Chapter 3
Meagan let out a string of curses. "Open up!" She banged on the wall of the Labyrinth. The door she had been staring at for five minutes had vanished and refused to return no matter how many times she hit it.
Behind her, Hoggle watched amused. He had just been released from his imprisonment and was glad to be causing problems again. Ever since Sarah had defeated the Goblin King, things had seemed grim, duller. Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus had been held in captivity. It wasn't until years after Sarah passed away that Jareth finally released them. Searching the worlds for another young victim.
Hoggle didn't like her.
She was whiny and useless and not Sarah.
Hoggle snapped his fingers and the door reappeared. The girl squealed, jumped up and down and went to grasp the door handle.
Hoggle snapped his fingers again and her hand hit the wall of the Labyrinth. With a growl of frustration the human kicked the wall, resulting in a severely bruised toe.
This process repeated numerous times over the next hour. Hoggle didn't tire, but he could see the pathetic human was, which pleased him greatly. That'll teach her for not being Sarah.
Meagan sank to the ground, her annoyance simmering deep within her. With a resigned sigh, she pulled her phone from her pocket and hit redial.
"What?" Rae snapped.
Meagan could hear the goblins taunting and laughing in the background. "Looks like you're stuck here."
"I figured as much. What got you? Fell in the oublient? An infection from a Fairy bite? Raped by the Helping Hands?"
"Ha. Ha." Meagan said in monotone. "The door won't let me into the Labyrinth."
Meagan had been hoping that the terror of being trapped in the Labyrinth and the fear of being turned into a goblin would save her from Rae's mocking.
This did not happen.
For the next five minutes Meagan sat listening to Rae's peels of laughter, gasps for breath, and occasional snorts, knowing, no matter what, she would never hear the end of this.
"Are you finished?"
"Let me get this straight. You with the fanfiction and the posters and the t-shirts can't figure out how to enter the Labyrinth? You who said you would have been better than Sarah, is now stuck on the outside like an abused puppy?" The laughter resumed.
"Yes. Shut up! It's harder than it looks!"
"She was fifteen! You're eighteen, my goodness, open the fucking door!"
"There is no door to open!" Meagan screamed. Angrily she slammed her thumb down on the end button. She sat there in an angry huff, wondering what she could possibly do to get inside.
At that moment, Hoggle, snapped his fingers and watched in satisfaction as the human child tumbled backwards landing with an oompf inside the Labyrinth.
