before you left. And look at how far you've come since then. Fate certainly treated you well to give you this high of a title."

"Well, it's not a high title but it is up there," the captain agreed, feeling humble about the comment.

Suddenly out of nowhere a chilling voice boomed through spacious foyer, "Excellent work, Captain Fenton! Now take them into custody immediately!"

All of them whirring to see who had given the order it was to their shock that it was Judge Phantom after finding out where Danny had gone to and seeing that he had found the targets in question. Watching Phantom walk towards them Danny turned back and whispered to the trio, "Quick, claim sanctuary!"

However the look Sam was giving him was clearly saying that she wasn't going to agree to the suggestion. Trying not to get stressed about not getting an answer Danny whispered again, "You've got to say it! Please!"

"How can I when I can clearly see now that you've decieved us from the start," the dancer stated while getting behind her ghostly guardian.

"Captain, I am waiting," Damen impatiently informed, reaching the group while surveying nothing happening after giving his order.

Mentally scrambling to find a way out of the decree Danny took his own advice and told his superior, "I'm sorry to say sir but they've claimed sanctuary at the last second. By church law there's nothing I can do."

His temper once again sky rocketing the judge directed in a furious tone, "Then get them dragged outside the doors and-"

Out of nowhere Archdeacon Vlad's voice interrupted Phantom's directive, moving quickly as he could when he heard what was going on, bravely telling the spectre, "Phantom, you will not touch them so as long as they have claimed their sanctuary!"

Glaring at the clergyman Phantom saw that he had no choice but to retreat. Signaling his men to fall back he turned and took his leave, not before sneaking behind a pillar and waiting for a certain individual to walk by. Taking Danny by the arm Masters led him to the doors with the trio following behind Darren bringing up the rear. Slowing his pace and watching his friends see the young man he watched over since was born out he was suddenly grabbed from behind by the neck and almost thrown against a pillar. Having only a second to realize what was going on Damen whispered in a growl, "You know, I'm actually really surprised by you. To think that you can outwit me with your ability to use your powers freely in the city is quite the surprise but I am a paitent spectre and I will find the reason why. But I will warn you now. Stay away from the bell ringer if you know what's good for you."

"And what will you do if I decide to refuse your warning?," Darren managed to wheeze while a glare quickly forming in his eyes.

Quickly getting infuriated by the look the judge tightened his grip and threatened, "Let's just say that if you don't I'll personally see to it that you are eliminated from the face of this city once and for all."

Unable to control his rage the gypsy grabbed the hand crushing his throat, broke the grip, and shoved Phantom away almost using his ghostly

energy to give his strength some added push. Shocked by the sheer force Damen grinned maliciously and quipped, "Well, my boy, you've made a big mistake now. Now I get to go after your head just at the right moment, whenever I want that moment to be."

Turning away to leave he added louder, "You've certainly picked a wonderful prison for you and your companions, however it is a prison nonetheless. After all, gypsies don't do well inside store walls. Either one of you step foot outside those doors and you're mine for good."

Quickly making his exit, passing by Sam and Tucker who heard the last part as they were walking back, Phantom shut the doors behind him trapping the trio in. Unable to believe it Darren ran over to another door and wrenched it open only to see a squad of guards and hear one on horseback, "It's Phantom's orders! Post a guard at each and every door."

Slamming the door back shut Darren put his back to it and slid down to the floor, clearly getting frustrated at the current events. Feeling worried about their friend Sam and Tucker went over and crouched down on either side of him to comfort him. Seeing his friends Darren assured them, "Don't worry, you two. If Phantom thinks that he can scare us by keeping us in here he's got another thing coming."

"I wouldn't act too rashly if I were you, my boy," Vlad advised while lighting a few candles next to the trio. "I must say you three created quite a show at the festival. However I think it would be unwise to arouse Phantom's anger any further."

"But you saw what he did while he was out there, letting those people torture that young woman the way they did," Darren pointed out as he got up. "I couldn't let that happen, especially to her. So I thought that if I could show him that one person wasn't going to tolerate his madness then-"

Unable to finish his sentence Darren sighed then asked, "What do they have against beings who look or act different, anyways?"

