Hi, FanFiction Members! I'm HollowKU reporting himself for the next chapter of The Parallel Challenger! In the last chapter the clash between the two flying lizards took place. The Champion's Charizard had the upperhand during most of the battle, outstanding Ash's Charizard in strength and speed. However, the latter managed to pull out a big power boost thanks to an insane trick, and with a help from a wound his opponent had caused in the last battle, he managed to win the battle, but he lost all of his energy and fainted as well. Now the battle between the Pikachu is about to happen. Who will ultimately win? We'll see.

Oh, by the way, now that I think about it, it's been a year since I posted the first chapter of this fic. *sniffs* I didn't think I would be still writing this fic by now XD Well, it really brings good memories from the past year. Well, to commemorate the anniversary of The Parallel Challenger, I have an ANNOUNCEMENT!

*drums* TAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKA!

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm officially announcing The Parallel Series/Saga! A project of mine that will be divided in three parts: a trilogy! But guess what? It already began with this fic! Yep, The Parallel Challenger will be the first part of the trilogy! Try to guess what will happen within the second and third part! I won't say more. I will save that for the last chapter of this fic =)

Well, thanks all the people who have reviewed the last chapter, and all the people who have read the fic so far and are following this to the very end. I will give my very best to not disappoint you!

Now, to the fic!

Pokémon: The Parallel Challenger

Chapter 14: The Final Volt 1.0 – Freezing Silver

Both trainers looked at each other, feeling the pressure within the air. They knew it was going to be the last battle. Both of them were nervous, equally nervous. Ash then looked at his loyal partner, Pikachu, who nodded back at him, like telling him that he was ready for the clash. On the other side, Red looked at his Pokéball, which had a rough appearance, with scratches all over it and with some burnt places: the Pokéball of his first Pokémon.

"This will be the last match! Trainers, release your Pokémon!" Brock looked at both contestants.

"..." Red grabbed his Pokéball tightly and showed it to Ash. "I have to say that I'm really impressed. You are the second person that made me use all my Pokémon in a battle, with you still having one Pokémon left."

"I guess I should take that as a compliment?"

"My last Pokémon is, like yours, my first one. He was the one that Prof. Oak gave to me when I started my journey. You should know that, from all my Pokémon, he is the strongest."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"During my time at Mt. Silver, I used him as my first Pokémon to get rid of trainers who tried to challenge me at the top." Red continued. "But he never had the chance to fight a powerful trainer in a while. Blue was the only one who could actually push him to his limits, but now that he is stronger, his abilities may have become really powerful to challenge anyone into a serious battle."

"..."

"The reason I'm telling you this...is because I have a proposal for you." Red looked dead serious about this.

"Huh?" Everyone reacted this way by hearing what Red just said.

"I want to move our battle to another battlefield...of my choice."

"Why would you do that?"

"Our match was able to destroy half of the professor's place." Red then looked at him. "I believe that this battle will be even more destructive than the last one, so changing the arena wouldn't be a bad idea."

"Come to think of it...we really left this place burnt and messy with our last battle." Ash sweatdropped as he saw that he was too concentrated in battling that he didn't remember that it was destroying part of the ranch and the forest nearby. "Sorry, professor..."

"Don't worry. You'll clean after your battle, of course." The well-known researcher replied with a glare and an evil smile to the young trainer.

"Very well then. Follow me." Red turned his vision to a different direction, and started walking.

"Did you already decide where our battle was going to be?"

"I believe the answer is obvious, other me." Red turned his head, facing Ash once again. "The place we're heading is there."

The young Kanto Champion directed his finger to the north, pointing a place that was clearly visible even though they were far away from it. The mountain where the strongest Pokémon from Kanto and Johto inhabited. The place that held the Silver Conference. The place where the final battle between the two worlds would finally settle: Mt. Silver.

Inside Prof. Oak's lab...

"Wouldn't Red get the advantage?"

"I don't know. Ash is conscious that he was training at its top for years and yet he didn't mind."

"Maybe he is confident in the outcome."

"Ash may be cocky at times, but he knows about Red's strength. He wouldn't just accept his request without thinking it carefully."

