The promo for Rookie Blue came on Global tonight so I figured I should probably put a final chapter to this story. A little late and short, but it's here.
"So," Chloe said as they were in the car. "What's going on between you and Luke?"
Andy glared at her while trying to keep her focus on the road. "Nothing is going on between Luke and I."
"Oh come on. I may be climbing Dov Mountain but I'm not blind."
She shook her head. "Luke and I had, I mean, Luke and I have a past. It's complicated."
Chloe smiled that big smile she had. "Please, Andy. Ex's with a past. We all have a past. You just happen to be doing yours right now."
"I am not sleeping with Luke."
"But you're not denying something is going on between Luke and you?"
Andy rolled her eyes. "Luke and I are not an item. End of story." She sure was happy to hear dispatch on her radio. Very happy.
"It sounds like someone is targeting 15. Anything you need, you got," Luke said to Frank and Swarek before ducking out because he saw Andy. He had heard that she was with Chloe when Chloe was shot in the park.
"Andy," he called after her and she stopped, beside Nick.
She sighed. "Luke, what do you want?"
He smiled at her. "I just wanted to make sure you are alright. I heard you took a bullet to the vest."
Andy shrugged. "Yeah. Nick's just going to take my statement, since I was with Chloe and everything."
Luke motioned at Nick to go away. "I'll do it," he said and grabbed her hand and brought her to a lounge where they could sit. "You sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, Luke. I just, I just want Chloe to be alright," she said, quietly.
He took her hand and squeezed it. "Chloe's a fighter. I'm sure she will be. Can you tell me what happened?" he had his notepad out, reading to take her statement.
Her face just quivered. "Not now. All I can think about it is when he first started shooting and it felt like my life was flashing before my eyes. I've been shot at before, but not like this."
"If you weren't having those thoughts I'd be concerned," Luke replied.
Andy swallowed. "What if Chloe won't make it."
"She will. You can't go there at all, Andy."
"What do you know, McNally?" Luke asked. At work it was McNally, at home or personal, it was Andy. In reality, he was furious with her. They were outside Cruz's home and he was shaking he was so mad.
"She has bipolar," Andy replied.
Luke rubbed his jaw. "And you thought it would be a good idea to cover for her?"
"She's a good cop, Luke! You know that as well as I do. She's a damn good cop."
"That doesn't matter right now. She shouldn't be carrying a gun right now! For fuck sake's. You do realize how bad this is?"
She nodded. "I do. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you. Marlo said she had is under control."
"Of course she did," Luke snapped. He sighed. "Look. Let's just put this behind us. We need to find Oliver."
Andy nodded and turned to walk away. Luke called out for her. "Stay safe, Andy," he said, quietly. All she did was nod back at him.
Luke got a confession out of the other Ford brother. He admitted the whole thing now that his brother wasn't there to pin it on. Luke watched them close the jail cell door. He was now being processed, pending charges being laid. He wasn't sure what charges would be laid, that was up to the prosecuting attorney. Luke knew everyone was at the hospital so he made his way over there.
He heard Frank ask if they could go see Sam and the doctor said one person. Nobody spoke up right away and Luke could see Andy and Nick whispering but in the end it was Frank following the doctor back into the hallway. Luke knew that Andy was in the ambulance, she insisted on it. He really wasn't sure what that meant.
Andy turned around to see him and just hugged him in front of all their coworkers. He wrapped his strong arms around her and sighed, inhaling the smell of her shampoo. "It's going to be alright," was all he whispered. In the corner of his eye he could see Steve Peck, holding onto Traci's hand and he nodded in their direction, letting them know he had it under control.
Andy finally pulled back. "Can we get out of here?"
"You sure?"
She sniffed. "I'll text Frank and see what his condition is. I just need some air."
Luke led Andy out of the hospital, hand on her back. "You okay to go back to the station and change?"
She nodded silently and the whole ride back, she was silent. He stood outside the women's locker room as Andy spent a whole five seconds getting changed. She looked up at him nodded to get out of there. They were in his car, going to one of their place's before she finally spoke. "Marlo's locker was cleared out."
"She'll be suspended, with pay for right now. That's until all this dies down and we can figure out what the heck will happen to her," Luke figured he wouldn't sugar coat the truth. "I'm not sure if she'll get her gun back, though."
Andy nodded. "She's a good cop."
"She's a good cop who made a bad decision," Luke said. "Ultimately that bad decision led to Chloe getting shot at, Oliver getting kidnapped and Swarek getting shot. That doesn't look good."
She just swallowed as Luke pulled up to his place and she stepped out of the car. "Can we just forget anything happened?"
Luke chuckled a little bit. "I wish we could, Andy," he said as he unlocked the door and she entered.
"Just for tonight?" Andy asked. "Watch some Scandal, pig out on popcorn and beer and forget that this whole day ever happened."
Luke nodded. "We can. But you have to remember that when we wake up tomorrow morning, you'll eventually have to face what happened."
"I know," she replied, taking off her jacket.
Luke walked up to her and took her in his arms again. "We'll get through this. Together."
Andy swallowed and sighed but looked him in the eye. "Together." She kissed him and after she pulled back, she laid her head on his chest. In Luke's arms, everything was alright for the time being.
If the plot bunnies work out, would you guys like to see another Andy/Luke story for season 5?
