Chapter 5

Holes

Locked doors left and right. There isnt a single door that is open able. The only thing that can be opened in this hospital is the elevator. The trio had no choice but to take the elevator to each floor. As they entered the elevator, James pressed the button for the next floor as the elevator was suppose to go up, it was descending to the basement. "Damn elevators" James said as they all suddenly got tense when sirens went off. "It dark already? Did we really took that much time at the school?" James said as the walls are peeling to rust. The elevator was sending them deep within the hospital. Everyone huddled close to each other away from the walls as the elevator just randomly stopped, a loud thud came from the ceiling which started everyone. Loud scratching was heard with heavy breathing. "Dont move or make a sound" James whispered to the duo. Peach felt extremely light headed from the tense as heavy growling heard from above, it started to move around then silence. It was dead silent for 20 minutes straight till the elevator started moving more downwards. The trio sighed from relief as the elevator doors opened.

They walked out the elevator looking around to see the hallway was full of bobble head nurses. "T-their the monsters I saw in my dreams" Peach said as her voice trembled. Peach hid behind Mario as James turned off his flashlight. "H-hey.. why did you turn off the flashlight?"

"These nurses act like moths. Their attracted by light. If we have our light scores off, they cant sense we're here." James said as he walked right passed the nurses as none of them noticed him. Mario and Peach followed. They traveled deeper into the undergrounds and avoided the majority of the nurses.

They soon eventually entered this one room that looks like a normal patient room with pictures on the table. Peach walked up to the bed where there was a pretty looking blue dress, a size for a child. Peach looked over to the table to see a picture of a young child, short black hair with beautiful dark brown eyes. She appear to be human as well. As they where distracted looking at whats in the room. "Who are you three? You guys arent suppose to be here" a voice behind them as they all quickly turn back. It was a woman, a Yoshi thats a nurse.

"You're a nurse arent you?" Peach asked as the woman nodded. "Mind if I ask you where you keep patient files"

"Those are classified files. Just who are you three?" The nurse said.

"Our apologies. Im James, These two are Peach and Mario. And you are?" James said.

"I'm Lisa... Lisa Garland" Lisa said.

"Mind if you tell us why there's a patient room in the basement?" James said as Lisa looked at everyone then sit down on the chair next to the bed.

"Very well. This room was Alessa's room" Lisa said as everyone was in shocked.

"A-Alessa? Hold on why was her room in the basement instead of the ones upstairs?" James asked

"This room was for special treatment. She was burned alive by the villagers. Some of us had souls and wanted to help her out. So we kept her save down here. Away from those who wanted her dead. Later on.. she died without setting out a curse to this town and burned this town down with everyone with it. Later on after that, she used her powers to make the town look normal. The fog stands for the curse of this place." Lisa said.

"If this town was burned with the citizens. How are you still here?" Mario asked as Lisa smirked.

Lisa stood up as her eyes started to bleed along with her mouth, she walked towards Mario and grinned. "I'm just a spirit trapped in this cursed world" Lisa said as she started to sob, then she faded. "If you really want those files. I suggest checking the third floor where the main office is at. You will find your answers there."

The room was silent as Peach stared into the picture of Alessa. "I feel pity for Lisa. Trapped here for eternity" Peach said.

"Not exactually for eternity. There is a way to uplift the curse and set Lisa and Alessa free. But no one knows how to do that" James said. "Reason is because everyone is too focused of leaving this hell"

"Well I did come here to find answers about my parents. So I have to agree with this and gather information then leave this town" Peach said as Mario hate to admit she's right about that statement but there's nothing that can be done for now, that and they dont know where Alessa is originally waiting. Peach notice there was a key where Lisa was sitting. Peach grabbed it hoping it'll be a key that'll help them get closer to the office. They headed back to the elevator and went upwards to the second floor. They battled more monsters and new monsters, some of them are avoidable and the others where focusing the princess instead of James and Mario.

"You're starting to become a demon magnet. This isnt good news" James said as he shot some monsters down. They ground a room that looked extremely familiar to the princess.

"Guys... I feel like I've been here before..." Peach said very worried as Deja vu struck her. "This was from my dream.." Peach said as the guys looked at her. "Guys follow me. I know exactually where to go" She ran off as the guys ran after her. Peach ran and ran until she ran into a hallway with the bar cage in the way.

"Hold on Peach. Dont go running ahead like that." Mario said as Peach looked at the key.

"This key will unlock this bar cage door. Trust me" Peach said as she looked at the ground at the other side of the cage was the bloody pink bunny toy. It was staring at them which made Peach really unsettled. She unlocked the door as she thought beyond this path was stairs going downward but instead it was going upward to the third floor. Without hesitation the princess ran ahead again with the guys just following. As Peach ran she heard that same metal scraping noise again. 'This time I wont let it get me' Peach thought to herself as she ran upstairs to see nothing was there. She looked behind her with the boys having terrified expressions. "What's wrong?" Peach asked.

"Dont just stand there. RUN! Pyramid Head is behind us" Mario said grabbing Peach's arm then ran off to hide in a room that wasnt locked. They found one right next to the office and hid there. They waited out till Pyramid Head passes by. Due to he walks so slow due to his sword. They sat there looking around the room. It became silent. James tried to open the door to take a peak outside but the door was locked.

"What the fuck? Its locked" James said as he tried using force to open the door but no luck. "Shit we're trapped in here"

"You got to be kidding me" Peach said as she looked around the room as she notice. Behind the tall cabinets was a man hole on the wall. "Mario come over here and help me move this cabinet. This is our exit." Peach said as Mario nodded and pushed it out of the way. The hole was pitch black.

"Are you sure you want to enter this hole? Doesnt look safe to me" James said as they thought about it. "I think one of use should enter that hole to see if its safe enough" James said as Mario volunteer.

"I'll go through it. If its safe I'll come back to let you all know" Mario said as everyone agreed. Mario crawled in the hole and proceed to crawl in it. "Nothing dangerous so far" Mario called out.

"James look! The hole.. it's closing" Peach said as the hole was slowly closing to a normal wall like the man hole was never there. Peach hit the wall calling out for Mario.

Mario was deep within the hole it felt like it was taking forever to get to the other side until he saw the light at the other side. "I found the exit" Mario yelled out as he didnt know there was a wall behind him. As Mario got closer to the light he randomly blacked out.

"What are we suppose to do? We're trapped in here. What if they killed Mario" Peach panicked as James put his hands on her shoulders to calm her down.

"Listen, take a deep breath. Mario's a tough guy. He can take care of himself" James said as Peach started to sob. "We may be trapped in here but all we can do is wait till Mario comes back. I believe he will come back" James said as Peach always believes in Mario, she just panicked.

"Mario please come rescue us where ever you are" Peach said.

Meanwhile. Mario was unconscious at the ground in a carnival. A young girl walked by and notices him. "Since when was hobos living in a hell place like this?" The short hair blonde girl said as she poked Mario with her pipe she was wielding. "He seems to be breathing. I guess I'll take him somewhere safe due to this place is still dangerous at nights" She said as she grabbed Mario's arm and dragged him into the nearest store which is safe.
