Sadly still not mine!
Sherlock knew something was going on he just didn't know what it was and that in itself was half the problem. He always knew what was going on, he didn't like that he couldn't work out something as simple as, what John Watson was keeping from him.
He didn't like that his mind was not working at full capacity, he had to get out of here and work out what he was keeping from him, even if it was something as stupid as him hiding a new girlfriend from him. He had to get out of here. He had to know if he was missing something or if his mind really was playing tricks on him. He didn't like that thought, he needed his mind. He always said he would never allow that to happen and now it was. He couldn't rely on what his mind and instincts were telling him and it was a terrifying realisation, one he had to rectify immediately.
He buzzed for a nurse to come in to detach the electrodes glued to his head so he could get out.
"Yes Mr Holmes what can I get you?" she asked nervously. She found Sherlock and his brother slightly intimidating.
"No need to look quite so nervous, it is a simple enough request even you can handle it," he stated.
"Oh, right, and what might that be," she asked with a slight edge to her tone. She didn't know why she was surprised by Sherlock's cutting words. His attitude and ability was infamous in the hospital and from the stories she'd heard his comments had been bordering on polite.
"Take these electrodes off my head and get a doctor to get me my discharge papers I need to get out of here now," he stated.
"Sir, I really don't think that is the best idea," she said carefully.
"Well I do and of the two of us I am much more qualified so would you kindly do as I ask, please," he added as an afterthought.
"I, I'm just going to fetch a doctor, he will help you I'll be back in a moment," she said quickly exiting the room.
"Sherlock, stop being foolish, must you really terrorise the staff every time you are here?" Mycroft asked as he walked into the room.
"Why are you still here, I told you to go," Sherlock snapped.
"You know I don't," Mycroft answered.
"And you know how much I hate it," Sherlock hissed.
"Even so," Mycroft said with a shrug.
"Get out of my way, I need to go," Sherlock said coldly.
"That really isn't the best idea, I thought we had agreed you were going to do this properly this time Mr Holmes," his doctor said coming into the room.
"That is what I have been trying to tell him, perhaps you can talk some sense into him," Mycroft said wearily.
"Do not speak about me like I am a child," Sherlock stated.
"Then do not act like one, you said you were going to do this properly this time and actually get yourself healthy why are you resisting again? Why can't you just do what we know needs to be done," Mycroft demanded.
"Why do you care? Don't you have some dull government issue to contain yourself with?" Sherlock asked.
"Hard though it may be for you to believe Sherlock I worry about you," Mycroft answered for which Sherlock rewarded him with a dirty look.
"You need to let us do this sir, you need to give us a few days to work with you to get your epilepsy back under control," the doctor said firmly. The issue had been neglected far too long. Sherlock glared at the doctor he hated these sessions but he needed his mind back at its best.
"I had a session recently to change my medication. Why are you so incompetent that you could not have it sorted by now?" Sherlock demanded.
"You know it takes a while to get the dosage correct that is why there are always follow on appointments and why it takes longer for us to get your dosage correct as you continue to ignore this," the doctor said.
Sherlock didn't like admitting he was wrong but he knew he had to let the doctors do this so he could get back to work. He needed his mind back on full alert, he wondered if this was how ordinary people felt, if it was he didn't know how they could stand it.
"Finally, you really do make things much harder than they need to be, now you really should get some rest, trust me you will need it, for later," Mycroft said hesitantly.
"Why what's happening later?" Sherlock asked ignoring the first part of his comment, for now.
"You really are starting to worry me brother dear, you are not normally this slow," Mycroft said with a slight smile.
"Stop showing off and tell me what you are talking about, what have you done?" Sherlock asked hating that he was not able to work this out for himself, it was unsettling him far more than he let show.
"It's not anything I've done little brother, you will see it all soon when your mind clears from all the work they have being doing on you because for some reason they want your mind to remain exactly as it is. However I fear there isn't time to wait for that to happen," Mycroft responded grimly.
"What do you mean?" Sherlock asked.
Mycroft sighed he didn't like how easily this seemed to be falling into place for Moriarty. How worryingly easy it was to strike and bring down Sherlock when he was at his weakest and in the way he would hate most. He hated how perfect it was and how irresistible it would be to him. "Mycroft?" Sherlock demanded breaking through his thoughts and worries of how unlike himself Sherlock was and how much easier and satisfying it would be to Moriarty to fully ruin and humiliate Sherlock in the way he would hate most.
"Moriarty," Mycroft said simply he had to think, he couldn't leave his brother alone in this. Hard though it was to believe he did care about him.
Sherlock frowned he told Mycroft to leave him, he needed to speak to his doctor alone, he had to ask him the question he had put off asking for years.
