Chapter Twenty Nine
On Monday morning, Bella woke alone, wrapped in the sheets of the bed that she now shared with Jake. He had told her before she'd fallen asleep that he was expected for patrol around midnight so she would see him in class rather than when she'd woken up, but still she was a bit disappointed that he was not beside her. She had figured out that without Jake around her there seemed to be a permanent chill in her bones.
Even after she showered, her body would not heat up. She dressed in a white sweater and a khaki pencil skirt with her nude heels and revelled in how sore her body was from the intense sex she had the day before. There was no denying that Jake was the most incredible lover that she had ever encountered. She was positive that she hadn't even imagined a man like him. He was so attentive to everything she needed. He read the signs of her body and gave her exactly what she needed to reach the height of ecstasy, and afterward he'd give her more.
She found herself excited to get back to her classroom and resume with her students. Her mood was incredible and she blamed the fantastic sex. As she grabbed her tote bag from the small kitchen she sighed and realized that she still had to go grocery shopping. Maybe she could do that today after school? Would she make dinner for Jake tonight? It was odd to her how comfortable she felt in living with him when only a few weeks ago she had been completely set against even the idea of having feelings for a student.
Then again, she was dealing with a supernatural power set upon them by Jake's ancestors and he was not a typical student… But to her it didn't seem all that weird and supernatural. It just felt like Jake and Bella.
Walking out of the small cottage she didn't bother to lock the front door, just as Jake had told her last night, and she got into her small Kia Rio. Singing quietly on her way to the school she found that her mood was still bright and bubbly as she walked towards the classroom.
She was half an hour early, as usual and she felt content finally being back at her desk. There was no denying that she loved this job, and she was so pleased that she had figured out how to balance her job while also keeping her relationship a secret.
However as she began to think about Jake and how she had become a part of the pack, her thoughts turned darker, remembering that her life was in danger, even if things were easier with Jake. She was under a serious threat and she thought back to the discussion she'd had with the Cullens only 48 hours prior.
They'd spoken about Edward's gifts. He could read minds, and manipulate the decisions of others. Not to mention he was completely out of control because the scent of her blood called more to him than any other human he'd ever come into contact with. The Cullens had made it clear that he would come for her… But the question was still when would that happen? For how long would her life remain in jeopardy, threatening the rest of the pack at the same time?
"Miss Swan?" a soft voice came from in front of her and Bella jumped in her seat, looking up into the face of Kim, Jared's imprint.
"Oh, hello Kim. How are you today?" she asked, trying to push away the dark thoughts clouding her mind. Kim gave her a serious look.
"Jared told me about the meeting you had with the Cullens, but he wouldn't say anything else. I have to know though, you don't think that they'll try and attack the pack will they?" she asked seriously in a quiet tone. Bella looked at her student and shook her head solemnly.
"They made it clear that they weren't after the pack. The threat is on my life, not anyone else's," Bella replied in a whisper. Kim nodded at her and then placed her hand on top of Bella's.
"So you know I'm here if you need anything. You're part of this family now, and we take care of each other," she stated firmly. Bella gave the young girl a small smile and a nod.
"Thank you, Kim, that means a lot to me," she replied. Kim nodded and turned around to walk to her seat. The minutes ticked on and the classroom filled up. When Jake walked into the room five minutes before the bell rang, Bella had to control herself to not get up and throw herself against him. As she stood and began writing on the board she could swear that she smelled his scent around her, not to mention she could feel the searing heat of his gaze on her body.
The bell finally rang and Bella jumped straight into a discussion about the book. Their test was coming up soon and Bella spent the entire class answering all of the student's questions. She'd controlled the shiver that ran up her body whenever Jake asked a question and made her voice stay steady as she answered it.
By the end of the class she was just relieved that she hadn't given any indication that she had a connection with Jake at all other than teacher and student.
When the bell finally did ring she had several students come up to her desk to ask for extra help, and she was slightly disappointed when she felt Jake's presence grow further away from her body. It was irrational of her to be upset at him for not saying goodbye or giving any indication that he was leaving, but then again, this entire imprinting deal wasn't exactly rational on its own.
And so for the rest of the day Bella busied herself with getting back into the swing of being back in her classroom. She felt so at ease while writing on the chalkboard and explaining things to her students. She couldn't imagine ever having another job that she loved so much.
During her lunch break she walked towards the teacher's lounge, humming slightly to herself contently. The day wasn't dragging on, but still she could not wait to get back to the cottage and be able to hold Jake once again.