"I'm afraid even you can't right all the wrongs in the world, let alone the city," the archdeacon outlined with a smile on his face.

"Well, one thing's for certain nobody out there will be willing to help," Darren retorted with a disdained expression on his face.

Gesturing to the church itself Masters suggested, "Then perhaps there's someone in here who will be."

Leaving them alone to handle some other chruchly matters the trio walked over to an inset room where a statue of the Virgin Mary stood then glanced over at the praying parishioners then back up to the statue as Darren began to sing,

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN HEAR ME
OR IF YOU'RE EVEN THERE
I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WOULD LISTEN
TO A GYPSY'S PRAYER

YES I KNOW WE'RE JUST THE OUTCASTS
AND I SHOULDN'T SPEAK TO YOU
STILL I SEE YOUR FACE AND WONDER
WERE YOU ONCE AN OUTCAST TOO?

Meanwhile up in the bell tower Nyreena was huddled up on a rafter beam her sorrow and anguish haunting her to the core of what happened. Then all of a sudden the sound of a man's singing drifted up through the air and caught her attention. Just the mere sound of it made her look up and forget your sadness and focus on the handsome sound being made. Walking away from the statue and through the rows of candelabras with his friends by his side Darren continued to sing, during which the bell ringer came down to a balcony to see who was singing and found that it was her guide with his two friendss watching them walk in the opposite direction from the parishioners that were walking by that sang as well, asking for things then one woman with the others asking for the same thing,

GOD HELP THE OUTCASTS
HUNGRY FROM BIRTH
SHOW THEM THE MERCY THEY DON'T FIND ON EARTH

GOD HELP THE OUTCASTS
WE LOOK TO YOU STILL
GOD HELP THE OUTCASTS OR NOBODY WILL

I ASK FOR WEALTH
I ASK FOR FAME
I ASK FOR GLORY TO SHINE ON MY NAME
I ASK FOR LOVE I CAN POSSESS
I ASK FOR GOD AND HIS ANGELS TO BLESS ME

Taking up the lead again Darren's voice rang out while Nyreena had snuck down to the ground floor making sure nobodyt could see her before she moved to a pillar and hid there. Peeking out from behind it she watched as the trio walked over to the Rose Window standing in its glow as the sunset shined through and the warrior finished the song,

I ASK FOR NOTHING
WE CAN GET BY
BUT I KNOW SO MANY LESS LUCKY THAN I
PLEASE HELP OUR PEOPLE
THE POOR AND DOWNTROD
I THOUGHT WE ALL WERE THE CHILDREN OF GOD

GOD HELP THE OUTCASTS, CHILDREN OF GOD

During the last line Nyreena came out from behind the pillar and leaned up against it watching them with great curiosity as the song and the three hugged each other knowing that things were going to be okay. Feeling a strange yet comforting warmth begin to fill her it made her feel a lot better. Quietly smiling and smiling a little it disappeared very quickly when a man noticed her there and called out, scaring her, "You, bell ringer! What are you doing down here?"

Completely surprised by the voice Nyreena quickly backed up and right into a candelabra knocking it over. Hearing the ruckus the trio broke apart and focused their attention on what was happening surprised themselves that the bell ringer was out of the bell tower. Not wanting to get into trouble again the ghostly woman ran back to the stairs while the noble continued to scold, "Haven't you caused enough trouble as there already is?"

Needing the chance to talk Darren tried to call out, "Wait!," but if fell on deaf ears. Having no choice but to follow the warrior went after her Sam and Tucker quickly bringing up the rear. Reaching the staircase Darren called up to Nyreena as she fled, "Please, I want to talk to you!," then followed her up leaving his friends in the dust a bit but the two managed to keep up on their own. Bursting outside the bell ringer ran across the catwalk while her friends watched the scene play out. Pointing the three gypsies out Spectra commented, "Look, she's brought a few friends with her."

"Hey, maybe today wasn't going to be a big bust after all," Technus suggested.

"And the one following her certainly is a handsome boy," Wulf added, winking at Spectra at the prospect.

Missing the cue altogether Technus pointed out, "The one in the black and silver garb ain't bad-looking either!"

