A/N: sorry this took so long. I've rewritten it like 17 times and it still isn't very good.

Chapter Two

The wagon rattled around me as it traveled down the dirt path. I was sharpening one of our swords as we traveled. It had a pure black hilt with an ebony shaded, steel blade. The design was very unique, with a wing design engraved into the cross guard. A scarlet pommel decorated the butt of it and the grip was weaved to represent feathers. It had two fullers going down either side of the blade. Its scabbard was at my side. It had similar markings as the grip.

Light from the rising sun gleamed off of it, reflecting my pale face back at me. My crimson eye's seemed to glow in the low light of the wagon. Night black hair scattered across my forehead.

"Dark, You done with that sword back there?" Tilda shouted from the front of the wagon.

I sheathed the sword and hung it along with its matching shield.

"Why do we have to sell such an amazing weapon like that?" I asked while climbing to the front with her.

"We'll get a lot of money because it's such a magnificent piece. Plus you already have a sword."

"Yeah but I like that one more," I whined. "It speaks to me."

"Ha! That's what you said about the last one."

"But that one wasn't black."

"Ugh... fine but you owe me one."

"Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

I hugged her tightly and switched the sword with the one I had been using before. I threw the whetstone I was using to the ground. Looking over to a lone tree I saw a burgundy horse next to someone clad in green.

"Hey sis, who's that?" I asked Tilda.

"I don't know. He looks like a warrior. You see the bandage on his shoulder?"

There was a red soaked wrapping that was coming loose on his upper arm. He looked like he was sleeping, more dead than alive.

"Should we help him with that?" I gestured towards his wounded shoulder.

"No!" She said harshly. "We don't even know him, he might be dangerous."

She made it sound like he was going to kill us if we helped him. I wasn't about to question her, I nodded and changed the subject.

"So where are we going now?" I asked.

"Hyrule Castle Town: the trading capital of the world. That will give us a place to sell our inventory. Plus Telma has a place there."

I got excited at the mentioning of her name. "Telma's going to be there? I haven't seen her in years."

"Yup, she's got a tavern in the city."

"Woohoo! Drinks on you."

"You think I'm going to trust you with alcohol? You're crazy."

"Oh come on. What could possibly go-?"

BUH-BOOM! Suddenly I was hurtling towards the ground with a good portion of our wagon. There was debris flying through the air with me. My new sword landed next to what was left of one of the wheels. I picked it up and pulled out its matching shield. The blade made a distinctive ring when I unsheathed it. Turning around I saw the carnage that was the cart we'd been traveling with. Three goblin-like creatures were scouring the wreckage.

One of them noticed me steadying myself and charged at me club in hand. I tightened my grip on my weapon and lunged at the creature with a flurry of well-placed attacks. When I leaped back it dropped dead on the ground. After erupting in a mysterious cloud of darkness. Another monster was holding Tilda by the neck, strangling her. His companion stood in between us.

"You let her go you son of a bitch!" I screamed while dashing towards them.

The bokoblin in the middle stood ready to take my strikes. I released dozens of slashes and stabs at the ugly beast. It howled in pain as all of them made contact and I dug the dark blade through its purple flesh. I gritted my teeth and in one slash decapitated the demon.

Tilda let out a raspy scream as the final bokoblin clenched her throat tighter. A loud crunch sounded from them and it dropped her limp body from its hands.

"NO!" I sprinted at it and jumped high into the air.

"DIE!" I shouted as I rammed my sword into the creature's skull. It burst into smoke and left a black stain across my left hand.

"Tilda... Tilda no." I held her dead corpse in my arms. I shook with anger. She didn't deserve to be killed, by a bokoblin, in cold blood. My vision blurred as tears poured out of my eyes. I clutched onto her body as the warmth left her. Why did it have to be her? Her face still held the expression of fear it'd had when she died. I closed her eyes and said a prayer to the goddesses.

The fire burned around her as the morning sun drifted across the sky. My sword was slung across my back along with my shield. She deserved a proper burial, but a warrior's grave was the best I could conjure up. Tears still stung my eyes as I went to the wrecked wagon to rest. I sat against a non-burned wall and drifted off to sleep.

A green man was rescuing me from a burning pit. He had cerulean eyes that bore a crevice into my soul. Dirty blonde hair swept his kind face as he reached into the pit for my outstretched hand. A triangle tattoo decorated his hand. It seemed to glow in the darkness.

"Come on Dark!" He shouted to me through the cloth mask that covered half of his face.

I used most of my strength to leap towards him and grab his hand. He pulled me out. I tried to catch my breath as he gave me a bottle filled with water.

