Short Story #4 Tony and Marceline in high school part 2

Tony, Scarlet and Jayleene all quietly slipped into the band room after school and as expected spotted Angel setting up her electric guitar.
Marceline, her best friend sat in the back texting on her phone and didn't notice the trio watching from the back door. "So how's your crush thing goin'?" The guitarist asked plucking each of her strings to check it's sound.
Marceline looked up and shrugged. "He's clueless, I feel like giving up..."

Angel stopped. "Why?"
"I believe he's into Demi."
"He wouldn't be..."
Tony raised an eyebrow at the mention of Demi. "Why wouldn't he? I mean it's not like I can compete with her anyway." she mumbled, going back to texting.
Her best friend just silently shrugged and started playing a few random songs.

The teenage boy could recognize most of them.
-Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
-Let Me Go by Avril Lavigne
-Your Nickel Ain't Worth My Dime by Sleeping With Sirens
And so on.
Tony looked at the other two spies with him and gave a thumbs up to her talent. "Okay let's go..." he whispered. "We'll talk to her tomorrow."
The group was about to leave when suddenly Jayleene's phone went off loudly.
Both Scarlet and Tony jumped and the girl tried to answer as fast as she could. "What?!" she whispered harshly into her phone. "Kai, now's not a good time." she whimpered and hung up.

Marceline and Angel heard the loud ringing and the girl in green simply stood up and turned to the back door. Her eyes were surprisingly calm as she saw Jayleene and Scarlet but when saw Tony, her heart stopped.
'Did he hear what I said to Angel?!' she thought. 'Does he know who I meant...?'
"What the fuck are you guys doing in here?!" Angel shouted, attempting to hide her guitar in it's case.
"We-We-We were-" Jayleene stuttered.
"Looking for Tony's drumsticks! He left 'em in here." Scarlet lied, smiling.

"You mean these?" Angel sighed, taking them out Tony's back pocket. "How much did you hear and why did you sneak in?"
Marceline just stood quietly behind Angel, eyeing Tony in embarrassment.
"We're here 'cuz...We want you in our band for the Music Fair..." Tony managed to say. "We heard you play guitar and-"
"No." Angel cut him off. "Hell no."
"Why not?" Scarlet whined. "We listened and you're good!"
"I don't care, not doing it."
Jayleene and Scarlet folded their arms, but Angel growled at them both. They were suddenly reminded of who this girl was and backed down. Tony looked pleadingly at Marceline, who opened her mouth.

"Maybe you should, man."
"What?" Angel looked at her friend, coldly. "Why?"
"The prize is a thousand bucks."
"So what?"
"Dividing that by four, it's two hundred fifty each, you know what you could do with that money?" Marceline smirked.
Angel raised an eyebrow. "I'll think about it."
"We're gonna' start practicing on Saturday at my house...In case you change you make up your mind..." Tony said.

...
Tony waited by Marceline's motrocycle after he left the band room. Scarlet had already gone home without him and Jayleene left shortly after. He saw Angel and Marceline emerge from the school, shortly talk to each other and separate. He watched the blonde walk over. "Hey..." she greeted, throwing her bag on both her shoulders.
"Hi..." he smiled. "Thanks for talking to your friend..."
"No problem, but she hasn't said yes yet."
"Yeah but without you there, she might've punched one of us, 'preciate it." he leaned forward to give her a hug. "You're...really cool."

Marceline blushed harshly and hugged back. 'Best day of my life!' she thought, rejoicing. He smelt sweet and felt warmer than she expected in the fantasies she played over and over in her head. "So..." he began, pulling away from her hug. "Whose this crush?"

Her heart did a backflip and her face burnt like lava you'd find in hell. "W-what?"
"Sorry...it's none of my business, but I overheard it and..." he smiled. "I should help you out like you helped me...Maybe I could get you a date to the Music Fair."
"N-no! I'm..." she gulped. He thought she liked someone else...Was them dating even a thing to consider in his mind...? "I'm good..."
"Ahh, c'mon, I won't tell!"
"It's not that...I just-"
Marceline's sentence was cut off by Tony's phone ringing. "Just a sec'..." he said, answering the phone.

"Tony! Hi!" Demi's irritating voice came through the phone.
"Oh...Hi Demi..." he rolled his eyes.
Marceline's heart sank, hearing her name. She mouthed 'I gotta' go' before climbing onto her motorcycle. Tony grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes, asking her silently to stay.
Her heart raced unbelievably fast and she leaned into him and he dropped his phone in surprise when he felt lips pressed up against his.

After only a second, they both heard a voice that made them pull apart. "Marceli-" the voice stopped and Tony looked over Marceline's shoulder to see Lloyd. Her brother simply smirked.
"Lloyd, dude I-"
"It's okay." the boy chuckled. "Marceline, I'll walk...bye."

Tony looked at Marceline whose face was bright red. "You kiss-"
"Bye!" she cut him off and started up her bike, speeding out the school parking lot.
"Kissed me..." he finished long after she was gone. He stood in shock before picking up his phone and starting to walk.