The other two giving their comrade a are-you-serious look all three jumped down stopping Nyreena just as she entered to which Technus cried, "Nina!"

"Congratulations, my girl!," Wulf praised, not even noticing the girl's exasperated expression.

"Got the boys chasing you already, huh?," Technus joked, also missing her look of anxiety.

Trying to explain what was going on Nyreena spoke, "Well, actually I-"

"You can't run too fast or else he'll slip through your fingers!," Wulf advised while interrupting and grabbing her arm to slow her down.

"Well yes, ah, ah, ah, I know," the bell ringer agreed, hoping it would appease the wolf to let her go so she could run and hide. "That's why-"

And once again she was interrupted this time by Technus who suggested, "Ya give him some slack, then reel him in, then give him some slack, then reel him in, then give him some slack-"

"Knock it off, Technus," Spectra ordered, bonking him on the head at the same time. "He's a young man, not a mackeral!"

Thankful for the distraction Nyreena was just about to make another break for it when the trio entered, quickly causing the other three to freeze into their gargoyle forms, and Darren said relieved, "Here you are. I was afraid that we had lost you for a second."

Turning back to look at them Nyreena stuttered out, "Oh, yes well, um, I have a lot of chores to do so it was, uh, nice...seeing...you...again...ohhhh..."

Feeling like a failure the young woman quickly walked away prompting Sam to follow and call out, "No, wait!," with Darren going after the two. Meanwhile, Tucker was studying the gargoyles, Technus in particular. Suddenly he came to life for a few moments, made a taunting face at the boy, then returned to stone just as fast. Not believing what he just saw Tucker rubbed his eyes and looked again hoping that it was just his imagination. Climbing up the stairs after Nyreena Sam tried to apologize, "I'm really sorry for what happened to you this afternoon. If I had known that it was you under that hood, I would have never pulled...you...up on that...stage."

The two friends reaching the top they were both stunned as they stared at the different crafts that either hung or sat around the room. Wondering where they were the dancer asked, "What is this place?"

"This is where I lived all of my life," the bell ringer answered out from behind the support beam she was hiding behind.

"Did you make all of this?," Darren asked, watching Tucker bring up the rear with a bit of a stunned look on his face.

"Most of them, actually," Nyreena replied, coming out from her hiding place.

"It certainly is beautiful," Sam complimented. "If I could do something like this I wouldn't be out dancing in the streets for coins all day."

"But you're such a wonderful dancer," Nyreena pointed out to which Darren nodded in agreement.

"It does help keep bread on the table," the warrior added, quickly noticing a cloth covering something on the table. "What might this be?"

Seeing what he was going for the ghostly woman tried to stop him and pleaded, "Oh no, please don't look. I'm not finished-I still have to paint them..."

But it was too late as Darren pulled the cloth off the two wooden figures and recognized who they were. Surprised he said, "It's the blacksmith and the baker. And they look just like them. You really have a wonderful eye for detail."

Turning to look at Nyreena he added, "You are quite the interesting person, Nyreena. And not to mention very lucky. You have all this room to yourself."

"Well, it's not just me up here," the bell ringer pointed out. "There are the gargoyles, and the bells of course.

Hey, would you like to see them?"

"Sure!," Darren agreed. "Wouldn't we guys?"

With nods from the other two Nyreena smiled and directed, "Follow me. I'll introduce them to you all."

Everyone clombing up into the higher levels Nyreena quickly sprinted forward leaving the trio to stare in awe. Amazed by the number of bells Sam commented, "I never knew there were so many of them."

"Hey I'm surprised that she can man them all," Tucker said, wondering how strong the ghostly woman really was.

Catching their attention Nyreena introduced, "This is Little Sophia and," then hopped passed three identical ones and continued, "These are Jean Marie, Ann Marie, and Louise Marie. They're the triplets."

Walking towards a rather massive bell Darren asked, "And who might this be?"

Landing next to him Nyreena replied, "That's Big Marie."

Getting a crazy idea Darren stooped down and stepped inside the bell and cried a big "hello" that echoed throughout the metal, causing it to richly resonate the sound. Amazed by it the bell ringer joined him and commented, "She really likes you. Would you like to see some more?"

