Zantanna's POV:
Zantanna stood on the beach at the south end of Artemis's house with Surge. Aqualad had swam underwater to see if there where any troops coming from down below, while Surge and herself stood up on the beach, waiting for the attack that everyone from the mansion seemed to think was coming. Zantanna thought the whole story seemed a little crazy, but you see a lot of crazy stuff in this business. The magician found herself staring at the sunset. It was so beautiful her, much like the spell her father put on her paint brushes so they would dance across the ceiling of their large anchient apartment, leaving bright strokes of color along the dark stained roof. This got the young girl thinking about the wonderful times she and her father had in that apartment, and now how she couldn't even speak to him with out speaking to another person too. She wiped angry tears out of her eyes.
"What's wrong?"
A sweet voice broke her thoughts. The magician turned around. Surge was sitting on a rock braiding her puffy white hair into a complicated braid Zantanna didn't have the name for. The white eye holes of her domino mask glittered in the light.
"Oh, nothing."
Zantanna laughed shakily. Surge stood and did a flying leap of the rock, summersaulted a full two circles in the air, before landing on her feet with the agility of a cat. The tiny energy controlling metahuman brush the imaginary dirt of her deep purple tunic and gave Zantanna this look. It said, I don't believe you.
"I know that voice your using. What happened to your parents?"
The young girl's voice was not confronting, but kind, with wisdom beyond her years laced through her words. Zantanna could only stare.
"How do you know?"
Sapphire shrugged.
"I used the same voice for a year. Sit."
She pointed to the ground. The magician sat, confused, but when Surge's small hands began to move through her hair gently, she understood.
"So, what did you mean by, 'I used that same voice for a year?' "
"When my mom died, everyone in our family took it hard. We all used to talk like that."
"Where's your dad? He's still alive right?"
Zantanna winced, realizing the bluntness of her words. But the gentle hands continued to coax her glossy tress's into a lace braid, as if her words had no effect on the small child.
"Yeah, he's alive, but he works a couple city's away. So he lives with his girlfriend most of the month."
"Wow. I don't think I could take it if I didn't see my dad right after my mom died."
'But I know how you feel about the never seeing him thing.'
She added silently.
"It's okay, I mean we have Arty now, and she's as good as any parent. But her methods are a bit..unorthodox. Yeah that's the word! Unorthodox."
Zantanna then heard Pulse shouting faintly over the hill
"Oh don't you dare go close to your baby brother with those electrical wires! I mean it young man! Put those down, or I will let Sapp have a free go at you! I mean it!"
Sapphire face palmed.
"He got into the wiring again."
She mumbled, her head in her hands.
"And we just got finished fixing the mansion from the last time that happened!"
Zantanna could her the frown in her voice.
"Well, at least you get a free go at him?"
The magician nudged the girls knee with her shoulder.
"Yeah your right. Hehehe..."
The 7 year old chuckled evilly. They fell back into a comfortable silence.
"So, are the stories true?"
The raven haired beauty asked, finally tired of the scilence.
"What stories? Sorry."
Surge apologized when Zantanna screeched a little.
"I mean, owww."
She shook her head.
"Hold still!"
Sapp scolded as she grabbed a lose strand of hair.
"Sorry. I mean all those stories about Artemis. You know, about how kick butt she is and stuff."
Sapphire frowned.
"I know my sister is a butt-kicking master, but she never told us any stories about when she was on the team."
"None at all?"
"Yep. Hair tie."
Zantanna felt down her wrist before pulling off a deep plum elastic. She passed it back over her head.
"She didn't tell you anything?"
The magician pressed.
"Nada. And... done!"
Sapphire smiled triumphantly. Zantanna stood up and stretched out her arms, before reaching back and fingering the curves and cresses of her braid.
"Wow, you are amazing!"
Zantanna told the young girl. She beamed and bowed.
"Thank you, thank you."
Zantanna opened her mouth to say something, when a familiar voice blared in her head.
"guys, we have eyes on the enemie. About 15 amoured robots. They look a lot like the robots the league uses. Exactly like the ones the league uses. You know, the ones so dangerous only Batman is aloud to use them?"
"Shit."
Artemis's POV:
Artemis soared across the sky with Ms. Martian, Suberboy, Rocket, and Spirit. M'gann had just finished sending the telepathic message to the rest of the team, while Superboy and herself watched the large amoured robots march towards her mansion. Her mansion. She grinded her teeth.
"This isn't right."
Conner mumured beside her.
"I know right? I mean, who try's to kidnap their ex-girlfriend and her siblings! Who does that!"
