Chapter 16

I slept last night without a single horrifying dream. I kind of think that Luke being there with me help in some way. Still in a sleepy haze I hear whispers of what I think is concern and entertainment. My eyes slowly open and I see Luke still sleeping by my side with his hand still on my hip. I just want to kiss him awake. But he isn't the only person I see, I can see Jess's horrified face, and I can hear Nico cracking up. I didn't understand at first what they were thinking then I got it, they both wrongfully assumed that Luke and I did "it". When in fact we slept together literally slept the whole night. I sit up and shake Luke awake. He woke up slowly and stretched his arms and finished by placing his hand on the small of my back. Then he opened his eyes and said,

" Good morning Ren. Last night I…"

Jess said,

" You two aren't the only ones in here."

That seemed to snap him out of it, he sat up facing our prosecutors with his hand still on my back. Jess said,

" I can't believe in all of the Gods that you two slept together.!"

I try to defend myself,

" We did not sleep together, at least not what you're thinking."

" Right. And I am supposed to believe that?"

" Like I am supposed to believe that you absolutely hate Nico?"

" I…"

" Clearly you haven't sorted that out."

" I am… pissed at Nico."

I have to say that it took a lot out of her to say the word "pissed". I look over at Luke and we both grin. Time to make some people very uncomfortable, and Luke had the same idea as me. I dive for him and start kissing him and we start to roll around in hopes of make someone screaming out of the room. And sure enough Jess starter running out screaming,

" OH MY GODS! THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!"

Luke and I stopped "screwing around", ha ha pun definitely intended. Nico said,

" That wasn't very nice of you guys."

Luke said,

" Who said we were very nice?"

Nico left, and as soon as he left we started laughing our asses off. Luke went to go get me Jess so we could get ready for the ball. Jess same in with a screwed up face started saying,

" That was awful Ren how could you do that to me?"

" We were just screwing around."

" OH my…"

" Not what I met, we were just trying to get to your innocent mind. It was all a joke."

" But you still slept with him."

" NO. I didn't."

" You swear."

" I swear. Now can we get ready?"

" Yeah."

I got ready fairly quick make up and all. But Jess was having issues with just about everything. After about two hours we were ready Jess walks out and Nico's jaw drops, but Jess clearly doesn't care. When I walked out Luke seemed to relax a lot , but then he said,

" You look amazing."

" Thanks."

I looked over at Jess and said,

" How many weapons do you have on you?"

" Um. None."

" Jess."

" What?"

" You carry weapons at all times."

" Not all of us have a magic bow bracelet."

" I wasn't talking about that."

" Wait, you have more?"

" Yes I have six other weapons on me."

" Where?"

" Not important."

Luke says,

" How do we get there?"

I take the invitation and rip it in half and then the pieces of paper turn into black smoke and wraps around us like a snake. And we reanimate at the party. I say,

" Jess take Nico's arm."

" No."

" Do it now or you are dead."

She took his arm unwillingly, and we walked into the party full of monsters. A cloaked figure announced,

" Ren Stevens and Luke Castellan."

" And Jess Emerson with Nico DiAngelo."

We wander around the part uneasily because we are the only demigods. And you can tell that they were all thinking about killing us. Then Prometheus appeared out of nowhere and said,

" Let the first dance begin!"

Luke took my hand and we began dancing. We would pass Nico and Jess every so often and every so often we would hear them arguing. Luke said,

" Do you think they will ever get past this?"

" Honestly? Yes, but I think it will take a long time."

Before Luke could continue Prometheus cam over and said,

" May I cut in?"

Luke said,

" Sure. Just don't kill her."

" Not planning to Luke. But I will if you provoke me."

So Prometheus and I danced for a while and said,

" Why do you want the plate piece?"

" You know why so don't pull that shit on me."

" Very touchy today aren't you."

" Just tell me what I have to do."

" Why do you think that I want you to do something."

" Because you are all the same, and you especially want me to learn something in a way that will entertain you."

" Fine we will skip the formalities and I will tell you what I want."

" That will be very nice thank you."

" I want you to kill some one for me?"

" Who or what is it?"

" Starts with R and rhymes with tick."

" Oh that will be easy for me. Killing Rick is something that I left unfinished."

" Don't think too fast."

" Why not?"

He leaned toward my ear and whispered like a snake,

" Because he is your uncle."

And then we evaporated, Jess, Nico, Luke and I, had seen our surrounding change from a lavish party to a dark old house with moss growing on it. The house belonged to the man I was going to kill, Rick, my uncle.
