When they landed in Florence they were busy as could be. May was working on the Bus, FitzSimmons was working on some new tech, Skye was hacking into the diner's security cameras, and Coulson was in his office.
Coulson found out about Skye being an 084 a few weeks before their mission. He hadn't told her though. He wanted to keep her safe but now, with Ward gone Skye was ready. True, she was emotionally weak, but she needed to know she was special. She needed to know her past. Sadly Coulson never got the chance to tell her.
"Coulson I found something!" Skye called out. Coulson hurried to her side. "The stowaway met with someone at the restaurant." She said pulling a file up on the screen, "Victor Romanoff, ex-KGB agent and psychologist kicked out for testing things that even the Russians viewed as terrible…" Coulson frowned
"What else do we know about him?" Coulson asked
"Not much, all I have is a warehouse address a bit outside Florence."
"May and I will go check it out with an assault team, you stay here." He said walking to find May.
Thirty minutes later the armored truck came to a stop in front of the large building and 12 armored men jumped out followed by agent May and Coulson. They beat down the door and were faced with a empty warehouse with a small TV sitting on a box in the center of the room. Coulson walked up to it and pressed the blinking play button. On the screen was Ward.
"What is your full name?" Victor asked
"Grant Alexander Ward," came the reply
"What is your affiliation with SHIELD?"
"I am a level seven agent."
"Do you work for SHIELD anymore?" Victor asked smugly
"No," muttered Ward
"And what is your mission?"
"To destroy the 084" Ward said anger radiating from his voice.
Coulson took a step back, they had brainwashed him. Suddenly the screen went black and a countdown appeared on the screen with thirty seconds.
May flung the T.V. to the ground and tore open the box revealing a bomb.
"Run!" she yelled as everyone made a mad dash to the door.
They all made it luckily but several agents were unconscious including May. Suddenly eight vans pulled up and armed men jumped out shooting at the assault team as Coulson jumped behind the truck hiding May underneath it. There was silence suddenly and Coulson was dragged to his feet to come face to face with Victor Romanoff.
"Hello Mr. Coulson," he said and Coulson was knocked out and shove in a van.
May woke up a hour later. She was the only one alive at the scene and Coulson was gone. She reached for a radio.
"Code 894. We need back up…"