As she walked down the quiet, empty hallway she walked past the bathrooms and decided to go inside. It was completely empty since everyone was at lunch, and she quickly relieved herself. When she walked out of her stall her eyes fell on a large figure across from her, and she jumped in her shoes before she realized that her mate was staring at her with dark eyes.
"Jake, what the hell are you doing, this is the girls bathroom!" Bella admonished him, her eyebrows puckering. He didn't say anything and she kept her eyes on his steadily darkening irises.
"Okay, funny joke trying to scare me… Shouldn't you be at lunch?" Bella wondered, chewing on her lip nervously now. Casually she walked towards the sinks and started to wash her hands. Jake moved slightly so that his body still faced hers. There was a tension in their bond as she looked him over. Still he hadn't said anything and she let out what she hoped sounded like a frustrated sigh.
"Alright, well I'm hungry, so I'm going to eat lunch," she said as she turned off the water and shook her hands to air dry them, not wanting to waste the paper towels. When she started towards the door Jake's hands reached out and stopped her. His heat seeping into her skin under her blouse. An involuntary shiver ran down her spine as she breathed out in relief of being in contact with him once again.
"Jake, this is inappropriate. Anyone could walk in and find us," Bella whispered as she felt Jake's heat envelop her while his arms curled around her back and his lips rested under her ear.
"I wouldn't let that happen. I'd hear them first, remember Bells? Just let me touch you, I miss you," Jake's whisper was a rough, vibrating growl against her throat and a small whimper came from her throat. Leaning her head back slightly in submission, her mate began to lick and kiss a path up the column of her throat and across her jaw.
"You taste so sweet, Bella. I missed you this morning. You smell the best just after you wake up. All covered in my scent, and so warm. Fuck, let me feel you baby," Jake's words came out in an almost desperate rasp. And while Bella wanted to refuse him and make him behave, the tingles that ran up her spine, and the rush of heat between her legs kept her cemented in his arms.
Jake's arms tightened around her and his lips found hers in a bruising, desperate kiss. His tongue invaded her mouth and stroked hers gently while his lips slanted heavily, deepening the kiss between them. One of his hands wrapped itself into her hair at the nape of her neck and she felt the other skim over her breast, tweaking the nipple hard before continuing down her stomach and up under her skirt.
The material bunched up on Bella's thigh's and Jake wasted absolutely no time in rubbing his fingers over her cotton covered center. Soft mewling noises erupted from Bella's mouth, and were quickly swallowed up by her mate's possessive kisses. The wetness that rushed out of her was quickly taken advantage of when Jake's fingers pulled aside her panties and rubbed her soft flesh. A strong moan left Bella's throat but Jake quickly shushed her.
"Be a good girl and stay quiet. I don't want anyone coming in here and seeing you naked and begging for me. You're mine, Bella," Jake growled quietly at her and all she could do was nod in agreement and his with pleasure when she felt his hot finger slide inside of her. The feeling of fulfillment was so teasing, being what she needed and yet not nearly enough.
"More," Bella whimpered as she shivered, leaning all of her weight into Jake's arms. His finger sped up the slick movement against her inner walls and he added another thick digit inside of her. Another moan clawed its way up her throat and she bit her lip to stifle it.
"That's it, good girl. Keep quiet and I'll let you cum all over my fingers," Jake hissed out between clenched teeth as his fingers curled slightly inside of her, hitting the most perfect spot inside of her. Bella's mouth popped open as her breathing became heavier, her hips thrusting against Jake's hand and his mouth breathing harsh breaths into her ear. She could feel the tightening feeling in her abdomen signalling the rapid approach of her orgasm. Standing in Jake's arms, feeling his fingers thrust in and out of her, she couldn't ever think of why she had even thought of denying him.
She had passed the point of coherent thoughts as her lips whispered the word please over and over again. Jake's fingers filled her repetitively and then as soon as his thumb met her swollen clit, it was only seconds until Bella's entire body seized with pleasure, shaking and rocking against her mate, trying to control the gasps of ecstasy that escaped her. Vaguely she heard Jake whispering to her and nuzzling his nose into her hair as she rode out her orgasm, slowly coming down and slumping against his body.
"What a good girl. So beautiful, Bells. So gorgeous," Jake whispered again as his fingers gently left her body and covered her once again with her panties. With his clean hand he held Bella's trembling body against his own burning one as she tried to regulate her breathing again.
"I can't believe we just did that," Bella managed to gasp when she finally relaxed and found her footing again. Jake didn't laugh at her, but she still saw his smirk when he moved to let her go. For a moment he paused by the door and then smiled at Bella.
