Hai guys! Welcome to the not so end of the story! The reason I say that is I'm going to split the last battle into two parts since it's so long. So here's the first part! Enjoy! (Warning: There are many feels ahead)
Saph's heart thumped rapidly in her chest as she surveyed the center courtyard. As far as she could tell, everyone was in their positions. She spotted Marzia, Minx, Felix, and others crouched on the roofs ready to attack. Countless recruits were scattered among the other students, including Mark, Cry, Adam, Ty, Mitch, Jerome, Yami, and Ken. Please let them stay safe… Saph prayed to the universe. It was nearly noon and Saph had a feeling that soon everything was going to change…for better or for worse.
A shouting cry snapped Saph back to reality. Focusing back on the crowd of people, she observed a line of people all wearing cloaks step forward from the shadows. A familiar face stood apart from the others… Sebastian. He was standing in front of the blank figures, leading them to battle. Only when they finally reached the edge of the center courtyard did they halt. Sebastian raised his head and raked his gaze across the crowd of horrified and confused people.
"ATTACK!" Sebastian bellowed, raising his arm in a pointing position. The Order members rid themselves of their cloaks and charged. A sea of screaming, enraged Order members came crashing upon the students, but not before the resistance members ran back at them. In an instant the courtyard fell into discord and chaos. Masses of bodies writhed against each other before coming to their senses.
Felix's POV
It was unlike anything I've ever seen, even in video games. Flurries of people kicking, punching, and occasionally shooting fireballs overtook the clearing in what seemed like an instant. I scanned the clearing to try and find my friends before *gulp* its too late. I can see Mitch and Jerome kicking some ass, as expected. I can see a huge bear, who I assume is Ken, swiping everyone it meets with it's huge paws. Yami was using his powers to sock people with shards of ice who didn't get hit with Ken's claws until they fell to the ground with pain.
Then I saw something that made my heart stop in it's tracks. A random Order member had pinned Ty on the ground and held a sword above his head. The man laughed maniacally and Ty yelled for help. Without thinking, I charged up my hands and shot a ball of flame straight at the Order member. It hit him directly in the side and he barreled over in pain. Ty mouthed 'thanks' to me before summoning a neon green energy sword and jumped back into the battle. All of the people on the roofs worked together to aim attacks at the Order members who were winning fights. As I expertly aimed shots into the crowd, I thought I just hope that this plan will work…
Mitch's POV
With my back to Jerome and my hands clenched in a fist, I ducked and dodged the attacks that were hurled at me. Once I got one Order member unbalanced, I would land a few hits in them before repeating the process. I could hear Jerome behind me; his heavy breathing and occasional battle cries filled my ears and fueled my attacks. It seemed as if time itself had melted away, sometimes and instant felt like an eternity and sometimes it felt as if it was moving too fast. I don't know how long it was, but eventually I heard a familiar yet distance shriek behind me. I turned gasped in horror as I saw an Order member with his sword digging into Jerome's right shoulder. He instantly fell to the ground as the sword was retracted from his body.
"JEROME!" I screamed, kicking the sword out of the man's hand and watching it fall into the grass dotted with Jerome's blood. Ears ringing and vision tainted with red, I picked up the sword and sliced the man across the neck, not even looking as he felt to the ground. I crouched down next to Jerome and propped his head up.
"J-Jerome?" I stuttered, not sure of what to do.
"I-It's ok buddy, *cough* It's just a scratch." Jerome smiled weakly, trying to hide the pain he was feeling. But I could see through his charade, he never was a good liar.
"I'm going to move you away from the fight." I said, actually trying to reassure myself more than him. I put his arm around my back and latched onto his healthy shoulder. I half carried, half dragged him away from the clearing and towards one of the miscellaneous students standing on the sidelines. Jerome groaned as I placed him down with his back to the brick wall. His shoulder was bad…really bad. Almost half his entire shirt was soaked with his crimson blood and I was almost sent into a panic. No I thought to myself I have to keep him calm.
"Mitch, go back into the fight. I'll be fine. This guy here" Jerome motioned his head to the man standing horrified behind Mitch "he'll take care of me."
"Jerome…but I can't just leave you here!" My eyes started to water.
"You have to finish this…I'll… just stay here. And after this you owe me a win in the Hunger Games." He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall, a clear smirk on his face.
"Jerome, you're one stupid, crazy, amazing guy. But most of all, you're my best friend." I began to lose it and leaned in to hug my injured friend.
"And you're my best friend. Just don't do anything too crazy biggums." Jerome chuckled with a glint of humor in his brown eyes.
"No promises" I whispered in his ear before pulling back and rejoining the battle.
Cry's POV
It's only been a few minutes since the battle began and I'm already fed up with this William character. Since we're the last hope for our cause we have to stick together, but it doesn't help that Will's powers are utterly useless in hand-to-hand combat. Because of this I have to be the one to protect him with my force fields while also fending off Order members with my invisibility power. The man that I'm protecting is just standing there like a complete idiot instead of helping and it's infuriating me! Well, at least that's helping me fight. I took a look around the battlefield to see that the two groups are tied and wonder how long we can keep this up.
