Pitch-blackness was all Mark saw as he came back to his senses. He blinked his eyes open to see only more darkness. His eyes stretched wide to confirm that he was indeed conscious, but it was no use. Mark still couldn't see a thing. Then a terrifying thought crossed his mind, Am I… blind? Mark thought. No, no he wasn't. The smooth texture of a cloth around his head let him know that he was merely blindfolded. Mark squirmed slightly in the chair he was sitting in and felt that a few chains bound him in his seat. Dammit I cant get loose he huffed in aggravation hey where am I anyway? Mark turned his head to survey the room, even though the blindfold obstructed his vision. The room was humid and the sharp odor of chemicals and metal flooded his nose. Maybe I can turn into something small and get the hell out of here Mark thought as he focused his mind on transforming into a mouse.
Suddenly, a jolt of electricity jumped from the chains and zapped him across the chest. Mark's cry of pain echoed through the room and he gave up on trying to escape. Whoever tied me up knew about my power Mark's heart began to beat quickly in his chest as the sound of footsteps reached him.
"Hey who are you and where am I?!" Mark yelled to the entity that was approaching him.
"Mark, that's no way to treat your host" a deep and husky voice entered his ears. Without warning the blindfold was tugged off of him and blinding light flooded his eyes. After letting his eyes focus and adjust to the light he made out a large man that wore a hooded cloak standing in front of him. Mark's eyes instinctively darted around the room and made out the thin outline of metal bars against the wall of darkness that surrounded him, except for the one light.
"My name is Sebastian, and you must be Mark." Sebastian grinned and Mark frowned.
"Why did you take me here?" Mark spat.
"You are in the secret base of The Order, Mark. We are an elite group of S7's that are far more gifted than our fellow classmates. We train every day to become better and better."
"So what do you want? Do you want me… to join you?" Mark inquired; some of his fear melting away.
"In…a way yes." Sebastian grinned slyly and pulled out from his pocket a syringe that contained a neon green substance that shimmered in the light. Fear rapidly overtook Mark as he thrashed in his seat, trying to escape.
"NOOO!" Mark screamed again as his attempts to escape were met with another jolt of electricity. The large man stepped closer and closer ever so slowly with the needle still in hand. Once Sebastian was close enough Mark couldn't move without getting zapped. The syringe was injected into his forearm and Mark flinched away. The substance felt like liquid fire as it traveled up his arm, through his heart, and around his entire body. His muscles twitched uncontrollably and his head felt as if it was going to explode from the pressure. No thoughts crossed his mind as the pain threw him into unconsciousness once again.
(That morning outside Saph's room)
Cry stood at Saph's door, contemplating whether he should offer to walk her to class. He didn't want to offend her by thinking that she can't handle herself. He also didn't want to leave her alone to think about what happened last night. Cry knocked on her door twice and heard the shuffle of footsteps inside. The door swung open and Saph greeted Cry.
"Hey Saph, would you mind if I accompanied you to class?" He asked in a considerate voice.
"I'd like that" Saph smiled weakly back at him; she seemed tired. She stepped out of her room and closed the door behind her. Cry leaned in until his mask was a couple of inches away from her face, his seemingly expressionless eyes pierced into hers.
"Are you ok?" His low and serious voice rumbled from behind his mask.
"I-I'm fine Cry." Saph stuttered she was still shaky from the night before. She began to walk away and Cry followed beside her.
"Do you want to talk about what happened?"
"What's there to talk about?"
"How did it start?"
"Well he just pushed me onto the bed and kissed me without warning! He said that he loved me for a while now and when I said I didn't feel the same way he…" Saph trailed off and Cry understood.
"It's ok now Saph…I think you should apologize to Mark. You said some pretty nasty things to him." Saph snapped her head to face Cry. "I heard you two in the bathroom." He explained.
"Yeah I know…" Saph said as they approached the other Youtubers at their usual hang out spot. Both of them were surprised to see that Mark wasn't there.
"Hey guys what's up?" Yami greeted Saph and Cry.
"Nothing much, do you guys know where Mark is?" Cry asked the group and they all shook their heads.
"Nope, we thought he was with you two." Sky spoke up.
"Well wherever he is he owes me five bucks for kicking his ass at Rayman." Jerome smiled. Saph looked over to see Ken staring nervously off into the distance.
"Hey is everything ok Ken?" Saph asked.
"I don't know. Something just doesn't seem right. It's not like Mark to just run off without telling anybody."
"Well he wasn't in the room when me and Yami woke up, I actually thought that Mark would have been with you Saph." Cry spoke.
"I haven't seen him since last night." Saph confessed.
"Come to think of it, I didn't see Mark come into our room last night to sleep," said Yami.
"I think you should go ask Ms. Wattman if she knows where he is. Maybe she knows." Minx suddenly appeared.
"I'll go ask Ms. Wattman where Mark is while you guys go to your classes and tutors, they're going to start pretty soon and I don't want you to be late." Saph waved to the group and they all split in different directions.
(In Ms. Wattman's office)
"Hi Saph. What do you need?" Ms. Wattman greeted Saph.
"I was wondering whether you've seen Mark today. He's not where our group usually meets everyday." Saph stood in front of the principal's desk.
"He was labeled as out sick today. Why are you so worried?"
"It's just the combination of everything that's going on right now. With the kidnappings, rumors about a secret underground organization, and trying to teach the only other morph known to existence I'm just being worked to the bone." Saph sighed and slumped down into a chair.
"And you've been doing an amazing job! I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate everything that you've done for this school and me." Ms. Wattman smiled warmly at Saph and she returned the favor.
"Thanks, I guess I'll be going now." Saph walked out the door.