Everyone stared at her.
"What! I have a right to be pissed."
Pulse said defensively. Everyone shrugged and returned to glaring at the machines.
"We need a plan."
Rachel said. The Superboy started to drop towards the ground, landing in the middle of the robots, scattering them everywhere.
"Or we could do that."
Raqhel sighed as she followed him into battle.

The battle was fierce. Artemis and Lekeria attacked from above, picking robots up in Lekeria's talons, throwing them high up into the air, where the poor robot was faced with there ultimate destruction via arrow to the face. Ms. Martian and Rocket had a similar system going. Spirit was trying into a cloud, before slipping through the cracks in the robot amour and destroying it from the inside out. And Superboy was smashing like he was born to which, of course he kind of was.
"Where are the others?"
Pulse shouted as she shot one robot in the head, before stabbing another with a fork made of her dark purple energy without looking.
"They're all being held up at their stations. Where did all these robots come from?"
Rocket shouted back, smashing through a robot that was about to shot Superboy. He turned and nodded slightly at her. They battled on.
The whole fight blurred together. Artemis could vaguely remember later stabbing, flipping, shooting, all in all just being her normal, kick-ass self. Finally the last robot was destroyed.
"Whew."
Spirit whipped the sweat of his face when he landed.
"Ugh."
M'gann collapsed on the ground from over exhilarating her powers. Superboy and Rocket rushed to help her up. Artemis turned away and pressed the small communicator in her ear.
"Surge, report."
"We are all okay here Sergent Snuggles."
"Shut it you."
Artemis growled. She heard giggling on the other end. The archer rolled her eyes.
"Elemant, report."
Elemant, Kid Flash, Thunder, and Robin had been assigned to guard the wood.
"We're all okay over here chief."
Artemis groaned.
"For the last time, stop it with the nicknames! How hard is it to say.. AGHH!"
Pain. Deep, roaring pain in her back. Artemis fell forward onto her face, the world fading into blackness.
Superboy's POV:
How could he be so stupid. He had been looking at M'gann, not at Artemis! If he had, he might have noticed the robot who wasn't done fighting. If he had been watching, he might have noticed the energy blast that ended up hitting his friend. They had just found Artemis. They weren't ready to lose her. Superboy and the rest of the team plus Surge, Spirit, and Thunder were all sitting in the infirmary, waiting for news on Artemis. Ella and the butler Joan where with Artemis. Joan was a medic in the navy, while Ella's powers included healing. Everyone was in kind of a state of shock. Kid Flash was long gone, out for a run along the eastern seaboard. Robin had left for the gym along with Rocket. They both said they needed to punch something. Conner would have gone with them, but some how he got stuck holding the baby. Clay was curled up in a ball under his left arm. Sapphire was sitting in Zantanna's lap, her face buried in the magician neck as her tiny body shook with silent sobs. Zantanna stroked her back, but she looked like she was about to cry to. Damarius was sitting crosslegged in shock. M'gann sat next to him, rubbing his back comfortingly. Aqualad was meditating quietly, probably asking the gods to help Artemis.
Finally the butler came out, before silently moving up the stairs. A few minutes later Ella walked out. She collapsed onto a couch.
"Ellie!"
Damarius got up and rushed over.
"Are you okay? Is Arty? What happened? What did.."
He was silenced by a finger on his lips.
"A. I'm fine. is stable, but she will have to stay in bed for a few days."
"She's not going to like that."
A new voice spoke up near the stairs. Everyone's heads whipped around. A young woman wearing a Jade colored wrap around top with denim jean shorts and leather saddles stood in the door way.
"Aunt Jade!"
Damarius and Sapphire flew over to her and wrapped her in a huge hug. Clay stirred in Kon's arms, and openned his eyes lazyily but when he saw the woman he began straining get out of the young Krptontion's grip. Laughing, she swooped over and plucked the baby from his arms and proceeded to kiss him all over his face.
"Who are you."
Superboy stood up and got into a defensive stance along with Aqualad. Clay wrapped his arms around 'Jade's' neck protectively. Aquald steped forward, intent on grabbing the baby when a familiar voice spoke from the shadows.
"Please keep your hands of my wife."
A young red-head stepped out and wrapped his arms around the woman's waist. Everyone on the team stared. Then, as one they all screamed,
"ROY?!"
Plot twist! What's going to happen next? You tell me. Really, I've hit a writers block.
*holds up a huge rock*
See?

Shit! My foot! Ow ow ow ow ow...
Anyway, enjoy!
