Saph opened her eyes and saw her room enveloped in darkness. She grumbled and glanced at her alarm clock that sat next to her bed. Brain, why do you have to wake me up at 1:00 in the fucking morning? I've got to begin tutoring Mark in a couple more hours! Speaking of Mark, Saph only now realized that he was cuddling up to her with his arms around her stomach and his face and inch from the back of her head. On any other night she would have enjoyed the closeness and fallen back to sleep, but not tonight. She carefully pried his arms apart and stepped out of bed. The window to her room was cracked open as always; she loved to fall asleep to the sound of the night breeze. The soft, white curtains swayed away from the window elegantly every time the wind picked up. Saph sighed and thanked the universe that Ms. Wattman wasn't strict when it came to boys sleeping in the girl's dorms, well at least not strict with her.
Her eyes instinctively scanned the dark field that unfolded from the view of the window. The grass parted and swayed with the breeze. The full moon shone brightly and the stars twinkled. It was a beautiful night, actually morning, but something seemed out of place. Saph sighed The Order has been quiet, too quiet. I wouldn't have expected them to take too kindly to us stealing the antidote, but they haven't even showed a sign of an attack or anything! Suddenly, an idea popped into Saph's mind and she glanced back to where Mark was. He was in the same position as before with his eyes closed, his hair a mess, and his limbs splayed across the bed.
"Sorry Mark, but I gotta do this." She whispered before prying the window open, morphing into a bat, and flapping out into the night.
LINEBREAK
Using echolocation, the bat Saph arrived above the North Fields. Her flapping wings brought her down closer and closer to her target. She finally landed on the soft grass near the green metal hatch that Cry, Felix, and her used to sneak into the Order HQ. After turning into her human self, she tried to open the hatch back up. Saph grunted in frustration as the trapdoor refused to budge. Taking a closer look, she realized that the opening had been welded shut. Dammit…how am I going t-
A rustle interrupted her thought and she morphed into a field mouse. Saph turned around to spot a hooded figure approaching the middle of the field. Suddenly, Eli appeared in front of the figure. That's my ticket in! She quickly transformed into a mosquito and latched onto the cloak of the Order member just as he was teleported into the Order HQ. When Saph opened her bug eyes, she saw a huge arena unfold before her and a huge crowd of hooded people was looking to Sebastian, who was sitting on a large golden thrown. Woah… I never knew their hideout was THIS big! How long has this been going on? She turned into a fly and flew off of the cloak that had transported her there. Once she was high enough to see everyone in the arena, Sebastian stood from his thrown and silenced the bustling crowd. After silence rang through the arena, the leader of the Order spoke.
"Welcome brothers and sisters! We are gathered here to discuss the future of our group…and the school." A ripple of whispers echoed through the crowd for an instant, then it fell silent once again.
"As you all may have heard our brother Felix has betrayed us and left the Order. He and his accomplices have recently stolen the antidote to the Ultra S7 serum and endangering operation Tarot! They had even gone to kidnap our brother Eli to force us to trade Mark to get him back!" This time an outburst of indignation echoed through the crowd before Sebastian quieted them.
"We must retaliate before these traitors attack us once again! The Elite members and I have decided that three days from today we will retake the school by force! When the clock strikes the twelfth hour we will take the principal hostage and take the weaker classmates prisoner. Then, we will use the serum on all of them and start to move south with our army. No longer will we have to stay in hiding! No longer do we have to be afraid!" Sebastian raised his fist in the air and the rest of the crowd did the same while yelling in agreement.
As the screaming died down, Saph flew down one of the corridors that led from the arena. She flew down a series of hallways and finally found her way to the ladder out. After turning back into her human form, she climbed up the ladder. Once at the top, she stuck her forefinger out and it burst into a tiny, blue flame. I forgot about this little trick! Saph traced the outline of the rim of the hatch with her finger. When she was done, she successfully lifted the top and climbed out. Now outside, Saph closed the hatch, morphed once again into a bat, and flew away.