"The coast is clear. I love you," he whispered to her and stepped towards her again, tilting her head up to lay a lingering, hot kiss on her soft lips. And then, like a ghost, he slipped out of the girls bathroom and she was left alone again.
Calming her heart, Bella looked into the mirror once again, fixing her hair to make it appear as though she hadn't just been fingered in the school's bathroom. With a blush coloring her face Bella took a deep breath and left the bathroom again, finally making it to the lunch room for her break.
At the end of the school day, Bella still had a skip in her step. It may or may not have had to do with the amazing orgasm Jake had given her in the middle of the day. The thought of what would've happened if they had gotten caught made her cringe, but she tried to push that thought into the back of her mind since it hadn't actually happened. As she left the nearly empty school and walked to her car she began to think about what she could do in order to occupy herself once she got home. She assumed that Jake would be on patrol after school since he had missed so many of his shifts due to the vampire warnings. When she finally pulled in front of the cottage and walked inside she set down her tote bag on the kitchen table and picked up the landline that was mounted on the wall, finding Emily's name on the small list of phone numbers scrawled next to the phone.
It rang a few times and then Bella heard Emily's cheery voice.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Emily, it's Bella. I was wondering if you wanted to come grocery shopping with me this afternoon? Jake has hardly anything at his house and I could use some female company," Bella said with a small laugh.
"Oh, I'm sorry Bella, I actually just put something in the oven for when the boys get off patrol. But Leah's here if you want her to go with you," she responded, sounding disappointed.
"That'd be nice. Do you still want me to pick anything up for you? You must be so busy cooking all the time for the pack! Let me know some of the stuff they like and I can always start making things for them. After all you're pregnant and I don't want you to be exhausted all the time!" Bella said as she seemed to realize Emily's situation while on the phone.
"That would be awesome. Maybe we should make a schedule," Emily laughed and Bella chuckled with her. It felt good to laugh, and not just with Jake. She enjoyed the fact that she had some female friends now.
"Alright, I'll make a list and send Leah over. She'll be there in about fifteen, is that okay?" Emily asked.
"That's perfect, I'll drop them off on my way back to the house!" Bella replied. They both said happy goodbyes and Bella hung up the phone, walking back through the small house and into the bedroom. Stripping off her skirt she pulled on a pair of plain blue jeans, keeping her white sweater on, and pulled off her heels to trade them for her pair of riding boots. She pulled her hair into a loose ponytail and then walked back to the kitchen.
She'd just gotten through making her list when she heard the door open.
"Ready to go?" Leah's voice asked as she walked into the tiny kitchen.
"Just about, I'm just going to leave a note for Jake and I'll be good," Bella replied as she ripped the top paper off the pad with her list on it and scrawled a note to her mate about her whereabouts.
She left it on the kitchen counter under the phone and then turned to face Leah.
"Alright, let's go," Bella said, grabbing her purse from the living room as they headed out the door.
"Is it okay if we take your car, I ran here," Leah said, almost a little ruefully.
"Of course! Emily gave you a list right?" Bella responded.
"Yeah," Leah handed over the piece of paper after they had gotten into the car. Bella looked it over and saw that it was just basic cooking ingredients, except in mass bulk.
"I can already tell that half of my paycheck is going to go towards groceries each month," Bella tried to joke although in the back of her mind she felt a bit worried of how she was going to manage the bills as well as everything else she had to pay for.
"I mean, eventually the pack is going to have to fend for themselves in the world…" Leah smirked back at her. Bella laughed lightly and started the car, driving towards the supermarket in Forks. It was quiet on the way to the market, but Bella didn't entirely mind. She liked that Leah wasn't so chatty and that they could just listen to the radio without feeling as though they had to say anything. When Bella pulled into a parking place she shivered a bit, remembering what had happened the last time she was here.
"Don't worry, they wouldn't dare come near you with me close by," Leah said quietly, almost reading Bella's mind. Bella nodded in agreement, although her stomach was still doing flips as she got out of the car and they both walked towards the store.
The longer they were inside, the more Bella felt as though she could breathe. Leah pushed the cart as they walked up and down the aisles, grabbing everything that they thought would be necessary. For the most part they were quiet while they walked through the store. Occasionally Leah would ask Bella about work, or Bella would ask how Leah was doing, and then they would continue on their way. It was an easy, relaxed kind of friendship that they were beginning to form.
Bella paid for the groceries and Leah helped to load up the small car.
When she pulled into Emily's driveway, she grabbed a few bags with Leah and brought them inside.