"Well, how about it you two?," the warrior asked his comrades who joined up under the bell.

Sam nodded in agreement while Tucker unexpedtedly gae a loud belch that resonated around the bell causing it to vibrate again. Chuckling Darren replied, "We'd love to."

"Good, because I've saved the best for last!," Nyreena explained while leading the way out to the roof.

Once the trio climbed outside their amazement shot through the roof as they observed a beautiful view of Galmateris and the Spiriteine River. Breathtaken at the scene Darren suggested, "I bet the king himself would not have a view like this. I really could stay up here forever."

Feeling a sudden lurch in her heart Nyreena prompted, "You could stay, you know."

"No, I couldn't do that," Darren turned down. "Especially to Sam and Tucker. We need to stay together."

"But you all have sanctuary," Nyreena pointed out hoisting herself up to sit on the railing. "You can stay together and still stay here."

"However, not our freedom," the warrior contradicted. "After all, gypsies don't do well inside stone walls."

"But you're not like other gypsies, though," Nyreena told him. "They're so...evil."

Getting a shocked look on her face Sam asked, "Who told you that horrible lie?"

Biting her lip a bit the bell ringer answered, "My master, Phantom told me. He's the one that raised me from when I was a baby."

"Is that why your necklace is gone?," Darren asked, having noticed earlier that she wasn't wearing it but didn't say anything until it was the right moment.

Not meeting his gaze Nyreena solemnly nodded in reply as the four sat down on a domed part of the roof while unknowingly touching the spot on her chest where the pendant had laid on her chest.

Unable to believe what he just heard Tucker prodded, "What the-? How could a cruel man such as him raise someone as gentle as you?"

"Cruel?!," Nyreena repeated, shocked by his question. "Oh no, not in the slightest! He's the one that saved my life and took me in when no one else would. Besides, I am a monster after all."

"He told you that?," Darren asked starting to get livid.

Feeling a are-you-serious look cross her face Nyreena pointed to the right side of her face and said, "Look at me. How else can you describe it?"

Seeing that she needed to be shown something to proe that she wasn't a monster Darren nudged Sam and pointed at her palm then at Nyreena's palm hoping she would get the clue. Taking a second to process it the dancer nodded in agreement and said, "Nyreena, give me your hand real quick."

"Huh? Why?," the bell ringer asked, getting a little nervous.

"Just trust me," Sam encouraged taking Nyreena's left hand and started tracing the lines on her palm. "Well, here's a definite long life line...oh, this one here means you're shy...hm, hm, hm, hm...well that's funny. Do you see any, Darren?"

"Nope, I don't think so," Darren answered, taking a look himself.

"Any what?," Nyreena prodded, wanting to know what was going on.

Taking the bell ringer's hand into his own Darren answered, "Monster lines. There's not a single one."

Pulling off one of his gloves and showing his palm he added, "Now take a look at me. Do you really think I'm evil? Or Sam, or Tucker?"

"No, no, no, not at all!," Nyreena answered. "All of you are kind, and caring, and good, and-"

"And we're gypsies," Darren finished. "So maybe Phantom's wrong about all of us."

Down below Spectre, Wulf, and Technus were trying to listen in on the conversation. Only being able to hear half of what was said at the end Technus whispered, "What did he say?"

"He said Phantom's nose is long and he wears a dress," Spectra whispered back while straining to hear more.

Grinning in glee Technus told Wulf, "Ha, I told you! Pay up!"

Groaning in defeat the wolf pulled a gold coin and passed it up to Technus who snatched it pocketed it just as quick. Back up on the roof Nyreena watch as Darren got up and leaned against the railing followed suit by Sam and Tucker and tried to think of a way to help them out. Quickly getting an idea she stood up and said to them, "You guys helped me out so now I will help you out."

All three turning to look at her Sam pointed out while pointing to the ground below, "But there's no way out. There's probably guards surrounding the entire cathedral by now."

"But we won't be using a door," Nyreena hinted with a mischievious smile playing at her lips.

"You mean...we're going to...climb down?," Tucker clarified while starting to get a bit terrified.

