Stef POV
"She was talking in her sleep and when I went to wake her up she was sweating." Mariana explains to Lena and I. "I think she's having a nightmare so I went and got you guys."
"Liam! Stop it! Stop please." Callie pleads in her sleep. I go and sit on Callie's bed trying to wake her up. I notice that she's covered in sweat, shaking, and is shivering. I get lost in my thoughts until Callie's shriek brings me back to reality, and I try to wake her up.
"Callie. It's okay sweetie. It's just a nightmare don't worry." I say shaking her lightly as though not to startle her.
"Don't hurt me, please. I'm sorry." She mumbles. Tears are now streaming down her face. She's in some sort of pain as discomfort is written all over her face.
"Lena, please take the kids out of the room." Noticing we have a full audience standing in the doorway. I hear her usher them out, but one of them are arguing, and I know who it is.
"Jude go with Lena please. I promise Callie is going to be okay." I promise him looking him in the eye. " She's safe, don't worry." He obeys my words, and heads out the room with Lena behind him.
"Lena stay within earshot, honey. Just incase I need some help or something." She nods and exits the room.
Now all my attention is toward Callie. She is still mumbling, tossing, and turning in her bed. That's when I notice the death grip she has on her bed sheets.
"Callie open your eyes. It's Stef. You're safe my love." I keep repeating those words hoping she'll awaken.
"Get away. I don't want to do it." Callie says griping the bed sheets tighter. I put my hand on top of hers, which makes her tense up. "Liam, I'm not ready." Her words leaving me to jump to questions and conclusions.
I shake her harder this time hoping she will finally wake up from this nightmare. I keep repeating comforting words until she finally wakes up.
"NO!" She screams as she shoots up from her."
"It's okay Callie. You're safe here and no one can hurt you know." I reassured her as I scooted up more, and closer to her so now I'm holding her. Hip to hip, I wrap my right arm around her and lean our backs against the wall. She starts to cry even more as I comforted her in my arms.
"It's okay, my love. I've got you." I whisper to her stroking her hair back from her face. I touch her forehead, and something alarms me.
"Shit." I whisper.
Callie POV
I can hear Stef trying to comfort me, but all I can think of was the graphic memories from my nightmare as Liam tried to hurt me.
"Lena, I need you." Stef says in a stern voice. Something's wrong. I hear Lena come into the room in a heartbeat. "May you get me the thermometer?"
Lena comes back a few moments later with it. "What's wrong Stef?" I can her the panic in her voice.
"She's burning up."
Lena makes her way to us and takes a sit on my left before inserting the thermometer into my mouth. I notice her face looks tired and upset. I realize I'm still crying as she wipes the tears coming down my face and touches my forehead. She flinches as though she was just burned, and a glimpse of worry appears on her face. The thermometer beep, and Lena takes it out of my mouth. I she looked worried before she's now scared.
"Stef, it's 103.1," I can hear the fear in her voice.
"Shit." Stef repeats under her breath.
"She needs to got to the ER." Lena tells Stef.
I start to freak out without knowing the words that were about to escape my mouth.
Stef POV
"No, no doctors." Callie's body tenses as the words left Lena's mouth. "No hospitals or doctors." She whips her head side to side.
"Callie, your fever is really high…" Lena tries to explain to Callie.
"Trust," I thought.
"Why can't you just give me fever reducers?" Callie says as she tries to make up excuses not to go. I decide to put my plan in her trusting me into affect.
General POV
"I have to agree with Callie, love." Stef speaks up.
"Stef, you know as much as I do how dangerous this is." Lena says taken aback my Stef's opinion.
"Yes, I do Lena!" Stef turns to Callie so they are now facing each other eye to eye. "Callie, if the fever reducer doesn't work we have to take you to the ER. Am I clear?" Callie nods in understanding.
"Lena, let Mariana sleep with you tonight, and I'll keep an eye on Callie for the night."
Lena gives a skeptical look at Stef before saying, " Okay. Goodnight you two." She says as she gives Stef a kiss, and leaves the room.
"Callie, you okay?" Stef questions her knowing she has to bring up her nightmare sooner or later since it really scared Stef. She wanted to know who caused the pain her daughter was in in that dream.
"Callie?" Stef says again when Callie doesn't answer her. Finally coming out of her haze Callie says she's fine.
"No you aren't. Talk to me Callie. I'm here for you. Trust me." Callie starts to weigh her options, and decides to confess. Noticing Callie was going to open up Stef focused on the young girl in front of her even more. But as soon as Callie opened her mouth to speak they were interrupted.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I just came to drop off the fever reducer." Lena said knowing she walked in at a bad time. She gave a sympathic look to both of them before exiting the room. Stef cursed slightly at Lena's timing.
She turned to Callie, " What was your nightmare about?" Hoping the girl would re open up.
Callie's courage to tell Stef her story just got knocked out from underneath her, and Stef noticed as well. "I think I just hallucinated it in my sleep due to the fever. I don't remember it. I'm pretty tired. May I go back to sleep?"
Stef wanted to say no, but decided against it knowing she didn't want the girl to become uncomfortable.
"Take this," she hands Callie a water bottle and the medicine before going to shut off the lights, and going to Mariana's bed. "Goodnight, Callie."
"Goodnight." Callie says as she takes the meds and lays her head onto the pillow.
