Soooo…..I know it's been like years since I've updated…literally. And I am so sorry. I didn't even realize people were still finding this story out there! I had a lot of really good ideas for this story and I kind of just let it get away from me because of all my school work. So I decided that I'm going to try to continue with it. I can't promise how often new chapters will be added but I'm going to try my hardest not to keep you all in suspense like I have been! So, ready or not, here I go.

A Blast from the Past
Kagome sat on the floor of her room looking through her photo album and putting in all the new pictures she had taken over the last couple weeks and all the ones from the past. The differences between them were pretty astounding. Especially the changes in her. Not only in her appearance but in the way she carried herself, the way she smiled more openly and confidently, and the way that Edward looked at her. Every time she came across a picture of them when he was looking at her instead of the camera look her breath away.
The last two weeks were some of the best times Kagome could remember. Having her family from the past and her new family all together in one place was more than she could ever ask for. Well not more exactly as there were a few key members missing. Having everyone from the past over made it glaringly obvious the people that were missing from it and more and more was she thinking about them. Although it did not diminish the growing love she felt for her new vampire family. She had never connected with people from her own time as much as she did with them…which was funny because they weren't exactly from this time!
She shook her head with a smile and put the album away. She really had to get ready for school and all this day dreaming was getting in the way! So she pushed away her thoughts and got dressed in her favorite red Guess skinny pants, a black v-neck shirt, and black combat boots. She through on her black leather jacket, grabbed her purse and met Sota at the bottom of the stairs.
"Jeeeez what were doing up there? Writing your will?" he complained as she approached.
"Ha ha very funny, just putting pictures in my album, now come on we're going to be late." She countered and headed out the door with her brother close on her heels.
"So it was pretty great meeting everyone you talked about from the past." Sota commented
"Yeah it was really nice to see all of them again. Maybe next time we can all go visit them. I'd love to see where Sessh lives. Probably in some ridiculous mansion." Kagome laughed.
"Yeah…wish Inuyasha could have been there…"
"Me too Sota…me too." Kagome sighed. They drove the rest of the way in contemplative silence as Kagome whipped to school to make it in time. Edward was waiting be his car when they arrived.
"Hey you." He said pulling her into a kiss. Sota made a gagging noise and loped off to class as Kagome made a swipe at him.
"Anything interesting planned for today?" Kagome asked as they walked hand in hand to their first class.
"Oh the usual dynamic of high school. Apparently there will be some new students joining us though, according to the thoughts of the staff." He informed lightly.
"Oh high school, how could it ever get more exciting?" She laughed and they headed into their first building and took their seats.
At lunch the Higurashi's and Cullen's were sitting at their usual table talking and laughing about the week's events. One particular story about Sesshoumaru getting his butt kicked in Mario Cart and his poor loser-ship seemed to be a favorite. They all took turns mimicking his "trying-not-to-pout-face," something very unlike the demon lord. Kagura later filled them in that in all his years he had never been beaten at something so publicly.
It was amidst this conversation that Kagome suddenly felt chilled down to the bone. She felt an aura she could never forget if she lived a million years. Followed by two others equally as familiar. She looked up and her eyes locked on the individuals who just walked into the cafeteria. Before anyone, including herself, knew what she was doing she was up and out of her seat, moving across the room at a barely human pace until she was almost nose to nose with the person leading the procession.
"N-no…it's…not possible…" She whispered, staring into those eyes. She started to reach out her hand shakily to touch the now frightened person's face before coming to her senses and backing away, frightened. "No…it can't…" and suddenly she was out the cafeteria door and running before anyone could respond to her strange behavior.
Edward immediately tried to go after her but was stopped by Sota's hand on his arm.
"Let her go man. She's obviously shaken and needs to be alone. She'll be ok." He said to the confused vampire but he too was looking toward the door with concern.
Kagome ran and ran deep into the woods and up into the mountains before she was finally overcome with emotion and fell to her knees in the snow.
"I…I don't understand what's happening…why here? Why now? It's not fair!" She shouted and was enveloped in a blinding white light. When she blinked her eyes into focus she was standing in some never ending white void. "What's going on?"
