A/N: Here is the update! I wanted to post earlier but my girlfriend and I went to see Ride Along and That Awkward Moment, two amazingly funny movies!
Alright I am getting off track, onto the story!
Chapter Fifteen: Remembrance is the Key
Draco groaned and slowly opened his eyes. His head was killing him. Must've had too much Firewhiskey. He looked over at the clock; 9:24 AM.
"Shit!" Draco cursed. He quickly hopped out of bed and threw on his robes and then he grabbed his bag and headed out to the Common Room door.
He finally made it to charms after flying down about seven cases of moving stairs.
"Nice of you to finally show, Mr. Malfoy." Professor Flitwick said as Draco walked in.
Draco ignored him and looked around the room.
He spotted Hermione at the back of the room where they not always sat and he walked over to an empty seat beside her.
He pulled his charms book out of his bag and put it on the desk.
"Hey, Hermione?"
She pursed her lips and continued to copy down notes.
Draco figured that she didn't hear him, so he tried again, "Mia?"
"What?" She snapped her head finally turning to him.
Draco was taken aback by the sharpness in her voice.
"What page are we on?" He asked.
"Why don't you go and ask your girlfriend!"
"That's what I'm doing." He told her, furrowing his eyebrows confusedly.
Hermione scoffed and turned to listen to what Professor Flitwick was saying.
Draco just stared at her.
"Do you mind?" She asked.
"I was just-"
"I'm trying to pay attention, so will you shut it!" She whispered.
Draco sunk into his chair, trying to understand what just happened.
Hermione had ignored him the entire 40 minutes they were in class and pretty much the remainder of the day. She would have been able to ignored him the rest of the day, if it had been any other day. She couldn't ignore him because they had night patrol.
Yes, usually this job is done by Prefects, but two Prefects stubbornly refused to do it tonight due to unknown reasons. So Draco, desperately wanting to speak with Hermione, said they would do it.
They had been walking in silence for almost twenty minutes because every time Draco would try to talk Hermione would put a silencing spell over him, then she would lift it after a few minutes had passed.
Draco, who was getting a but annoyed with Hermione's childish antics ran up to her and grabbed her wand.
Hermione spun around quickly and glared at him. "What the hell, Malfoy!"
"Whoa, what's with the Malfoy all of a sudden?" He asked.
She rolled her eyes, "As if I would call you Draco after what you've done!"
Draco scratched the back of his neck nervously, "What exactly is it that I have done?"
"Please I know you remember yesterday!"
"I thought we had a good time yesterday and then when Sarah-"
Hermione's eyes started to glaze with tears.
"Is it like your time if the month? Is that why you're acting like this?" Draco asked.
She brushed and tear that had strayed down her face and snatched her wand away from him, storming off in the other direction.
"Hermione, where are you going? We haven't finished our rounds!"
"Far away from you!" She said not bothering to turn around.
"I know you are going to our dorm!"
She ignored him and continued to walk until she was out of his sight. Draco pinched the bridge of his nose. How am I attracted to this lady?, he wondered.
After a few minutes of questioning himself he headed in the the direction to the Heads Dorm.
He stood in front of the portrait to get inside, he was growing very impatient.
"Virtus!" He said the password once more.
Lani shook her head at him again.
"Damn it will you just tell Hermione to open the door!" Draco cursed.
Lani sighed, "Fine, but I don't think she will be that happy to see you she seemed very upset about something," she informed him. "Hermione, someone's at the door for you!"
"Who is it?" Draco barely heard her speak.
"Don't tell her it's me." He whispered so that only Lani could hear him.
Lani nodded and winked, "You'll have to see for yourself, Hermione!"
Draco could basically hear her rolling her eyes through the door.
The door finally opened.
"You changed the password!" He said turning to close the portrait door.
"Yes I did, because I don't want to talk to you!" Hermione answered turning back into the Common Room, towards her bedroom.
"Hermione," he called, as he turned around. She had reached her bedroom door.
She ignored him, and opened her door. Draco's heart was beating painfully fast by now and it was difficult to suppress the feeling. "Why are you angry?" he asked somewhat innocently, walking towards her.
Her back still turned to him, she walked into her room, closing the door in his face.
Give up now, a voice whispered in the back of his head. Draco knew that he should listen to it, but he didn't.
He knocked on her door.
"Hermione," he repeated, successfully keeping the concern out of his voice.
"Leave, Malfoy," she said, her voice sounding muffled through the door. It stung that she didn't sound hurt or sad. Draco didn't want her to be either of those things, but the fact that whatever he had done hadn't emotionally affected her confused him. Her anger – which he had grown used to – was something he had braced himself for.
Hermione wanted to break down in tears right there but she held it back she didn't want to sound weak, even though she was.
Eventually Draco have up on trying to coax Hermione out of her room and slid down, sitting in front of her door. He softly banged his head against the door.
Unwanted tears started to slide down Hermione's face, she grabbed her wand and put it up to her temple, pulling out the memory that she wished she could un-see and she put it in a small vial. She opened her bedroom door.
Draco immediately scurried to his feet.
"Here, since you say that you don't know what you did, why don't you take a look." She handed him the vial then closed her door.
Draco looked at her trying to hold himself back from brushing away the tears on her flushed cheeks. He grabbed the vial out of her hands and walked over to the couch.
Hermione closed her door against. She immediately put her hand over her heart and gasped when she saw Myrtle floating over her bed.
"Myrtle, what are you doing here?"
"Well if you remember, I am unable to leave Hogwarts because I, uh, haunted Olive Hornby." Myrtle answered.
"I meant what are you doing in my bedroom!"
Myrtle looked down. "At the moment I am floating."
Hermione glared at her, "Enough with the games, Myrtle, why are you here!"
"Well, I was going to tell you about Sarah, but I'm still mad at you and you want to have an attitude with me, so I won't!"
"Why are you mad at me?" Hermione asked, getting impatient.
"You talked badly about me at Nick's Death Day Party."
Hermione thought for a second, "You mean five years ago!"
Myrtle shrugged, "I can't say that I don't hold grudges."
"Myrtle, could you just tell me what you were going to say?"
"Fine. The other day I overheard Sarah talking to someone, I know I've heard the voice before, but I'm not positive on where." Myrtle thought before speaking again.
"Anyway, the voice told her to break up you and Draco. So, I followed her and I saw her brewing some potion, I believe it was the Kissing Concoction and since she made it herself it was even more powerful-"
"What are you saying?" Hermione interrupted.
"I thought you were supposed to be the smart one? What I mean is that who ever she gave that potion to didn't do what they did knowingly."
Hermione looked down letting her mind register everything that Myrtle had just said.
Draco ran his down his face. What had he done? No wonder she was cross with him.
He turned his head quickly when he heard her bedroom door open. He stood.
"Hermione, I-"
Hermione ran forward and placed her hands at the side of his head, pulling his lips to hers.
Once she pulled away she spoke, "It's alright. It wasn't your fault, it's Sarah's. She put you under a spell, you couldn't control anything you did."
"But I called you a-"
"You didn't say it, the spell did." Hermione reminded him, "I will be back in few minutes, okay?"
Draco furrowed his brows, "Where are you going? You aren't going to go find Sarah, are you?"
"No, Draco, no need to worry."
That's exactly what she was going to do. She and Sarah needed the have a little chat.
