Chapter 17

I can't believe it, it isn't true. I can't be related to that psycho. I can't be. Before realized it Luke was shaking me to snap me out of it he said, " Ren! REN! What is going on? Where are we? REN!"

"What?"

" Where are we?"

" At Rick's."

" Why are you so freaked out? What did Prometheus say to you?"

" He said that I am Rick's niece."

" That's impossible."

" WHY DO YOU THINK I LIVED THE LONGEST!"

" What do you mean?"

" No foster kid stayed there for more than two months, they all "ran away". I stayed for eight!"

" Then why wouldn't he tell you?"

" Because he likes to watch people in pain, my pain is being alone."

" Why did Prometheus send us here?"

" He wants me to kill him. He wants me to learn a lesson."

" What lesson?"

" Is it right to kill someone that is your own blood? He is trying to see if I have that moral."

" How could you? You never been around your own blood."

" That's the point Luke. Do I kill him because of what he did or I don't because he is all I have."

" Ren you know that he isn't all you have. You have Jess, you have Nico, you even have Percy. But you also have me."

" Okay."

And then I here screams coming from the house and without even thinking I bust down the door and run in. I run to the basement and sure enough there was not one but two kids down there. They started screaming again when they saw, why? Then I realized that I was still wearing the mask, I ripped it off and said,

" It's okay. It's okay, I am here to help you."

And then I hear footsteps behind me. I wipe around and see him, Rick. He said,

" I knew it wouldn't be long after you saw me before you would come here."

" You are a sick bastard!"

" How is that any way to talk to your uncle."

I didn't react I knew that he would enjoy that, he said,

" You don't seem surprised?"

" Because I already know."

I heard more footsteps several pairs from what I can tell. Then I see Luke, Jess, and Nico stomping down the stairs, Rick said,

" I would like us to be alone."

And Rick started to close the door before he could fully shut it I saw Luke's horrified face. He was scared for me, before he was gone he yelled,

" REN! REN!RRREEENNN!"

And then we were cut off. Rick said,

" Wow, you have a boyfriend, I thought that would never happen."

" Buzz off! And let these kids go."

" No."

Then he came straight for me. He wrapped his hands around my throat I could feel the air flow stop. Then I hear a constant bang, at first I thought it was my my heart then I realized that someone was banging against the door, my bet it was Luke. He yelled,

" YOU CAN'T LET HIM WIN! JUST KILL HIM!"

After hearing Luke adrenaline surged through my body and I grabbed one of the concealed knives. I cut him across his face along the scar I had caused before. He screamed with pain and stubbled back. Blood was streaming down his face, he tried to come for me again, this time I stabbed him under the ribs. Rick stumbled backwards. I grabbed him by the hair and pulled his head back to exposed his neck. I took my knife and pressed hard into his throat and said,

" You deserve to die."

He said,

" So do you."

At that I sliced across his throat. Blood sprayed on my face. And I felt the life leave him. I heard the little kids scream behind me. Luke started to yell,

" Ren! Ren are you okay?"

I slowly walked toward the door and opened it Luke came running in. He said,

" Oh my gods! Ren!"

He came and wrapped his arms around me and held me close. I looked over at Jess and said,

" Make those kids forget what they saw and tell them to run."

Jess and Nico took them upstairs Luke said,

"Are you alright?"

" I don't know."

Luke took me upstairs and found me some clothes from another house. I changed quickly, then Jess and Nico came in and said,

" Ren you need to see this."

I walk into the room and see so many pictures of me. It scared me and there was journals every where. Then I paused at a picture and stared at, Luke said,

" What is it?"

" It's me and my mom, with him."

" And?"

" We are… happy."
