heads up at the end of this chapter!
Korra picked her phone up, gave it a look, and set it down again.
This was the thousandth time she had done so in the day.
The girl was waiting for a text from a specific person; namely, the person who had kissed her (without her permission, of course) in the middle of a school hallway with no explanation whatsoever.
Namely, Tahno.
She didn't know what to do about the whole situation- on one hand, Korra liked Tahno and his sassy remarks, his sarcastic tone. But on the other, the girl knew that Tahno was trouble (one could learn a lot about other people from working on class projects with the other girls of the grade) , and she didn't know where they stood. The fact that Tahno hadn't spoken to the blue-eyed girl since the kiss from a couple of days earlier didn't help, either.
And Korra didn't know whether she should talk to him first, either, given that she had no idea what to say.
"Every guy in this city is so fucking confusing," Korra muttered under her breath, tossing her phone into a desk drawer and deciding not to glance at it again.
"Mom, dad, I'm leaving!" Korra called as she headed out the door.
"Have fun!" Her mother's voice rang.
"Where's she going?" Korra heard her father ask her mom.
Desperate not to be stopped by her father (Who had a knack of overreacting slightly when it came to Korra's relations with boys), the senior quickly rushed out of the doorway and into her car, pulling out of the driveway just as the clock struck 6:30.
Korra didn't know exactly when she was supposed to show up at Mako's place- he hadn't given her a set date- but she was aiming for a 7 o'clock. The girl kept telling herself that it wasn't anything special; just dinner between friends. Hell, Bolin would probably be there to friendzone the entire thing anyway.
But, of course, that didn't stop Korra from checking her hair more than usual, or from wondering whether her outfit was too simple, or too boyish, or too fancy. She had mentally smacked herself a million times that day, telling herself that it was just Mako; but since this was their first official date, Korra couldn't help but be a little excited for it.
As she pulled up to his driveway, the girl nodded to herself once, getting out of the car quickly and stuffing her keys in her jean pocket.
"Korra!"
The blue-eyed girl smiled at her friend, giving Bolin a hug as she came inside.
"I have to admit, I didn't think you'd be here," she muttered jokingly, not trying to sound deflated at the fact that Mako and her weren't alone for the date.
"Me? Oh, no. I'm actually heading out right now, just thought I'd stick around to welcome you in," Bolin grinned, giving Korra a slight eyebrow wiggle.
The senior arched an eyebrow, confused.
Bolin cleared his throat, glancing around. "You know- if things with you and Mako get, um, heated, there are special…items in my bedroom drawer."
A blush crept it's way on Korra's cheeks. "…Are you implying-"
"Condoms, okay!" Bolin suddenly burst out. "Wow, Korra, who knew that private school education made you so naïve! There are condoms in my bedroom drawer."
"Bolin, I swear to god, if you say another word, I am gonna-"
Suddenly, Korra's sentence was cut short as Mako entered the entryway, dressed in his usual shirt and jeans. "Hey, Korra," he greeted with a smile. Then, he looked confused. "Why are you all red?"
"That's my cue to go," Bolin muttered, giving the two a smirk. "Have fun, guys!" The green-eyed basketball player yelled behind him as he left.
When Korra looked back at Mako, he seemed extremely puzzled. "Any idea what that was about?" he asked her.
The girl tried not to blush again as she shook her head, pretending instead to be as confused as he was.
"Wow, Mako- when you said 'chinese food', I didn't think you meant homecooked chinese food," Korra commented in awe, sitting down at the dinner table that Mako had walked her to.
The teenage boy shrugged as he set the napkins on the table. "Family cookbooks," Mako explained.
Korra stuffed a chopstick full of noodles in her mouth, and exclaimed in surprise. "This is amazing! How do you make this kind of stuff?"
Chuckling, the amber-eyed guy across from her shrugged again. "Glad you like it."
Korra grinned at him, her mouth still full of noodles, and she couldn't help but feel a tumble in her stomach when Mako smiled back.
After having dinner, the two had moved to the family room, where they were now seated as Korra flipped through Mako's old yearbooks.
Laughing again, Korra pointed to a familiar face in the yearbook. "You were a freshman when this was taken?"
Mako pouted. "It was four years ago, okay."
Korra poked him teasingly. "Aww, look how cute you were," She teased.
"Why do you enjoy making fun of me so much?" the girl heard Mako mutter from her right, but when she looked at him, he was smiling good-naturedly.
"Eh, loosen up, bub," the girl tossed back, punching Mako in the shoulder gently. She gave him a grin- and was decently surprised when Mako's hand suddenly moved to brush her bangs slightly out of her eyes.
For a moment, the two were quiet.
"I really like you," Korra suddenly found herself saying- and really, damn those amber eyes of Mako's, because she was captivated.
"I really like you, too," Mako said back. He glanced at her lips, and Korra knew what was coming- and this time, she wasn't in the mood to stop it.
Leaning forward a bit, the girl pressed her lips on Mako's; who, in turn, pushed Korra gently against the couch as he deepened the kiss. Slowly, his hands moved from her shoulders, to her waist; brushing up the sides of her body.