Saph's POV
Everything was a blur, just a constant cycle of morphing into countless animals and taking down even more Order members. Stopping for a second to catch my breath, I decided to take a quick look around the battlefield. We were at a stalemate; neither side was quite ahead of the other. It's still anyone's game I took a mental note before checking on the rooftops. My heart jumped as soon as I spotted Sebastian peeking over the edge of one of the buildings, hiding from the fight. I morphed into a hawk and soared from behind him. As I reached the roof I turned back into my human form.
"COWARD!" I screeched and he whipped his head around.
"Greetings…have you come to watch the show as well? It's a little thing I like to call 'The First Conquest of the Order'" he smiled slyly.
"We'll never lose to you! Not now, not ever! It all ends here!" I yelled, my confidence growing astronomically.
"On the contrary…this is only the beginning of Operation Tarot." He swished his hand and a wave of fire came raging at me. With quick reflexes I morphed into an eagle and dodged the attack before turning back into a human.
"You won't get rid of me that easily." I snarled.
"Don't worry, I've got something better in store for you, Sapphire." He spat my name and closed his eyes. Swirls of blue fire began to gather around his form. The flame continued to gather until it was as tall as four of me. I could see wings and feathers form from the huge blue fire until it had created a huge bird composed of flame! A phoenix! It made one ear-splitting cry before diving at me. My mind was completely blank as the beast hurled itself at me. I covered my face with my arms and waited for death to come…
Mark's POV
The battle has been raging on for quite a while now and I still don't feel right about things. The resistance and the Order are at a clear stalemate, but I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach and I don't like it. As I punched the nearest Order member to the ground, a light emitting from one of the rooftops grabbed my attention. Pausing briefly, I saw that a huge blue bird made of fire was hovering atop of the building! My heart stopped when I spotted Saph standing only a few feet away from it, her eyes were wide in shock. Oh no… I inwardly groaned and morphed into a small bird and tore through the air to reach her in time. The huge phoenix hurled itself at her with speed unlike anything I've seen before. Saph held her arms over her face and screamed with fear. Not knowing what else to do, I flung myself in between the two of them and then everything went black.
Nothing, nothing was all I felt. I heard nothing, felt nothing, I couldn't even tell if I was upside down or not. When I opened my eyes I found myself surrounded in churning water. My nightmare! I yelled in my head. It's really happening! I just hope that it doesn't end the same way it always does. I tried to swim to the surface, but I felt as if I wasn't going anywhere. When I opened my eyes wider to pear into the "ocean" I saw the wavy outlines of people on the other side! I'm in a bubble! I need to get out before I drown! I began to panic as my air supply was running thin and I flailed around (completely forgetting about my powers). Slowly, darkness began to gather in my peripheral vision and everything was beginning to seem hopeless. I'm so sorry everyone that I couldn't make it. I'm sorry Yami for not being able to make videos with you anymore. I'm sorry Wade, Bob, and all my old friends. I'm so sorry mom, at least there's a chance that I'll see dad again. Saph… I'm so sorry that I won't be there for you…I love you. I thought my last words before the blackness would overtake me. Without warning, all the water around me fell to the ground and I was released from my liquid prison. I gasped and sputtered, trying to regain my breath, not paying attention to what was going on around me. Despite almost drowning, my entire body felt like it was on fire. I probably got burned pretty badly. I closed my eyes before a female scream woke me out of my daze. Saph! I looked to my right to see Saph standing over a girl that had a huge scratch mark across her chest. The girl fell to the ground and groaned in pain.
"S-Sa-Sa…" I tried to formulate the name that I loved so much and failed. She turned around and ran over to me.
"Mark! You're burned!" She gasped and grabbed my hand "Don't you do anything like that ever again!" Saph had salty tears running down her face. Before I could respond, a voice rang through the fighting.
"Brothers and sisters! Our great leader Sebastian has fallen! We must win this fight in his memory and complete Operation Tarot!" I looked behind Saph to see Sebastian's bloody corpse lying on the ground. Looking to the source of the outburst my heart jumped for the fourth time that day…the voice was coming from Jake. But what disturbed me even further was that his eyes were a deep red and foam frothed from his mouth. The instant he stopped his speech, he rejoined the fighting. Never have I seen a man slash and take down so many people in my life. They must have injected him with the Ultra S7 formula! I heard Saph gasp in horror. The battle had turned around in an instant. The Order members began to fight with more ferocity (If that was possible) and bodies began to fall to the ground. I had a feeling that they weren't the bodies of Order members either.
"Go" I whispered to Saph "Go and end this."
"But what'll happen to you?!" Saph nearly yelled.
"I'll be fine Saph, just go on without me." I wheezed.
"Bu-"
"Just trust me." I stated, my voice beginning to clear up. Saph nodded solemnly in response. She leaned down and kissed me. After what seemed like not enough time, she pulled away.
"I love you Mark." She smiled.
"I love you Saph." I smiled back, strength gathering in my heart. We stared into each other's eyes for a few moments longer before she ran off into the fight.
Hope you liked it and be prepared for part two and possible an epilogue! See yah later!
