"Three, two, one…FIGHT!" Sebastian called to the audience of Order members. The crowd cheered and shouted as Felix rapidly shot out a ball of fire in the blink of an eye. The blaze hit his opponent (a man his age with the same power as him) straight in the chest. The man stumbled backwards and waved his arm, sending a wave of flame surging towards Felix. Pewds easily parted the flames with one, fluid motion and the corners of his mouth turned to a smirk. He shot out three more fireballs that all hit the man in the chest. Felix sprinted towards his opponent and fire-kicked him to the ground. A loud bell noise signaled that the match was over.
"Congratulations Felix, the reigning champion!" Sebastian hollered and the crowd went insane for Pewds. Pewds smiled to himself, that was his 50th win in the last couple of weeks and he had remained undefeated. He had quickly climbed through the ranks of the Order in the last couple of weeks; he was now close to becoming one of the Elite. These were the unique S7's that were extremely gifted at their powers and they worked very closely with Sebastian.
"I would like you to follow me Felix." Felix snapped back to the present and saw that Sebastian was towering over him. Pewds nodded and followed his leader into a hallway that connected to the arena. The inside of it could be only described as a castle dungeon. Gray stone bricks created the walls and floor and torches lit the hallway all the way down to a large door at the end of it. Felix matched Sebastian's stride step for step as they neared the end of the hallway. The leader opened the door for his champion and Pewds stepped into the office. It greatly resembled something that you would see in Amnesia. On the other side of the huge desk that sat in the middle of the room sat The Dreamwalker, the small teleportation man, Riana, and Alex. Riana and Alex seemed very excited while The Dreamwalker and teleporter showed no emotion.
"Felix, we would like to officially congratulate you on your 50th straight win." Sebastian began. "So I would like you to join us and become a member of the Elite." Felix's heart skipped a beat. Oh my God this is really happening! He almost exploded from happiness at the thought of being one of the Elite.
"I would like to send you on your first mission as an Elite tonight. Riana will explain." Sebastian walked over to his large chair behind the desk and sat down while Riana stepped forward to speak.
"Lately, we have noticed that some of our training equipment and food has been missing for the past couple of days. We've traced the evidence down to a town not far from here. Our moles have discovered the identity of the thief and where he kept the supplies. Our job as Elites are to detain the thief while others are taking back the supplies that he stole from us." Riana explained with unwavering confidence.
"But what will we do with him once we get him here?" Felix inquired. He wasn't sure about kidnapping someone, even if they were a thief.
"We'll just scare him into not coming back here. Interrogate him for information and we'll send him on his way. We get our stuff back and he leaves us alone. No harm done." Riana curtly explained. Pewds put his doubts to rest and nodded. Suddenly, Alex stood up.
"The plan is that Eli here" Alex gestured to the man that initially teleported Felix here, "will teleport us just outside the town. Since Felix here is the new guy, he'll stand watch while Dream sneaks inside and captures the criminal. Then he'll bring him back out and Eli will teleport us all back. Quick and easy." Alex sat back down again.
"Now that everyone knows the plan, let's go." Sebastian sat up along with everyone else. All of them stood in a circle with their hands joined. Eli closed his eyes and Felix felt the vibrating begin. He closed his eyes as well to help get through the uncomfortable experience. An instant later, he felt a cool breeze hit his face and the earthy smell of plants tickled his nose. Pewds opened his eyes to see that they were behind a series of large bushes.
"Felix, I want you to stay behind these bushes but watch for us. If anyone comes around here, shoot up a small flame to warn us." Sebastian explained. "Riana, Alex, and I are going to retrieve the stolen supplies. Eli stay here with Felix so that when we catch the criminal you can immediately take him back to the school, then come back for us later." Everyone nodded, Felix assumed his position behind the bush and Riana, Alex, and Sebastian ran off in another direction. Dream transformed into a black cloud of smoke and floated down the road silently. Eli sat down behind the bush with his arms crossed.
In front of the bushes was a gravel road and on each side were old looking cottages. Felix sighed, this was extremely boring; nothing was happening in the dark, cold night. He was expecting his first Elite mission to be more exciting than this and he sighed.
"So what exactly is Dream's power?" Pewds asked Eli without taking his eyes off the road.
"Darkness." Eli sighed. I guess that makes sense Pewds thought. He was silent for a couple more minutes before he spotted a thick cloud of smoke approaching the bush. Well that was fast. The cloud sat next to him and transformed back into Dream, who was holding a large burlap sack. The bag was unnaturally stiff and unmoving for it to be containing a body. Dream noticed Pewds staring horrifyingly at the bag he was holding.
"Don't worry, he's just knocked out." Felix let out a sigh of relief. Eli stood up and grasped the two men's hands and they were teleported back to Sebastian's office. Dream gently laid the bag on the table and walked out of the room without saying a single word. Eli teleported away to bring back the rest of the Elite and Felix was left alone with the body. Full of curiosity, he poked it and felt the soft texture confirming that it was indeed a human inside the bag. Pewds looked at the opening of the bag with wonder. It wouldn't hurt just to look he thought as his hands reached to the rope that kept the bag shut. But when he touched the rope, he flinched away. No! If I open it I'll get in real trouble. I don't want to get kicked off the Elite on the first day! Felix shook his head. He patiently waited until Eli, Sebastian, Riana, and Alex suddenly appeared in the room.
"Hey guys, where are all of the supplies?" Pewds approached the group.