Moving on instinct, Korra smoothed her lips from Mako's own, to his jawline, to his neck, and the noises he was making encouraged her as she sucked lightly, feeling his grip on her waist tighten just a bit. Suddenly, his hands were moving more north, and-
"I'm home! Sorry I came early, guys, but Jarod's car broke down and-"
"Shit," Mako muttered quickly as he separated himself from Korra. The both of them tried arranged themselves normally on the couch as Bolin burst in.
Korra glared at her green-eyed friend. Bolin really had the worst timing in the world.
"But anyway, how was your dinner?" the junior continued, giving his friends a smile. "Oh, bro, any leftovers for me?" He added without waiting for an answer to his previous question.
Mako rolled his eyes, but gave his brother a slight smile nonetheless. "Saved some for you in the fridge," he replied.
But, of course, Bolin wasn't really listening. In fact, his eyes were latched on Mako's neck; and when Korra turned to see why, she automatically turned red.
"You know, you guys could have texted me if you were, um, busy."
"What are you talking about, Bo?" Mako's eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
Bolin suddenly gave a grin, and his eyes met Korra's. "Eh, nothing," he said. "Just remember, Korra- bedroom drawer! You guys should probably take the guestroom. It's the most private." And with a final eyebrow wiggle, Bolin dashed out of the room before Korra could kill him.
Turning around, Mako gave Korra puzzled look. The girl sighed.
"I gave you a hickey," she stated, biting her lip.
"What- Korra!"
"What! You were making noises, and I took that as encouragement, so-"
Mako's cheeks burned bright red as he struggled for words. "I- I was?"
The blue-eyed senior couldn't help but laugh at Mako's lost look. "I've got to get going either way," she stated as she got up from the couch. "My parents are probably waiting on me."
"Oh, okay." Mako got up too, brushing his hands over his jeans quickly before he followed Korra to the door.
"I had a great time tonight," Korra truthfully said as she stood in the doorway. "You really know how to put together a good meal," she added, giving Mako a teasing smirk.
He smiled back, running his hand through his hair. "Yeah, this was fun."
"See you on Monday?"
"See you then," Mako replied. His blush still wasn't gone from his cheeks.
And as she walked away, she heard Mako mutter something about how he was going to kill Bolin.
"So you two didn't have sex?!"
"Quiet, 'Sami!" Korra whisper-yelled to her friend at school that Monday. The two were seated in the library during their study hour, and frankly, Korra realized a bit too late that the library was not the best place to have girl-talk in.
"I'm sorry, it's just- when you two are in a room, it's like, hot."
Korra scrunched her face, confused.
"Like, sexual tension. Everywhere."
"Oh my god, Asami, shut up."
"Maybe that's why you two always fight? Because you both are too scared to make the first move, and-"
"I'm not scared of anything!"
"Then make a move," Asami dared, a glint in her eye.
Groaning in annoyance, Korra threw her head down. "Aren't you, like, supposed to be doing physics homework or something," she tossed to her raven-haired friend.
"Oh, yeah," The girl suddenly remembered, pulling out her notebook. "But don't think I've forgotten about your sex life just yet," she added mischievously.
Korra rolled her eyes, pulling out her own book.
"But what about that Iroh guy? Didn't you two have something a while ago?" The green-eyed girl said, putting down her notebook yet again.
Korra sighed. "Yeah, but he has a girlfriend now. Which is great, because she's great, and…yeah." She gave Asami a deflated look. "Iroh and I are just growing apart, to be honest."
"Aww, why?"
"I just never see him around anymore. Kind of losing touch, you know?"
Asami nodded understandingly. "It happens. But you never know- maybe you two will connect again soon."
"Hopefully," the basketball player replied, getting back to her work.
She missed having Iroh around in her life.
*HEADS UP: NEXT CHAPTER WILL BE THE LAST CHAPTER!* THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR READING THIS STORY :)
eh, this one was better than the last i think.
VOTING RULES RECAP!
Please vote for one person in particular!
It's not as much a 'vote' as it is a popular voice (no one gets 'voted off'- they can come back as love interests whenever they get votes.)
No negative votes will be counted (ex: 'I just don't want her to end up with Tahno!") you have to vote for a person in specifics.
You can vote a new person each chapter if you want. You can also vote for the same person each chapter. And of course, you have every right to vote for each chapter (that's kind of the idea :P). But you can only vote for one person per chapter!
Also, please make sure you vote under Chapter 11 if you want your vote to count for chapter 11! if you vote under the most recent chapter counting votes will be a lot easier :) Message me if you have any trouble with anything!
And please, please don't vote under 'guest'. Make an ff account or give yourself some sort of guest nickname if you can't/have trouble with it. I don't want one person to vote 3000 times under a guest account. It's not fair to the rest of us.
(Also, guys, don't slam other ships in your comments. Be respectful of everyone.)
Prominent love interests (you can vote outside of this if you want to) :
Mako
Iroh
Tahno
Asami
Bolin
***by voting outside, I mean voting for someone like Amon, Beifong, etc.