After Red and Ash agreed to have the last battle in the famous mountain, Ash's friends decided to take some preventive measures, dressing with clothes fitting the environment so they could face the horrible cold of the mountain.

"That Ash...even though he knows we're going to Mt. Silver, he's going without changing his clothes..." May complained about his crush's decision while looking at the outside, where both counterparts were waiting for the others. "...he wants to face Red on the same conditions as he is..."

Outside the lab...

"I'm surprised that you didn't complain about my decision, other me."

The counterparts were sitting on a hill near the ranch. Red played with his Pokéball while waiting for the others to be ready. Ash's body started to shiver with the mere thought of going to Mt. Silver in his conditions, but he remained calm as his counterpart and his loyal partner Pikachu rested on his lap.

"It's not a big deal. I've been out in the cold in many adventures I had." The trainer replied. "Besides, if you can survive the cold of the mountain, I can do it too."

"Stubborn. Just like I was when I started being a trainer…"

"Ehh? Are you calling me immature?"

"Not at all. I just can't help but see that you remind me so much of the person I used to be..." Red barely smiled when saying this.

"Why are you saying this now?"

"I don't know...I just wanted to."

"Ok..." Ash was confused with the behavior of his champion counterpart. He felt that he was now more open and talkative compared to the first time they officially met.

"There is a specific reason I came to this world, other me." Red was now facing Ash. "I hope that you give your all in our last battle. I will tell you why, no matter what the outcome is."

"I'll win the battle. I'll show you." Ash showed his determination to the Kanto Champion once again.

"Don't get too cocky. We'll see." Red was also looking forward to the final confrontation between the two.

"WE'RE HERE!"

From Prof. Oak's lab, the others came out, wearing an additional pair of clothes to face the ferocious cold from the mountain.

"So, how are we going to go?"

"Teleporting." Red stood up and grabbed one of his Pokéballs, opening in a flash of light that became into a shape of a familiar Pokémon.

"Peon!"

"Espeon? But wasn't he knocked out during the battle with Krookodile?"

"I gave him one of this Max. Revive I'm always carrying with." Red bring his bag and showed to the others that he had at least more than 10 units of the precious and rare object.

"What? How you've got them? The Max. Revives are extremely rare objects!" Prof. Oak was once again surprised.

"I got a few during my journey, but most of them on my way to Mt. Silver and during my stay in there." Red pointed out. "I haven't used one of them until now, though."

"Well, that's not important. The reason Espeon is here is to teleport us to the top of Mt. Silver."

"Can he do that?"

"Of course. Psychic-types with enough training can do that without any problem. Another Pokémon like Alakazam can do the same due to his great psychic powers." Red explained as he put his hand on the head of his Pokémon. "Espeon, get us to Mt. Silver."

"Peeeeeeeeooooooon!"

"Oh, I forgot to mention something. I never had the opportunity to actually transport this number of people before, so I'm not sure if we will arrive as the whole group."

"WHAT? And you tell this now?"

"Don't worry...we'll eventually meet."

And, in a blink of an eye, the group of trainers disappeared from the sight of Pallet Town, leaving everything once again in peace...

At a certain point near Mt. Silver...

...

...*BOOM*

"AAAAAAAAAAH!"

*thud* "Ugh..."

A blunette with a boy with glasses appeared from out of nowhere in a hill covered with snow. They both landed on their foot, but still got some small hits after landing.

"My clothes are now wet!"

"Dawn, is that you?"

"Huh, Max? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but I think I'll have to buy a new pair of glasses when we return."

"Did we make it?"

"I think so...look at the-?"

"Wha-?"

Both companions were surprised to see a long rocky path, with fragments of ice all over it and it the end, the majestic mountain known as Mt. Silver was clearly visible and on its base, a few miles from where they were, the place known as Silver Town resided.

"We're at the base!"

"No way!" The Sinnoh coordinator was surprised to see that, but then realized something. "Wait a minute. Where are the others?"

"Come to think about it, I don't see them anywhere." Max looked all around the place, but got no sign of the other members. "Could it be that-?"

At one of the caves...

"So we got separated, huh?"

The former gym leader Brock found himself being joined by Misty as they both looked for their other companions in one of the dark caves of the mountain.

"It looks like it. Red told us he never did this before, so this was one of the most possible scenarios."