"Thanks Link," When did I learn his name? I gulped down the bottle and handed it back to him. "Let's go, Zelda wouldn't want us to delay." Zelda?

Black…

"Hello there, slave." A deep voice boomed in my head. "Have you enjoyed your little break time?"

"Who are you? Where-?" I large, metal guarded hand swept across my face.

"You will address me as your master, slave." The voice continued.

"Who the hell are you?!" I screamed into the darkness.

A gauntlet grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. Yellow eyes filled with hate shined in the darkness. Another hand clutched my throat. Golden fangs formed a smile and a man's face came into focus.

"I am your master, king Ganandorf," He sneered. "And you are my puppet, Dark Link."

He dropped me and palmed my forehead. Images of a past "me" flew through my thoughts. Knowledge of things I didn't know possible.

"I bestow you with this objective: kill the Hero of Twilight, by any means necessary." His eyes bore into mine "Then, you will have your freedom."

"Freedom?" I choked.

"From this," An ebony shackle latched onto my wrist. It felt like it was breaking my arm.

I felt my eyes burn. My body was consumed by energy. I felt immortal. Newfound strength and powers flooded throughout me.

"What… What is this?" My entire figure shone with a black hue.

"It is a gift. In return; you will give me the Hero's head on a silver platter."

Black…

I snapped up. Horse hooves pounded outside the wagon. There was a loud neighing sound. I heard someone start walking this way. Through the window I saw the person that had been sleeping under the tree when we passed. His face was kind like the man in my dream. An image of the other man flashed in my head. How his sickly golden eyes dug into me. I had to kill this "Hero" or he'd kill me.

A brown boot peaked around the corner along with a green tunic. I scrambled to the corner. He looked around the carriage. My heart raced. He stopped in front of me, looking at my… boots? When di I get those? Looked at him and saw ocean blue eyes staring at me. He leaped back and drew his sword. I wanted to be invisible so bad, I didn't want to die.

About 30 seconds passed and I realized he couldn't see me. I looked at my body and saw nothing. He was above me and I was a part of his shadow. He looked as confused as I was. He checked the rest of the wagon and went back to his horse. I was still in his shadow; I wouldn't dare leave it while he was still armed. We road all the way to an enormous castle and city filled with people of all different races and origins. He went right up to the front gate of the castle and flashed some sort of pendant. I couldn't see it from this angle but the guards immediately let him pass.

A large courtyard stretched across my line of sight. There were countless people running around. We walked up to the huge front door of the building. Once we got in a girl came up to us. She was blonde and seemed excited to meet him. She invited him into her room. I was still scared to death about how I was going to get out of this. They talked awhile and she went into another room. I wasn't listening very much, didn't want to intrude on their privacy.

When the girl came back she was wearing a black hood with strange golden markings on the hem. Her hair was hidden by the raven cloak around her. There was something weird about her attire that made me uneasy. I almost felt like it was repelling me. She switched her shoes for brown leather boots. I looked up and saw the warrior gawking at her. Someone has a crush. I giggled silently to myself and went back to my thoughts.

They were walking up and down the city streets; playing carnival games that were so rigged it was painful to watch. He very was interested in the girl, known as "Zelda". I'd go as far to say he was in love. They seemed to know each other really well. Apparently, she was supposed to be some sort of princess. Didn't really look like royalty to me; then again I'd never seen royalty before.

The man's name was "Link" and he seemed to be very respected by the "princess". It was like he was some sort of hero…

Hero.

Ganondorf wants me to kill this guy? Why? He can't even win a game of ski-ball, let alone save the world. Can he?

My thoughts hurt my head. It was then I started listening to what they were saying.

"I just can't sleep at night knowing you'll be spending it slaying monsters,"

"Don't worry. I killed Ganondorf didn't I?"

"Yes, but what if there's something stronger?"

"Like what? He was the strongest enemy in the world."

"I'm still worried."

"Tell you what; you can be worried about me when Zora's Domain freezes over… again."

The both laughed and kept walking. How could this happen? I'm right next to the person I was ordered to kill.

"How about we go to Telma's and get a drink?" Zelda asked.

Telma's!

"Sure! We're right next to it anyway."

This is bad.

They walked through an alley way and entered the strangely quiet bar.

"Heyya Link! Now that you're not saving the world and all, you can afford to put your gear in the weapons check right?" Telma shouted across the room.

"Oh yeah, sorry, where is it?"

"Out in the alley, on the left, here's the key," she tossed a small key to him.

"I'll be right back,"

This was my chance. He was finally alone. I could kill him and be done with it.

He exited the bar and made his way to a large lockbox. I forced myself out of his shadow and stood behind him.

"Hello Hero,"