"Ok, be safe now." Ms. Wattman called after her. Saph casually walked down the narrow hallway. Her steps were quickened with the thought of Mark possibly being in danger. And to think, Saph thought, the last works I said to him were fuck you. She sadly sighed and turned the corner, but quickly hid back behind it when she noticed a few people talking in hushed voices.
"Was the mission successful?" said a small voice
"Of course it was, the prisoner is captured without any trouble." A husky, low voice replied.
"And how is he responding to the treatment?" a female voice spoke
"Mark is recovering quite well, he should be active tomorrow." Saph's heart stopped and her blood ran ice cold. Mark is... a prisoner!? Where did they take him?! And what the hell is this treatment they're talking about?! I have to find out more soon, for Mark's sake. Saph waited for the other two other people to leave before pulling out a special pair of handcuffs from her back pocket. They have the ability to negate someone's powers if worn. She has carried them with her wherever she went since the kidnappings began. Now they can finally be put to use. Saph burst from around the corner and took the small man by surprise. She pushed him up against the wall and handcuffed him before he could use his power.
"What the hell are you doing?!" The man yelled and Saph cupped her hand around his mouth to keep him quiet.
"You're coming with me." Saph whispered and dragged him away.
(Saph's Dorm)
"So who the hell are you?" Saph questioned the man that sat in the chair. She had gathered all of the Youtubers together for an emergency meeting in her room. All of them stared at the man with curiosity, except Pewds who sat in the back of the room and avoided eye contact with everyone.
"My name is Eli." Eli nearly spat.
"You can cut the attitude sir." Cry crossed his arms.
"So why did you bring him here Saph?" Minx asked.
"I overheard him and a couple of goons talking about keeping Mark prisoner!" Everyone in the room gasped and eyed Eli angrily.
"Where is he?!" Yami yelled at Eli's face and he flinched backwards.
"H-he's in our headquarters." Eli was shivering with fear.
"What headquarters?" Ken stepped forward.
"I belong to a secret organization called The Order. We are a group of extremely talented S7's who work to better our skills." Saph perked back up and stepped closer to Eli.
"Do you know anything about any recent kidnappings?"
"I-I… no." Eli looked away from her sharp gaze. Saph's eyes narrowed and she stepped closer to the tied up Eli. With a swift kick the chair and Eli went flying backwards and landed on the floor.
"I don't think you're telling us the truth, now I'm going to ask you again. What do you know about the recent kidnappings?" She spoke slowly to ensure that each painful word was etched into Eli's mind. The prisoner darted his eyes to Felix who was separate from everyone else.
"Why don't you ask Felix over there? He's the one you should be asking."
"Why on Earth would we need to question Felix? He doesn't even have anything to do with this." Minx gestured to Pewds, but the flinched slightly at the comment.
"I…I-I…." Felix stuttered for a couple of seconds before Eli jumped in once again.
"What? You can't even stand up for your fellow Order member? I always knew you were weak, even after that show you put on with Mitch!" Everyone in the room, except for Felix and Eli, gasped in shock and turned to Pewds.
"Felix…is this true?" Cry asked him. Felix glanced back at Eli, and then hung his head in shame.
"Yes, it's true. I'm… a member of the Order." He mumbled. Everyone stared in dead silence at the man before them for a few moments before Saph spoke up.
"So do you know anything about the kidnappings Felix?" She placed a hand on his shoulder and he looked back up at her with grief-stricken eyes.
"Yes I know about them." He looked briefly at Marzia before continuing "The Order have been kidnapping the children."
"And how are they kidnapping them?" Saph urged him on.
"Eli teleports us to the nearby village. Then The Dreamwalker turns into a cloud of smoke and takes the children and Eli teleports us back."
"So what part do you play in all of this? What position do you hold in order for you to take children away from their families?" Deadlox darkly spat at Felix.
"I'm sorry! T-they tricked me! At first I thought that it was just a harmless group that work on bettering their powers. They recognized my skills and invited me to join them. That's when I got this." Felix pulled up his sleeve to reveal the large O with three claw marks in the middle seared into his skin. Everyone winced picturing how much it hurt to get that mark."
"I climbed the ranks pretty quickly through training battles and eventually I was an Elite. The night that I was inducted into the Elite was the night I found out about the kidnappings. They told me that someone from that village had stolen supplies from us. I thought we were kidnapping a thief… but it turned out to be a little boy. I tried to stop it but I was too late…" Felix trailed off.
"What happened to him?" Sky asked and Felix took a deep breath.
"They injected him with this weird substance. He started screaming and thrashing around and I tried to help him, but Sebastian held me back. Apparently the Order has a huge lab connected to their hideout that has scientists and everything. Sebastian went on this rant about how us S7's are so discriminated and hated. His plan… is to inject people with this stuff that gives you extremely powerful gifts and release them onto the world." Felix finished his explanation and starred at the floor.
"So why the hell did you keep this a secret?! We could have stopped this from even happening and Mark could have been safe and sound!" Mitch began to yell at Pewds but Saph shook her head, signaling him to stop.
"I'm so…so sorry that I didn't tell you guys sooner. Believe me, I wanted to tell you so bad so none of this would have happened. But Sebastian said that if I told any of you about the Order then he would kill Marzia." Once again, everyone gasped and Marzia stood forward.
"You kept that awful secret to protect me?"
"Of course. But now we have a hostage." Felix glanced at Saph hoping that she would get the message.
"That's a great idea! But it's pretty risky. If it doesn't work then both Mark and us are going to be in huge trouble."
"So what's the plan?" Jerome asked Saph.
"I really don't want to do it because I want to end this kidnapping nonsense, but I have to in order to get Mark back. Without Eli they can't teleport to the village and kidnap more kids. So, we make a trade with the Order, Mark for Eli."
