A/N: Sooo I hadn't read the fifth book before I wrote this chapter, so...Magnus and Alec are still together. And they should never have broken up in that book anyway...ugh. Anyway, heads up.
Magnus opened up the door to his apartment with a sigh. "What do you need this time?"
"We need help identifying whether a man who showed up in my house is a demon or a warlock," Clary stated, sounding bored.
"I'm a Go-"
"Shush!" Clary interrupted.
"Sounds like a personal problem," Magnus said. "What could you possibly offer me?"
"Consider the wedding gift that you never intended to give to me and Luke," Jocelyn chimed.
Magnus sighed. "Fine. Come in." He stepped aside from his doorway, and watched as Jocelyn, Luke, Clary, and Mr. Tall-Pants walked in. He closed the door behind them. In a flash of blue sparks, the lights came on, and candles blew out. Alec sat up from a lavish couch, opening his mouth with confusion.
"We'll have to finish up later, darling," Magnus said in Alec's direction. "We've got guests."
Alec turned deep red and slumped back down on the couch.
Clary looked from Magnus to Alec with a confused expression on her face. "Alright, I'm not even going to ask," she said.
Alec grumbled something that sounded a lot like "Good," and turned away from the people in the room.
"Luke, let go of the prisoner," Magnus said boredly. Luke let go of the man carefully, and took a step away from him. "What are you guys calling it?"
"Mr. Tall-Pants," Clary said quickly. "Because he's so tall. And he has only told us that his name is Loki, and that means he's cosplaying...or so Simon says..."
"Alright, Mr. Tall-Pants," Magnus said. "Who are you?" The man opened his mouth, but Magnus held ip his hand. "Let me put a truth spell on you, first..." A polygraph appeared floating in front of Mr. Tall-Pants.
"A truth spell?" Clary said, confused.
"If this man is who he says he is, he is the God of Lies. So, a truth spell wouldn't really work on him. That being said, he's also too dull to know how to get around a human lie detector. Demons would be the same way in most cases. The only problem would be if he was a warlock...which I doubt. We would have hooked up long ago, if that was the case." He winked at Loki. "We'll have to do this the human way." He took a step back from the machine and stared at Loki. "Alright, let's get this started. Mr. Tall-Pants - I do hope you don'y mind me calling you that - is your name Mr. Tall-Pants?"
"Yes," the man said. The lie detector began taking readings, spiking up as Mr. Tall-Pants answered.
"Oooh, we've got a tough cookie here," Magnus said, cat eyes glinting. "Who are you?"
"Loki Laufeyson, apparently originally from Jotunheim, but lived in Asgard for my childhood," the man said. "God of Lies, Mischief, and Deception."
The line remained flat.
"Are you a demon?"
"No." Flat line.
"Are you a warlock?"
"Yes." Line spike.
"Am I cute?"
"Yes." Line spike.
"Damn, I thought you would think I was..."
"Why?" Alec complained. "Am I not enough for you, anymore?"
Magnus sighed. "Honey, you are mine, and I am yours. It was just curiosity."
"Alright..."
"Can we please get back to this interrogation?" Clary interjected. "I would like to know what this man is doing here!"
"Alright, alright, feisty," Magnus said, rolling his eyes. "Why did you come here?"
"I escaped..." Loki said. Flat line.
"And why are you still here?"
"Because I have my eyes set on somebody here, and I want those eyes on me." Flat line.
"What's that supposed to mean?! How are we supposed to learn anything from this man?" Clary asked, frustrated.
"Were you not listening at all?" Magnus asked, raising an eyebrow. "This is Loki of Asgard, and he escaped from something to come here and he fell in love, or something of the sort. He has his eyes on somebody. And he won't leave until he gets attention from that said person."
"But-"
"Shush it, and leave, Shadowhunter," Magnus said. "Unless you want to watch me crawl on top of my boyfriend, and take-"
"M'KAY WE'RE LEAVING." Clary grabbed Loki's arm, and gave a look to Luke and Jocelyn that told them that they better follow or else she was leaving them there to watch whatever Magnus had planned to do to Alec.
They followed her.
And they left.