"Please, Kagome, calm down. I'm right here. I will explain everything." A voice said and Midoriko appeared before her.
"Lady Midoriko!" Kagome said bowing. "How are you here right now?"
"The jewel once again lives inside you, therefore, I am always with you."
"Please, Midoriko, tell me whats going on. Those people couldn't be who I think they are…" She said with emotion thick in her voice. "I just lost them…I'm not ready for this…"
"I know it is hard Kagome, but it is the truth. Those truly are the souls of Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha reincarnated." Midoriko said with sympathy.
"But why? Why so close to me?"
"Because the Kami's have foreseen another great evil and they believe the best people to defeat it are the warriors who battled the evil Naraku." Midoriko explained.
"What great evil?" Kagome asked, instantly alert.
"It seems there are is an individual who is working on creating an army of demons turned vampires. He happened upon a demon by accident and bit him intending to suck out his blood, thinking he was human, but the demon fought him off so the vampire was intrigued and let the change happen. The result was an extremely powerful creature. With the abilities of a demon and vampire combined." Midoriko informed her gravely.
"Oh my, that sounds terrible!" Kagome gasped.
"Yes. So it was decided that the great Inu tashi of the past must be restored to help save the world once again from evil."
"But Lady Midoriko, you said it yourself, in the past they were strong warriors, now they're just ordinary human teenagers! They would only be killed!" Kagome said in a panic.
"Not if you train them. There was a special arrangement made by the Kami's for this situation. Within the souls their basic instincts and skills are ingrained in them. You must only break the seal on them. Their knowledge of fighting resides within them and once it is broken you can nurture and train them."
"Wait…so will Miroku's reincarnate have the wind tunnel?!" Kagome asked with fear. She would never wish that on someone, seeing as they worked so hard to rid him of it.
"The Kami's did think it would be useful but they have altered it of course so it will not threaten his life like it did Miroku's." Midoriko explained and Kagome breathed a sigh of relief.
"Will they…will they remember who I am?" Kagome asked with timid hope and Midoriko smiled sadly.
"Not exactly. But your souls are still connected and will feel a deep connection with you as they did in the past. Inuyasha's however…is a little different." Midoriko said with a sigh.
"How do you mean?"
"Since he must weird Tetsusaiga which is a demon fang, you will not be able to properly teach him the techniques. So…once you break the seal on his soul, he will live inside the boy, able to appear in physical form. He will also be able to converse with the boy freely, much like having another person live inside you, Kami help that boy." Midoriko said running a hand through her raven locks.
"So you're saying…I'll actually be able to see Inuyasha again…" Kagome whispered, shocked and Midoriko nodded. "I see…wow…"
"I know it is much to take in. But please, you must hasten to break the seals and begin their training. Time is of the essence. There is no telling when evil will strike." Midoriko said and slowly started to fade from view, bringing Kagome back to consciousness on the mountain top. It was well after dark by now and Kagome raced home.
She didn't feel like answering all the questions she knew her mom and brother would ask if she walked through the front door so she hopped up onto her balcony and entered her room that way, knowing they would take the hint. She could tell immediately that Edward was there sitting in the dark.
"Hi Edward." She sighed "I'm sorry about running away like that…" She felt strong arms come around her and inhaled his wonderful scent.
"I wish I knew what that was all about. It was as if you knew them…" He trailed off curiously.
"Well…I did…kind of." And she told him everything Midoriko told her. He listened patiently, not interrupting once, until her story was finished.
"Carlisle will want to know about this. Perhaps he can find out more information from his friends and contacts." He then left to see Carlisle and promised to be back as soon as possible.
She in the meantime went into her closet and hit the button that opened up a secret compartment she had discovered while her family was visiting. Inside were the gifts that Sesshourmaru had left her with. Things he saved for a very long time for her. Who knew they would once again be in use. Sango's giant boomerang, Miroku's prayer beads and hand wrap, and the rusty katana that is Tetsusaiga. She touched these all gingerly, silently sending up a prayer that everything would turn out well.
Well, there it is! My first updated chapter in a long long time! I really hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! I can't wait to get to the next chapter! Ta ta for now, lovelies!
