Sorry it may be a bit shorter than usual, and that it took so long to update. I've moved out recently and moved in with some friends so I've had no time. I've also been at a small loss for inspiration. I have a general idea as to where this story is going but making events to fill in bits is taking a toll. Reviews and little ideas would be appreciated guys. Thank you for your patience. I will try to update my often.
"Mr. Gold!" Ruby ran at the two of them, causing them to stop.
"Ruby? How can I be of assistance?" Mr. Gold placed both his hands upon his cane.
"Have you seen Clara? She ran off down this way, I'm afraid she'll get herself into trouble" Ruby backed up as the dog at Mr. Gold's side barked at her, before nudging it's muzzle against her hand.
"Why sweetheart. You're touching her" Ruby looked at the pair rather confused before jolting back taking her hand off Arsealen.
"You... You can't be serious" Ruby spluttered
"Deadly so, dearie. Arsealen." Mr. Gold gave his thigh a swift pat before walking off the dog following suit. Ruby stood there a while simply watching the pair walk away. "You understand the world a lot easier now I suppose, having experienced it from a human point of view as well as your own." Mr. Gold glanced down at the dog that stuck obediently by his side at his pace. "I know you understand every single word I say now... You better believe insubordination will no longer be tolerated." Mr. Gold raised an eyebrow at the small complaining whine that echoed from the Belgian shepherd at his side. "That's all well and good Arsealen, but I need you to get to work. Soon I will return magic to this land which means that collar becomes very important again, you remember what it does correct? Stay within range and you won't age. I take it you remember how to teleport, change size and charge barks?" Arsealen gave a dull whine as if she were a child being lectured. "Alright, alright, just making sure..." Mr. Gold paused in his tracks turning to the dog. "Go to the hospital and pull the plug on Henry's machines. They need to feel true emotion if this is to work. Return to the shop immediately after understood" Arsealen gave a small snort before padding off in the direction of the hospital. "Change forms as you please, yet do it secretly... People here are not who they once were, and Arsealen!" The dog stopped in it's tracks turning to face him. "I would appreciate it if you attempted to remain in your canine form in my presence unless specified otherwise. Go" Arsealen set off into a run towards the hospital, ducking into one of the many back alleys, she gave a shout of effort as she ripped her form back into that of a woman. Arsealen placed her hands on her knee's panting roughly, a thick black fur like dress clung to her body as she began walking towards the hospital. Hopefully when magic had been restored, the transformation wouldn't be so harsh on her.
"Clara!" Arsealen huffed at the name turning to face Ruby.
"Ruby? How can I be of assistance?" Ruby took a step back.
"You... You really were the dog weren't you?" Arsealen gave a small nod.
"You know my true name Ruby, do use it... You'll know who I am soon." Ruby backed up allowing Arsealen to stride passed her, watching her in dismay as she went. Arsealen lingered outside the hospital a while before making her way in, choosing to follow the woman she recognised as snow white, or in this world. Mary-Margaret. "Excuse me?" Arsealen spoke softly
"Yes?" Mary-Margaret turned to face her
"Sorry, you don't know me, my name's Clara, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for my friend Henry, I was told he was admitted here earlier today" Mary-Margaret was silent a moment.
"Clara... The girl from the woods? Yes Henry talked a bit about you, apparently you're Arsealen right? The grimm?" Mary-Margaret gave a small smile chuckling
"Yeah, that's right" Arsealen gave her own faked smile, gently pressing a hand against the back of her head.
"Follow me. I'm heading to his room now" Mary-Margaret gave another small smile before leading the way towards Henry's room. The pair nudged passed nurses and doctors a like before Arsealen's arm was caught by one of the male nurses.
"wha- What're you-" Arsealen blinked looking to the man that grabbed her.
"I know you know who I am.. You have about 5 minutes before I release Belle, dog" Arsealen stared at the nurse harshly
"Hatter..." Jefferson nodded looking around before leaning in.
"I don't care what you've been told, or what your job is. Look after Belle once I let her go, Regina can't get her do you hear me?" Jefferson focused strongly upon her.
"I'll be pulling the plugs on Henry soon. When everyone's in a flurry release her, wait till Regina rushes passed the door" Jefferson nodded before shoving Arsealen back out into the hallway of the hospital.
"Hey, there you are what happened?" Mary-Margaret had a confused expression on her face.
"Sorry, I was bumped off course by one of the nurses, wasn't looking where I was going." Mary-Margaret gave a knowing smile.