Saph's Dorm Room
Mark suddenly awoke and opened his eyes to see Saph's room cloaked in darkness. He looked over to the alarm clock that sat next to the bed. 1:30 in the morning?! Damn you brain for waking me up so early! Mark groaned and felt around the bed. His heart quickened when he realized that the bed was missing its previous warmness. Where's Saph? Mark sat up hastily and surveyed the room. He gasped when he saw that the window was pried open. Oh no…what if the Order got her?! Where did sh- Mark's worried thought was interrupted by a small bat flapping into the room. He breathed a sigh of relief when it turned into Saph.
"Saph!" Mark ran over to her and gave her a hug. "I thought the Order got you! Don't go running off like that without telling me first!" And that's when she broke apart. Her legs buckled underneath her and her breath hitched in his ear.
"Saph? What's wrong?"
"I-It's the Order! They're going to attack the school!" Saph sputtered and trembled.
"What did you hear?" Mark pulled away from her slowly.
"Sebastian was talking to entire organization and he told everyone about the missing antidote. He said that three days from now at noon the entire Order is going to attack everyone! Mark they're going to take Ms. Wattman hostage and inject everyone with the Ultra S7 serum! What are we going to do?!" Saph was beginning to panic. Mark cupped her cheeks and pulled her head close to his so they were staring into each other's eyes.
"Listen to me Saph. Everything is going to be ok. We'll find a way to stop that from happening…I promise." Mark said slowly, never breaking eye contact.
"B-but there's so many of them! How are we going t-"
"Then we'll amass an army of our own. We'll get people that aren't in the Order on our side to level the playing field. Let's talk more about it in the morning, we need all our strength!" Mark hopped back into bed and Saph soon followed with a blank expression on her face.
(Lunch)
"THEY'RE GOING TO DO WHAT?!" everyone at the lunch table exclaimed at once. They weren't handling the news very well.
"Do we even have a plan?" Marzia asked, very concerned.
"Mark suggested that we recruit a few members of our own to give us a fighting chance." Saph motioned to Mark to give him time to explain.
"Well I think we need to find out who around us are in the Order and who we can trust. We need to find someone who has a lot of power within the student body, someone strong, influential, and who people are going to believe and listen to." Mark explained and looked to the group for suggestions.
"What about your guy's tutor, Brice?" Minx asked Mitch and Jerome.
"He's strong, but too harsh. People won't want to follow him." Mitch shook his head.
"Why can't Saph do it? She's the most powerful S7 and she has a lot of power in the school!" Ken suggested and Yami shook his head.
"No, don't get me wrong she is the most powerful, but she doesn't have the necessary influence with the students themselves. No offense" Yami glanced to Saph.
"It's true" was all she said in response.
"I know this is going to sound really crazy…but what about Rex?" Cry looked up from his meal and everyone gasped in surprise.
"Are you insane?! Rex attacked Mark not that long ago!" Saph exclaimed.
"Yeah! Why would people follow him?!" Mark cried out.
"Well he is really strong and he has a lot of people following him. If we give him the right intentions and mindset he could help round people up!" Cry defended his decision.
"That's actually not a bad idea. If people see that we're backing him up I think we have a chance here." Ken added.
"Ok so it's decided then. We'll try and get Rex and his followers on our side." Adam concluded. Saph and Mark had a worried expression on their faces, but they didn't protest.
"So who's gonna go talk to him?" Jerome asked and everyone looked away.
"Well, I guess I'll do it then…" Ken said with a sigh and stood up "Wish me luck…" he added as he walked away.
Hey guys! Unfortunately, this story is coming to an end pretty soon. Expect at two or three more chapters for this story. In the mean time, I've decided that after this story I'm either going to continue my MarkxCry story or write a new humor-based story in Minecraftia with some Minecraft Youtubers. Remember to tell me your suggestions in the reviews or PM me your ideas! Love you guys! Bye!
