15 to 1 Odds - August 23, 2012

Katniss had really never understood betting, but she didn't think 15:1 were good odds. She was pretty sure that meant 15 people were betting she would die for every one that didn't. She threw back her shoulders. Well she would just have to prove them wrong. She tried not to think about what that would mean.

When she had been really little, before Prim was born, she had found a dead rat under her bed. She had screamed so loudly that her mother had thought she was being murdered. Now she murdered those rats herself. But rats were not people.

No. She wouldn't think about it. She had to get home. She promised Prim; she would live. Katniss would not force her sister to watch her die on a screen. She would survive those 15 to 1 odds.
