"Jodes, stop crying, its okay. No one's angry at you." Zoe said softly.
"Not the point though is it." She replied.
"I know that sweetie, but you know we're all only upset that it came to this again, sweetheart, if you'd called on me, I'd have sat with you for hours! It didn't need to come to this! Thats all, stop crying sweetie, whats done is done, we just need to move on, and try extra hard not to do it again. Your dad and I love you very much you know."
"I know." She wiped her eyes and looked up at Zoe. "I want to go home." She said.
"Well, you can't just now sweetie, you lost too much blood yesterday, you won't be allowed out until tomorrow at least. Your BP is too low, remember?" She replied, sadly.
"Yeah, well, I guess I don't care. I want to go home mum." She said. Zoe felt awful for her.
"I'm sorry darling, but you can't." Jody sighed.
"Where's dad?" She asked.
"He's down in his office with Eilidh. Do you want me to call him, get him to come up?" She asked.
"Can you?" Jody replied.
"Yeah, give me two seconds." She stood, whipped out her mobile and speed dialled Nick.
"Zoe." He answered.
"Hi, can you come up now?" She said.
"Yeah sure. Should I bring Eilidh or leave her with Tess?"
"Leave her with Tess."
"Okay, I'll be up in a moment."
"Okay." So she hung up. "He's on his way." She said, turning back to Jody. Jody just nodded.
"He'll kill me." She said.
"No he won't Jodes. He's worried, there's no doubt about that, but he's not angry. No one is. Please, you need to understand that."
"Mm." Silence fell. Zoe didn't know what to do, or say, nothing seemed to be enough to get them out of this horrid situation. Minutes passed, and eventually, Nick entered the room. Immediately, Jody turned her head to the floor, dreading meeting his face.
"Hi." Zoe said. She was extremely worried about Jody's behaviour.
"Hi." He replied, awkwardly, sensing Jody's hesitance. "Everything okay?" Zoe nodded. "Jodes?" He asked. She didn't move her head, however, she replied with a simple,
"Mm." He sighed.
"Jody don't be like this. Look at me sweetheart." He said. Sadly, she lifted her eyes from the floor and turned to face him. He smiled sadly. Another look that killed her.
"I need to go to the toilet." She said.
"Okay sweetie, I'll take you." Slowly, because Jody was dizzy and quite faint from the low BP, she helped her up out of the bed and carried the saline bag with her to the toilet down the corridor.
"Can you manage?" Zoe asked, at the entrance to the cubicle.
"Yeah." So she handed the saline bag to Jody and allowed her to go in by herself. She did, however, wait by the door. "Mum?" Jody asked.
"Yes?"
"Can you please go get me a pad? Please?" She asked.
"Sure. Stay where you are, I'll be back in a minute."
"Okay." She waited until she'd heard the door shut and then exit the cubicle. She padded over to the door, pulled it open ever so slightly and watched Zoe disappear round a corner. Once Zoe was definitely out of sight, she opened the door and made her way, as fast as her dizziness would allow her, to the nearest elevator and managed to slip into it unseen. She exited the elevator on the top floor and headed for the stairs to the roof. Slowly, tiredly and dizzily, she made her way up the stairs. A difficult task seeing as they seemed to be moving around beneath her feet. Eventually, she reached the top and dragged herself out on to the roof. Sighing, she sat down on the cold concrete, glad to be alone. Although, there was one person that she was longing to see. Quickly, she took out her phone and rang them.
"Hello?"
"Hello Granny. Its Jody." She said.
"Oh hello sweetheart, how are you?"
"Not good Granny." She replied.
"Well whats happened?" The old woman asked, concerned.
"I'm in hospital again. They won't let me out. I just want to come home!" She began to cry. "I mean, I know its my fault I'm in here, but still." She said, allowing her gran to catch on fairly quickly.
"Oh sweetie. Where are your parents?" She asked.
"I left them. They're on the ward. I couldn't stand the sad, pitiful looks so I ditched. I'm on the roof. Please don't tell them, I really just need a break from those looks." She said.
"I won't sweetie, but I am coming." She said.
"Okay Granny, I guess I'll see you when you get here." She said. "Love you."
"Love you too. Don't you go anywhere now!" She said, and they hung up. Jody placed her phone down beside her and then lay down, allowed exhaustion to take over her and slept.