"I'm sure they didn't mean it, come on. He's through here." The pair pushed through into the intensive care room looking down on Henry.
"poor thing..." Arsealen took a seat by the young one as Mary-Margaret lingered around her.
"He looks peaceful doesn't he..." Mary-Margaret placed a hand on Arsealen's shoulder.
"How did this happen?" Arsealen shook her head looking up to Mary-Margaret who shrugged her shoulders gently.
"Emma said he bit something, an apple turn over or something" Arsealen was hit with understanding. The she-devil always enjoyed her apples...
"Hey... I don't know about you but I plan to be here a while.." Arsealen looked from Mary-Margaret to Henry, catching her small smile from the corner of her eye.
"Then why don't I get us some coffee?" Arsealen gave a small nod and a smile.
"Thank you Mary-Margaret." The pair shared another moment of smiles before Mary-Margaret walked away from them. Arsealen glanced around quickly noting the positions of every person before she rushed around the bed, taking note of the cords on the machines, pulling them out the back carefully as to only loosen them, leaving them looking un-tampered. She rushed to the end of the bed as the alarms went off and room slowly filled with nurses and doctors. "What's happening?!" Arsealen was dragged away as Mary-Margaret entered, only to be shoved out, the alarms blaring.
"What's? Henry!" The nurses pushed them back. Arsealen lingered a moment before stalking off towards the door where Jefferson had dragged her earlier, light rapping her knuckle against the door. Arsealen ducked into the nearest bathroom, giving a small moan of effort as she dropped her form back into that of a dog. She sat in the hallway waiting as Emma and Regina rushed passed them. Regina skidding to a halt when she saw Arsealen sitting there.
"Now Regina!" Emma's call shook her from her trance as she continued forwards to Henry's room. Arsealen padded towards the door as Jefferson opened it stopping the woman before he let her out.
"Follow the dog..." He said rather roughly to her before shoving her forward. Belle stood there a moment unsure as what to do with herself before Arsealen gently pushed her muzzle into her hand.
"Hey there doggy... You'll take me to Mr. Gold wont you?.." Arsealen took a few steps forward before looking over her shoulder to Belle who took this as a sign to follow. Arsealen padded through the streets Belle hot on her heels. Arsealen jumped up against the shop door and sat by it holding it open.
"Arsealen. Well done." Mr. Gold pulled the vial of true love from it's safety of the golden egg.
"Uhm, are you Mr. Gold?" Belle walked nervously into the shop as Arsealen let the door close. Mr. Gold looked up in surprise when a voice greeted him.
"I am but I'm afraid the shop's closed..." He lost the rest of his sentence as he laid eyes upon his Belle, his gaze flickering down to see Arsealen at her side.
"I was, uh… I was told to… To find you, to follow the dog and… Tell you that Regina locked me up. Does… Does that mean anything to you?" Belle shifted her weight nervously as Mr. Gold approached her.
"You're real. You're alive. She did this to you?" Mr. Gold struggled with the sight of her before him. "You found her pup?" Arsealen gave a small bark.
"I was told you'd protect me..." Belle's eyes flickered about his person
"Oh, yes. Yes, I'll protect you." Mr. Gold drew Belle into a tight hug.
"Um, I'm sorry. Do… Do I know you?" Belle backed up from the embrace wary of him.
"No. But you will." Mr. Gold took her hand. "Come on. Pup! Follow along" Mr. Gold opened the door leading the two away and into the woods. Arsealen followed along diligently from behind, being sure they weren't followed, or tracked.
"Wait." Belle paused in her tracks.
"No, no, we're very close." Belle tugged Mr. Gold's hand gently causing him to stop
"Rumpelstiltskin, wait. I-I remember. I… I love you." Mr. Gold moved forward hugging her tightly. Arsealen giving a small bark. "Yes, I love you too Arsealen" Belle gave a small chuckle as the large black dog gave a small whine.
"Yes. Yes, and I love you, too. But, hey… There'll be time for that. There'll be time for everything. But first… There's something I must do." the trip reached the edge of the forest where a small well stood.
"What is this?" Belle inquired.
"This is a very special place, Belle. The waters that run below are said to have the power to return that which one has lost" Taking the vial of true love from his jack, he flipped off the cap pouring the substance into the well below as a thick, bursting, roaming cloud of purple crawled out of the well and smothered the area, blanketing and rushing through out the town.
"Wha-... What was that?" Belle gripped onto Mr. Gold tightly.
"That... Was magic." Mr. Gold gave a small, smug, smirk.