"Grrrr..."

During their search, they started hearing a noise coming from different parts of the cave. At first, they didn't pay it any attention. But the noise then started to be in almost every part of the cave and even more closer.

"Talking about scenarios...it looks like we're going to be in a difficult one right now!"

"Grrrr!"

From the deep shadows, a couple of Onix appeared, along with a very angry Tyranitar appeared, ready to unleash their attacks in any moment.

"Well, the exit is not so far away from here, so we only have to hold on and try to defeat this Pokémon."

"Steelix!/ Gyarados!"

The two released their Pokémon, ready to face the horde of Pokémon approaching to them.

"RAAAAWRRR!" The mighty Tyranitar started charging a Hyper Beam.

At Silver Town...

"So this is Silver Town, huh? Never got chance to actually visit here."

Tracey and Prof. Oak appeared together in the town located at the base of the mountain, and the place where the Silver Conference was held once in a year.

"Hmmm..."

"What is it Professor?"

"Something is bothering me." The Professor then looked at the top of the mountain they were supposed to arrive. "The balance of power and its focus should have been enough to make us arrive to almost near the top of the mountain."

"Come to think about it, the example Red gave us wasn't so accurate. Alakazam is one of the strongest Psychic types in the world, so is Espeon."

"Exactly. Like I said, we all would need to be near the top of the mountain at least." Prof. Oak started thinking about their situation. "Well, the only thing we can do know is contact someone of the group and see what's really going on."

"Yeah. Let's go to the Pokémon Center and contact Gary from there."

In the middle of the mountain...

"It's freeeeeezing around here!"

"We need to keep moving. Many dangerous Pokémon are around here."

Gary and May ended up together, and now tried to make their way to the top using a damaged path. From the whole group, they were the ones who were almost near the top of the mountain, the place where they would all supposedly meet.

"Something weird is going on. I think that Red has something to do with this."

"Huh? What are you ta-tal-talking about?" The brunette coordinator was being dominated by the cold climate.

"We should have landed on the top. I'm sure of it, and yet we ended up here, separated from the others. It just doesn't fit."

"Red told us that this could happen. Why are you w-wo-worring?"

"Because Red is not an ordinary trainer." Gary started explaining while climbing to a higher point. "You've seen him in battle. Just the strength of his Pokémon is beyond everything we've seen. Don't you think is somewhat weird that he could not teleport us there, even though he knows the entire area perfectly and has one of the strongest Psychics in his team?"

"Wait a minute." May ignored the cold and was now surprised with the researcher's reasoning. "Are you saying that... Red did this... on purpose?"

Finally, at the top...

"Looks like we made it, Pikachu."

"Pikapi..."

"It's freezing...brrr...well, I guess I'm really stubborn after all..."

"Wait a minute...where's everyone? Oi! Anyone there? Somebody answer me!"

"Pika pika!"

"You're the only one who's here, other me."

Ash realized that he and Pikachu had made it perfectly to the top thanks to Espeon, but noticed that no one besides him was with him. However, in one of his calls, a familiar voice called from behind him. It was the traveller from the other dimension, Red.

"What are you talking about, Red?"

"Your friends are not here at the top." He replied in his usual calm and serious way. "They were randomly teleported to certain points of Mt. Silver."

"What? I didn't think this could actually happen! We have to search for them-"

"Don't get me wrong. They were randomly teleported...because I wanted to."

"What?"

"Remember what I said about our battle being way too intense?" Red explained. "I mean it. What would happen if both of our Pokémon would clash in this place? With so many people here, something bad could happen."

"So you throw them to different parts of the mountain?"

"You could say that." Red replied. "I wanted to take precautions so they wouldn't be harmed in this final battle of us. But don't worry. We'll eventually meet them during the battle."

"What do you mean?"

"I said Mt. Silver was our final battle field right?" Red brought out his final Pokéball. "But I never said we would exclusively battle at the top."

"So that means..." Ash then realized the situation he had been put. "...the whole mountain will be our field?"

"Exactly." Red raised his Pokéball. "Come here...Pikachu."