"Thank you so much, Bella! Now I won't have to make another trip this week!" Emily smiled at her as they walked into the kitchen.
"No problem, Emily. Are all of the boys out still?" Bella asked slowly, looking around the empty, quiet kitchen. She could smell food that was hidden in the heating stove.
"Yes, they'll probably be here in a half an hour for the patrol switch off. The boys who go on the patrol need energy and the boys who get off patrol need to regain the energy they spend in their wolf form. It's a vicious cycle," Emily chuckled, her hand rubbing a circle on her stomach.
"I can only imagine how you've dealt with it for so long, but seriously, we'll work out a schedule so that you don't have to work so hard all the time," Bella commented, pushing her hair back from her face and throwing Emily and understanding look.
"That'd be so nice, do you want to stick around until Jake shows up?" Emily asked and Bella hesitated.
"I should probably get back and unpack my groceries so I can start my own dinner, plus I have to do some grading, but thanks for the offer! I'll call you sometime this week and we'll get together though," Bella replied, and Emily nodded.
"Sounds good to me,"
"Alright, thanks for coming with me, Leah. I'll see you around?" Bella said to the tall, gorgeous girl. Leah nodded and gave her a small wave.
"I'll be around," she said in reply and with that Bella nodded and walked towards the front door. With a last call of goodbye she got back into her car and drove back to the cottage.
She began unpacking all of her groceries and soon enough the fridge and cabinets were almost filled. Bella sighed knowing that it would probably all be gone within a few days, but she ignored that and then pulled out some of the things she'd need for dinner. She decided on making chicken and steaming some green beans with mashed potatoes. In the corner of the kitchen there was a small radio that Bella turned on and searched for a calming station on it.
With the soft music playing in the background, Bella quickly fell into a comfortable rhythm, moving around the tiny kitchen and filling it with the smell of cooking food. She was unsure of how much time had passed when she checked on her cooking chicken in the oven and she felt a pair of large warm hands grip her hips from behind.
Bella gasped in surprise and then smiled when Jake's heat encompassed her body.
"Hey there stranger," Bella said with a grin as she looked over her shoulder and up at her tall mate. Jake smiled softly and leaned down to nuzzle into her hair.
"I missed you today," Jake whispered softly as he laid a kiss on her shoulder.
"Even after what happened in the girl's bathroom?" she asked, a blush staining her cheeks. Jake's rough chuckle made her roll her eyes but he wrapped his entire arms around her front, hugging her body.
"I always miss you when you aren't with me, Bells. No matter how many times I make you cum, or feel your skin, or smell your sweet scent, there's never going to be a time when I've had enough," he replied, his voice dark and promising. Bella shivered in his arms with the rush of desire that flooded her veins, and then just as quickly as he jumped into the mood, he jumped back out.
"So what are you making? It smells delicious," he commented with a sweet kiss to her cheek then moved away from her towards the fridge. Bella glanced at his naked back and the way his shorts hung low, suppressing the urge to just let dinner burn and demand he take her into the bedroom.
"Just some green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and chicken, nothing special really," Bella said as she shook her head gently trying to clear her thoughts.
"I like seeing you in my kitchen, Bells. Makes it feel like home," Jake said to her from the other side of the kitchen and Bella smiled as she started mixing the potatoes. The warm feeling that Jake's words had put into her body made her heart sing. The idea of having a home with Jake was something that made her undeniably happy.
"Well, I was wondering if we might be able to make some changes to this place if that's okay with you?" Bella asked, glancing over her shoulder at him.
"Like what?" he asked.
"Maybe paint the bathroom a new color, or take down this wall and counter right here so that the living room is more connected to the kitchen. If I'm going to be feeding the entire pack then we're going to need more space for them to sit," Bella commented already thinking about how they could improve the small cottage to make it better suited for them to live in.
"Yeah, I don't see why not, but let's worry about that later… All I want is for you to hurry up and finish that so I can get that sweet ass back to bed," Jake growled playfully and Bella yelped when his hand connected with her jean clad ass cheek. With her cheeks burning red and a thrill running down her spine, Bella couldn't help but agree with him.
So they're finally back in school and obviously Jake can't stay away from her! Although, it's not like she didn't enjoy it ;) and we see them getting used to living together... Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and if you'd like to you're welcome to leave your comments and thoughts. I love hearing from you all. Thanks for reading!
P.S. I've been kicking around the idea of starting another story, but just as a show of "hands" how many people would be inclined to read it? It would most likely end up being another Bella/Jake fic, but who knows! Alright, until next time my loves! ~W.