"That's not important right now Felix, I need to show you something. I would like everyone else to leave at once." Sebastian gestured towards the door. All three of the Elite exited the room, but before leaving Riana placed her hand on Felix's shoulder. He looked into her eyes and noticed that there was a sparkle of…fear? Riana snapped back and left the room; the door shut behind them. Pewds turned back to face Sebastian.
"Felix, follow me." Sebastian grabbed the sack and pulled it over his shoulder. He then walked over to the bookshelf that stood behind his desk. When he pulled one of the books back a mechanic sound began to erupt from the wall. The bookshelf was pulled aside to reveal a series of stairs that lead downward. Sebastian walked into the abyss and Felix silently followed him. The hallway was almost identical to the one before, but instead it was much smaller and the floor was metallic and it clinked every time that they took a step.
"So what is this place?" Pewds finally asked.
"You'll find out soon," Sebastian said as they reached a silver iron door. The large man opened it without hesitation and Felix gasped. The door had revealed a huge laboratory! There were all the scientific instruments you could imagine scattered around the various lab tables. He noticed a long cabinet that contained countless vials of various substances.
"Wow! Just look at this place! What do you guys do here?" Felix asked in astonishment.
"The Order has been working on bettering S7 life for many years. Through science of course." Sebastian explained while continuing through the room and opened a separate door. A man in a white lab coat approached them and Sebastian gave him the burlap sack to take away.
"Well how are you helping us with science?" Felix asked, still quite confused. Sebastian was silent as he opened the door to another room. There was a row of chairs that all faced a large glass wall. Pewds couldn't see past the other side of the glass. There were a few more people in white lab coats looking out with clipboards in hand.
"Please Felix, take a seat." Sebastian motioned to the chairs and Pewds did as he asked. Looking out into the blackness outside the room, Felix noticed small movements in the darkness. Some of them so minute that he wasn't sure that they were there at all. Without warning, a single light turned on and revealed a large cage. In the middle of the compartment was a person tied to a chair…with a large burlap sack covering the upper part of their body. Now let's see who this thief really is Felix thought. One of the people in lab coats swished their hand and the bag was pulled off of the person's head.
Pewds gasped in surprise. The person sitting in the chair was a small boy, looking to be about the age of 10. He had short blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, which were almost shut from being knocked out. The boy looked confusingly around the room.
"Hey where am I?" the boy called out into the darkness, apparently he couldn't see them. The boy began to struggle against the ropes that bound him to the metallic chair. Suddenly, all of the parts clicked together. They didn't capture a criminal they kidnapped a little kid!
"What the hell are you doing?!" Felix jumped from his seat, but was quickly pulled back down by Sebastian.
"Just watch" Sebastian whispered into his ear and Pewds relaxed. The same man in the lab coat moved his hand again and a small syringe floated into the cage. It injected itself into the child and the boy shrieked in response.
"What are you doing to me?!" The boy cried out and tears began to well up in his blue eyes. Felix's heart sunk, he was the one who kidnapped this poor boy. Suddenly, the boy began to scream and rock in his chair. His outbursts were long and full of anger and pain… Felix shut his eyes and closed his ears. Then, as soon as it had started, the screaming stopped and the young boy went unconscious in the chair. Pewd's eyes stared horrifyingly at the hung head of the child he kidnapped.
"Another fail" one of the scientists said and they all shuffled out of the room.
"What the fuck happened?! What are you doing here?! You said that you were working to better S7s! Not hurt innocent kids!" Pewds angrily turned to face Sebastian.
"Felix, have you failed to realize how hated and discriminated against we S7s are? You don't understand the pain and suffering that most of us go through. The world casts us out and we're forced to attend a school in the middle of nowhere to even learn about why we're hated! That's why, a couple years ago, a plan was composed to show the population that we're not just abominations!"
"And how are you going to do that by experimenting on children?!"
"You see… our top scientists are working towards a serum. This formula will be able to give people gifts! And not just any gifts, ultra gifts! The operation is for Ultra S7s to show the people how truly powerful we are! Finally they will accept our superiority! This operation is Operation Tarot and you are its newest agent." Sebastian smiled crazily. Felix stared back in true horror.
"How could you do this? Hurt innocent children! Even if this works then the population won't want you! They'll fear you and strike back against all S7s! You're going to start a war you can't win! I won't let you do this! I'll tell everyone about the Order and what you're doing here! I won't go along with it!" Pewds practically screamed at his leader.
"I'm afraid you won't get the chance to do that Felix." Sebastian began. "You see, Dream also has the power to enter people's dreams. Do you remember how real your initiation felt?" Felix remembered the pain and fear as clear as day.
"He has the capability to kill people in their dreams, send them into a coma forever. Hmmmm…Marzia was her name? It would be a shame if something were to happen to her." Sebastian slyly grinned with evil burning deeply in his eyes.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Felix tensed up at the thought of something happening to Marzia.
"Well, if you don't tell anyone then we won't have any problems. And remember, we'll be watching you." Sebastian smiled. Felix then angrily stalked away back to his dorm.
(Back in Sebastian's office)
Dream opened the door and stepped into Sebastian's office. The leader himself had his back turned to him.
"Sebastian?" Dream called to the leader. He knew that he heard him enter; it was more of a formality.
"Yes Dream? What do you have to report?"
"We have two more accounts of students receiving their gifts."
"Well why do I care?"
"Sir… one of them is a morph." Dream continued.
"Well, well, well. What is his name?"
"Mark." Dream gulped. Sebastian stared off into the distance and smirked deviously.
"Well then, let's pay Mark a visit."