The Pokéball opened, as a big yellow lighting came out of it, reaching the cloudy sky, and returned in between the two counterparts, making a big explosion in the ground. When the smoke dissipated, in the middle of it was Red's final Pokémon, sitting peacefully while seeing that he once again returned to the place he lived for years. However, unlike Red's other Pokémon, the electric mouse looked like a normal, cute and small Pikachu.

"Come to think of it...I never noticed that his Pikachu looked like this. When I first saw him, I thought it was a normal one, but now that I know Red and his Pokémon team, I'm actually surprised that his starter doesn't have any scars or healed wounds on his body..." Ash thought as he analyzed the counterpart of his loyal Pokémon.

"You're thinking he looks nothing like my other Pokémon, don't you? Well, it's normal." The counterpart read Ash like a book as he rubbed his Pokémon's cheeks. "Don't worry. That simple appearance he has is the same reason why he is my strongest Pokémon."

"..." Ash knew that already, so he knew that this would be the hardest battle of his life. "Pikachu, are you ready?"

"Pika pika!" His Pokémon happily replied.

"Ok, then, let's do this! The battle starts now!"

"Iron Tail."

As soon as Ash declared the beginning of the battle, his opponent immediately used his first moved and striked directly into his partner's belly, making him fly and collide to a frozen rock nearby.

"Pikachu! Are you alright?" He looked for his Pokémon, only to see him coming out of the dust fine and in good shape. "His Pikachu was too fast! I didn't even saw him use the attack. I need to focus or he will overpower me with his speed..."

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack and use the rocks nearby to get boost!"

"..."

Ash's Pikachu obeyed, and started to run really fast, gaining more speed due to his move. He jumped on the side of one rock, and started jumping between the rocks, gaining even a more efficient boost, approaching his opponent really fast. Red's Pikachu remained still, watching the movement of his counterpart as he approached at full speed.

*zoom*

Out of blue, when Ash's Pikachu was about to make contact with Red's, the latter used his tail to jump above him, evading easily the attack.

"What?"

"Iron Tail again."

The Pikachu from the Champion gave a quick turn and smashed his opponent with his hard tail, making him collide to the freezing floor and bounce because of the powerful hit.

"Pikachu! Get out of there!"

"Again."

Red's Pokémon gave another quick turn and smashed Ash's Pikachu's face, sending him flying to Ash's side of the battlefield, leaving him somewhat hurt.

"Pikachu..." Ash was astonished. Everything happened in a couple of seconds, and he didn't have time to react properly.

"Pika...pika..." The trainer's loyal partner got up and faced his opponent once more, without showing any traces of doubts in his resolve.

"Normal Pokémon would have been already defeated by those hits your Pikachu just received." Red remarked while his Pikachu released sparks from his cheeks. "That means I'll have to try more seriously."

"He's been just warming up...well, he hasn't seen Pikachu's full power!"

"Pikachu! We can do it! Time to push a little more! Go with another Quick Attack!"

"The same attack pattern..."

"Pikachu! Gain boost with the rocks nearby!"

Ash's Pikachu repeated the same trick he did before. By using Quick Attack, he gained speed and doubled it once more by jumping between the rocks, approaching to his opponent really fast.

"Pikachu, now use Thunderbolt to the ground!"

"Kamikaze attack?"

"Pika...CHUUUU!"

The Electric mouse used his trademark move right into the snowing ground, making a mass of fog, blinding the counterpart for a couple of seconds, enough to strike a powerful blow of Iron Tail right on his body, sending him flying not so far away.

"Direct hit, Pikachu!" Ash finally managed to make his Pokémon strike a move.

"Pikachu...now."

With those words being said, Ash looked to the battle field, only to see that Red's Pikachu was already a few centimeters from his partner, ready to strike.

"Thunderbolt."

A big lightning came from the cloudy sky, hitting Ash's Pikachu directly without having him any time to evade the attack. The lightning stroke with all force at half of Ash's battle field, making his Pokémon to fly away because of the powerful impact and, to his shock, Pikachu was thrown away from there, slowly falling from the top of Mt. Silver.

"PIKACHU!"

Without hesitating, Ash ran to the edge and threw himself to rescue his Pokémon from crashing into the hard ice, as the legend of the mountain observed everything in his usual calmed way.

However, the Champion knew...that this would not be the end.
