Magnolia Pt.2

"That's enough of that, young lady." She spun around to locate my voice as I shattered the spear in my fist. When I unwrapped myself, golden flames spiraling away from me, she stumbled backward in surprise. I lashed out at her with a stream of golden fire, catching her as she tripped over one of the sitting logs. "Um... thanks?" She said in confusion as I righted her. "Better watch yourself. You almost fell onto the fire." "But the fire is frozen solid." She said in yet more confusion. "And what do you suppose would happen if the ice didn't break?" Will interposed. "Oh. I see your point." The girl conceded. "So. Who are you and what are you doing here?" I asked. "My name is Kira. And as for what I'm doing, I was trying to find food. I haven't eaten in a few days." "And why is that?" I asked, slightly concerned. "If I'm going to be interrogated, can I at least eat first?" She held up the fish she had picked up. Will and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes. "Oh, fine. Go ahead." With a soft moan of pleasure, Kira sank onto a log and proceeded to sate her hunger. Will and I also sat, watching her eat. "Would you stop watching me? It's kinda creepy." She suddenly said. Will and I glanced at each other, then pointedly looked away from the young girl. "That better?" I asked sarcastically. "Much." Kira replied, equally sarcastic. -30 minutes later- When Kira finished eating, she looked up, only to see Will crashed on a log. I was nowhere to be seen. The cats were also sleeping on a log. Even in sleep, they fought. The gold one jostled the silver one off the log, the cat rolling dangerously close to the fire. A soft chuckle drew Kira's eyes upwards, to the top of a tall oak tree. There she spotted me, straddling a branch and watching the cat's struggle. When Kira waved her hand at me, I looked down at her in confusion. I thought she was going to sleep after eating so much food. I jumped down from my high perch, landing softly like a cat in front of her. She started slightly, then glared at me. "Don't do that! I nearly jumped out of my skin." she exclaimed. "Really? It looked like you barely jumped an inch." I said sardonically. "Well you know what? You can stuff it." she snarled. "OK. I will." I grabbed a fish from the pile and proceeded to stuff it in my mouth. "I barely got time to eat before you showed up." I said through my mouthful of food. Despite her apparent anger at me, Kira giggled at this. "You know? I think we could get along fine. Me and the rest of your little group." With that, Kira lived up to my expectations and promptly fell asleep. "I agree. But I think your life story will have to wait until morning." I quietly whispered. I jumped back into my oak tree perch and kept watch the entire night.
