Chapter 16
Thank you so much for the reviews! Please keep them coming I really want to know that you are reading this and what you think of the story. I am sorry about how long it took me to update this but I've had a pretty tough time lately. My grandma is currently really ill and we are not sure what is going to happen at the moment. On a slightly lighter note, I got Sherlock season three today so have spent the day rewatching the full season, a good day in my opinion! I also posted a humorous Sherlock oneshot a little different for me so I'd really appreciate it if you checked that out and left me a review to let me know what you think. Shameful plugging over on with the story, where things are really starting to kick off!
Disclaimer
Sadly still not mine but I have season 3 on DVD so I guess that's good enough for now!
Sherlock's menacing eyes met the doctor's as he again pressed for an answer. "Well?" he asked evenly. He needed an answer. Why did doctors insist on filling any information they gave with empty words and phrases that did nothing but prevent the time it took to get the information that mattered. He failed to see how it helped anybody.
You know that you are not alone in this. There are people who want to help you, friends, family, staff here all want to help you, let us help you Sherlock. You don't have to deal with this alone.
Medicine is developing everyday. Who knows what the future will bring.
How did these phrases help anybody? All he wanted was an answer to his question. "Will this impact on my ability to work or limit my mind in anyway?" Sherlock asked again as the doctor was taking too long to answer.
He had avoided asking this question for years as he didn't want to know the answer but now he had to know. And he wanted to know now.
"No sir it wont if you stop neglecting the condition the way you have. You need to start taking better care of yourself. There are changes that you have to make if you don't want this to have any impact on your life. You need to start eating and sleeping properly and stop avoiding your check ups with us. The check ups allow us to keep on top of your medication to ensure it is working properly for you so any minor changes can be made before you lose control of your epilepsy the way you have," the doctor said firmly.
Sherlock frowned but forced himself to nod. He knew the doctor was right. His mind felt clearer and sharper than it had in a while. He didn't want to feel that slip again but sleeping and eating during a case wasted such valuable time and would have negative impacts on how he worked.
"You need to listen to us this time Sherlock," the doctor said cutting through his thoughts.
"How did you?" Sherlock began in confusion.
"Don't be ridiculous I don't know what you are thinking I have just worked with you long enough to know how you are with your work. I am warning you now Sherlock you have to change that if you want things to remain as they are at the moment," she warned.
"When can I get out? Can't be long now that you have established that my condition is under control and that my medication is correct. I have also gained five pounds, which if results in any of my clothing not fitting I shall be sending a bill to this hospital for new clothing," he said coolly. He knew he shouldn't be wasting time arguing with the doctor but he really couldn't help himself, he really didn't like doctors, well apart from one but he didn't count, not in that way at least.
"You can leave today, but as I have said it is vital that you listen to what we have told you, and the weight you have gained is just enough to move you to a slightly healthier weight, though we would like to see you gain a little bit more but it is a start at least," she said.
Sherlock shot her a dirty look as she left the room. When he was alone he got up and dressed getting his coat, gloves and scarf on. He was back and he had to get to work.
He pulled his phone out to phone John frowning as he saw it was out of charge. Was Mycroft really that useless that he didn't think to make sure his phone remained charged.
He strode into the corridor meeting Mycroft. "Give me your phone," he demanded as they walked towards the exit.
"You know I can't give you my phone brother mine, my phone is too important. Too many important government issues to put it in your irresponsible hands," Mycroft responded shaking his head.
"You should have ensured my phone was charged and we both know that you have more than one phone so give me one of your phones," Sherlock snapped.
"Why, what do you need it for? You heard the doctors Sherlock you need to go home and rest," Mycroft scolded.
"To make a call, isn't that the main purpose of a phone, and you are one of the heads of our government, no wonder our country is in such a sorry state. Your phone, now please I have something I need to see to," Sherlock said impatiently.
Mycroft sighed but pulled a spare phone out of his pocket tossing it to his brother. "I want it back as soon as you have made your call."
"You will get it back when I am finished," Sherlock snapped.
"After the call, it really is in your best interests not to argue with me Sherlock," Mycroft said calmly.
"Why would that be?" Sherlock snapped.
"I haven't told mummy, about this latest little hospital trip. I am sure you would rather I kept it that way. You know how she worries, how she fusses," he said.
"Fine, just give me your phone I'll give you it back when i'm done," he said acidly. He hated meeting any of his brother's demands but he didn't have the time or patience for his parents' fussing.
"I knew you'd listen to me Sherlock," Mycroft said.
Sherlock shot him a dirty look before dialling.

"Ah, he took his time. I was beginning to think he had abandoned us. How foolish of me, Sherlock never could resist the game, no matter how much he thinks he doesn't want to play," Moriarty said
"Why are you doing this?" John hissed.
"Quiet John, and you know why, but be quiet, you know what happens if you don't do as I say. Now answer the phone, we can't keep Sherlock waiting any longer," Moriarty said with a smile as John hit answer. "You know what to do John."
"Hello?" John asked fighting to keep a steady voice because he knew what would happen if he gave too much away. He knew Sherlock would know something was wrong when he heard his voice. He also knew that was what Moriarty wanted and he hated that all the more.
"John, it's me where are you?" Sherlock asked.
"Sherlock...I...I can't do this anymore, i'm sorry," he said biting his lip.
"What? John, what are you talking about?" Sherlock asked carefully.
"I just, I can't do this anymore Sherlock, i'm sorry. I just, I think it would be best if you stopped contacting me. I've moved my stuff out of the flat when you were in hospital. I'm sorry," he said shutting his eyes against Moriarty's gleeful smile and the tears rapidly filling his eyes threatening to spill over his closed lids.
"John, stop this now and tell me where you are and what is going on," Sherlock said trying to stop his voice from sounding so urgent. John couldn't be doing this he couldn't, he knew John. He wouldn't do this, would he?
"I've just, I've had enough Sherlock, sorry, bye Sherlock," he said making himself disconnect the call.

"Here," Sherlock said tossing the phone back at Mycroft who just managed to catch it as Sherlock strode off.
"Sherlock? Sherlock where are you going, what's going on?" Mycroft asked going after his brother.
"Nothing, just leave me alone!" Sherlock yelled.
"Sherlock, what is going on? Tell me now!"
"Mycroft leave me alone. I mean it just go away and leave me alone," he snarled venom lacing his words as he left Mycroft standing alone outside the hospital.
"Damn you Sherlock," he muttered to his retreating form.

"Very good John, very nice first move. Now time for the next part. I think you are really going to enjoy this Doctor Watson. Well, maybe not but not to worry, I will enjoy this enough for all of us," Moriarty said with a smile.
"Voice mail, well, well he must really care about you John, to go through the trouble of using someone else's phone to call you. Are you sure there is nothing going on between you two?" he asked with a teasing smirk.
"Stop this," John whispered.
"Stop, John why would I stop? I have only just begun. Now do be quiet I have a call to make," Moriarty said.
"Sherlock, hi, it's me! Be a sweetheart and give me a call when you get this, bye!" Moriarty said hanging up. "Now, Doctor Watson, we wait, the game as Sherlock says is on. That really is a stupid saying. He really needs to come up with a new one. Although it might not be necessary, you know in the circumstances.
"Please, please don't do this," John uttered again. He hated how pathetic he sounded but he didn't know what else to do.
"John, stop complaining, it as fun to begin with but now it's getting a little boring. We just need to wait, Sherlock will phone back soon. Don't look at me like that John we both know that he will. Then the fun can really begin," he said with a hysterical chilling laugh.
