A/N: Here it is everyone! Chapter 5! I know it's been a long wait and I'm extremely sorry, I've been sooooo busy. Anyways, news update for my life: My stories will be placed on temporary hiatus due to boot camp sometime in the next few months. I will be back, I promise! Now I'm rambling, just please enjoy the story.
Only a few weeks had passed since North's party but things have seemed to have returned to the chaotic lifestyle that the guardians called normal. Even Jack found himself busier than he usually was, especially since he was now an official guardian. Because of this new job Jack found himself embarking on extensive travels throughout the world, most of which he spent alone. It was one of these trips that Jack now found himself on.
The wind howled eerily as it whipped through the all but empty streets of Paris bringing with it the promise of snow. The air was cold, so cold in fact that it bit at any unlucky traveler's bare skin. The cold seemed not to bother a certain silver haired teen as he tiptoed along the frozen sidewalk in his bare feet. Despite the boy's serious lack of attire, no one seemed to notice him as he walked through the slowly growing piles of snow. Suddenly the teen grinned and broke out into a sprint down the scarcely populated street.
"Let's go wind", Jack yelled throwing himself into the air. For a second the teen felt himself falling, and then with a sudden rush of wind he was yanked away from the ground and thrown high in the air.
"That's what I'm talking about", the silver haired teen bellowed as the frigid winter wind whipped past blowing him higher and higher into the gray skies.
Finally the gray haired teen landed safely on a building's concrete ledge high above the snow covered streets below. He flashed a happy grin before tiptoeing across the thin ledge held him back from the streets far below.
"Bring down the snow", Jack yelled suddenly throwing his arms open wide as if welcoming the gray skies back like one would greet an old friend.
As if on cue a large snowflake drifted by, it was soon by joined by hundreds of others filling the gray skies. Suddenly Jack sighed and sat down on the roof sending snow flying in all directions.
"Why is this so hard?" Jack asked staring down at his pale hands in a obviously depressed state. He sighed and shook his head in disbelief, for some reason he couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness that settled over him like a shroud.
After a minute of silence Jack finally groaned and pushed himself up from the ledge before the frost settled over him. The silver haired guardian sighed once again before stepping off the ledge that dropped off into the street. Jack had only fallen a few feet before the wind snatched him up and sent him flying high into the sky.
Hours Later...
Jack Frost landed gracefully on a frozen sidewalk, his pale feet sinking deep into a snowdrift. A sad smile flitted across his face as he quickly started across the road at a quick trot, all around him were the sights and sounds of life, a life he was invisible to. This thought had always driven him insane, until he had met his first believer, the first person who could see him. Now he had that light taken away from him, that one person who seemed to brighten his very world.
Suddenly the silver haired guardian grunted in a mixture of surprise and pain when he banged his head against a low lying stop sign. Jack frowned and rubbed at the now sore spot on his forehead.
"Something else bad to add to the list", Jack thought as he quickly walked away from the stop sign nursing his sore head.
Many, Many Miles Away…
Tooth sighed as her many fairies flitted past going about their everyday jobs. She had long grown bored of the long hours she had to spend sorting documents and planning flight routes for her many workers. For the past few weeks Tooth had been so busy that she had barely anytime to herself, despite that she couldn't push Jack out of her mind.
A cheerful ringing sound filled the Fairy's ears as a Little Tooth flitted about trying to get her master's attention. Finally Tooth nodded as the smaller fairy chimed into her ear in a language that only they could seem to understand.
"You want me to take a vacation?!" Tooth exclaimed in shock of what her close friend had just demanded. Little Tooth nodded and gave an approving chime showing Tooth that she meant what she had said.
Normally Toothianna would have protested the fairy's commands, but at the current moment she felt restless and yearning for an escape from her never-ending work. The thought of a break brought a breath of fresh air back into her life. Despite going against everything that she had ever believed in, Tooth was going to take her first vacation in the thousands of years that she'd been alive.
Somewhere In Western Europe…
"Il neige, mère", a young girl yelled pointing up at the gray sky high above her. This brought a small smile to a silver haired teen's face who was sitting on a nearby bench. He watched as the young girl was shepherd away by a tall brown haired woman who quickly ushered her back into the entrance of a large apartment building.
"Cute kid", Jack whispered as he absentmindedly caught a snowflake in his pale outstretched hand. Instead of melting, the piece of snow slowly grew larger until he eventually released it and let it drift away in the frigid winter breeze.
The winter spirit remained seated on his bench despite the people rushing around, almost desperate to escape the winter wind that tore through the usually quiet streets. He sat in silence staring up at the gray skies as snow gently drifted down and settled in small piles. Suddenly, a flash of green caught Jack's prying blue eyes and he glanced over at the source.
A wide smile stretched across Jack's face as he caught the sight of another flash of green, this one bigger than the last.
"Tooth", the silver haired teen whispered standing up from his seat on the frost covered bench, seconds later the wind whipped around him.
Meanwhile Not Far Away…
Toothiana's multicolored wings beat strongly propelling her at insane speeds across the snow covered landscapes of rural France. She grinned and flitted down to land gracefully on a snow topped roof.
"Maybe a vacation is good for me every now and then", Tooth mused as she stretched out her sore muscles, it had been awhile since she had flown so far. To her surprise Tooth found that frost had formed on her multi-coloured wings from the long flight.
"Looks like Jack came through here", Toothiana thought out loud as she fluttered down from her perch. She landed gracefully, her feathered feet barely disturbing the thin blanket of snow below.
"Who said I left", Jack's voice called out in a cheerful tone. Tooth spun around to find herself staring into Jack' smiling face.
Hours Later…
Toothiana smiled broadly as she watched the snow drift from the sky far above. Beside her Jack chuckled and tapped his staff against the ground sending tendrils of frost creeping across the ground in an intricate pattern.
"That's beautiful", Tooth whispered as the frost steadily crept across the frigid ground. All around them the world seemed too had frozen under the steadily growing blanket of white.
"I guess it is", Jack said agreeing with Tooth's statement; although he had never truly taken time to notice. Come to think of it Jack didn't really take time to do anything but travel; in fact his life had slowly become all about work since Jamie died.
"You okay?" Tooth asked placing a feathered hand over Jack's pale one. This motion surprised the young Guardian who was deep in thought.
"Y-yeah", Jack stammered despite trying to sound confident. Tooth's face showed that she wasn't convinced by her fellow Guardian.
"We all miss you Jack, the old you", she whispered taking the winter spirit's hand and squeezed it tightly. Jack glanced over and stared into Tooth's eyes with his striking blue orbs.
"I-I know", Jack sighed before quickly diverting his eyes from his companion's. A silence fell over the pair as both contemplated their next move, Finally Tooth had enough.
Without saying a word she gently placed a hand under Jack's chin and gently pulled his lips to hers. Jack's blue eyes widened at the sudden embrace, but they quickly slid closed as he melted into Tooth's embrace.
Breaking the kiss, Toothiana wrapped her feathered arms around Jack and pulled his head to her chest. When the winter spirit tried to protest she placed a delicate finger on his pale lips.
"No words, just sit here with me", Tooth whispered lovingly running her hand through Jack's silver hair. The fairy's touch seemed to melt the winter spirit and he soon found himself drifting off to sleep nestled comfortably in Tooth's embrace.