"Of course," Nyreena replied. "I carry you and Darren carries Sam. Simple as that."

Quickly hoisting Sam up onto his back Darren agreed, "Sounds like a plan to me. Don't worry, Tucker. You're going to be just fine."

Shakily nodding the mechanic slowly got onto the bell ringer's back who asked, "Ready?," to which all three said, "Yes," then Nyreena looked up at Tucker and encouraged, "Don't be afraid," to which he returned, "I am not afraid." Not believing hi for a second the bell ringer hopped right over and grabbed a gargoyle's head freaking Tucker out who admitted, "Okay, now I'm afraid."

"I think the trick for you is not to look down as much as possible," Nyreena advised while trying to adjust her grip.

Well, after being told not to look down Tucker did the complete opposite and glanced down at the ground and severly wished he didn't. Squeaking in fear he tightened his grip on Nyreena who had to contend with him until they reached the bottom. Waiting for Darren to follow the two teams started scaling down the side of the building. Unsure of the plan Sam called to Nyreena, "Have you done something like this before?"

"Uh, no. Not really," the bell ringer replied.

Reaching the edge the double duos quickly leaped off and soared through the air landing on the other side. Quickly scaling down they jumped down onto a slanted roof landing on a large roof tile. Quite surprised that the plan was working Sam complimented Nyreena, "Wow, you're a really good acrobat!"

"Thank you very-" the bell ringer began to say but her words were cut short when the tile they were sitting on suddenly broke loose.

Sliding down at an alrming rate they skidded off a jutting peak before continuing down an aquaduct, jumping off and grabbing onto the waterway as the tile zoomed through the air and crashing a few yards away. Hearing the noise the guards in the area quickly left their posts to investigate. Watching them leave the foursome dropped down to the bottom in front of a broken statue. Seeing another guard coming they posed as part of the piece and waited for the soldier to pass. Once he was gone they all relaxed and Nyreena wondered, "I hope that didn't scare you all."

"Not even for an instant!," Darren replied exhilarated.

Tucker, on the other hand, groaned as he slid down the statue his heart beginning to beat again. Helping him down and getting him to feel better Nyreena told them, "After all of this I know I'll never forget you three for a long time."

Suddenly getting an idea Sam blurted out, "Why don't you come with us?!"

Shocked at the proposal both Darren and Nyreena exclaimed, "What?!"

"Yeah! Come with us!," the dancer continued to invite. "To the Plaza of Revelations. Leave this place forever!"

"Oh, no, no," Nyreena denied with absolute assurance. "I am never going back out there ever again. You all saw what happened to me out there today. No, I'm afraid this is where I belong."

"Well then, I guess we will come to see you then," Darren suggested, hoping to compromise.

Giving her former guide a are-you-insane look Nyreena pointed out, "Wha-? Here? But with the soldiers everywhere, and Phantom, and-"

"We'll come after sunset," Tucker ease, glad that the ordeal with the heights were over with and agreeing with the plan being formed.

"But at sunset I ring the evening mass, after that I clean the koisters, then after that I ring the vespers, and-" Nyreena tried to tell them to which Darren quickly convinced her by kissing her on the cheek, making her feel like she was light as air and finished saying, "Whatever time is good for you three."

Taking a talisman out of his pocket and showing it to Nyreena Darren explained before giving it to her, "If ever you are in need of sanctuary this will show you where to go."

"But how?," the bell ringer inquired looking it over.

"Just remember this" the warrior answered taking her hands into his own. "When you wear this woven band you hold this great city in your hand."

Staring into his blazing green eyes for a second Nyreena bundled the talisman and slid it into one of her sleeves to keep it safe. Hearing footsteps coming Tucker warned, "Uh, we've got soldiers incoming!"

Figuring that it was time for them to go Nyreena advised, "Hurry and go before they turn the corner!"

Nodding and hopping down Darren motioned for Sam to follow his lead, catching her as she dropped and setting her upright on the ground. Repeating the process with Tucker the trio ran off through a short alleyway that lead to the river and disappeared out of sight. Smiling a warm smile knowing that her new friends were safe Nyreena got up and climed the side of the church back up to the bell tower to begin her evening duties.
