Chapter 18

" Why does this picture surprise you Ren?"

" Because I don't remember it. I remember everything. Why can't I remember this one happy moment?"

" Ren, you have plenty of happy memories."

" Like what!"

" Ren you do you not call the time we spent together happy? Because if you don't you aren't the person I thought you were."

Then it hit me I had more happy memories than I last came here. And all of them were with Luke. He was, no he is the one bright spot in my life. I just never realized till now. I guess I understand what Nico feels like with Jess. Being in darkness is something that you can get used to but it makes seeing the light that much more amazing. I reach up to Luke and kiss him softly on the lips. His smooth cool lips started to warm under mine and I could tell he was going to want more. I pulled away and said,

" Luke the only happy memories I have are with you."

He smiled and was about to go in for another kiss when Jess and Nico came in and said,

" Ren you need to read this."

" I don't want to dead head."

" Gods you don't have to be a bitch about it."

Then out of now where Jess slapps him across the face and says,

" You frigging moron she just killled someone that was apart of her family. I don't about you but we don't killl our relatives everyday."

As soon as Jess said it I could tell she immediatley regreted it. I could tell by Nicos' face that hurt alot more than I would have thought. To stop this I said,

" No, I didn't kill someone apart of my family you guys are my family."

Jess got teary eyed and said,

" AAAAWWWW."

She ran over to me and gave me a big fat hug. I stiffened and tried real hard to not beat her across the head. I pushed her away and said,

" Thank you Jess. But. Never. Ever. Do. That. Again. It took alot of will power not to beat the shit out of you."

" Sorry force of habit."

" I'm not a bit surprised little miss sunshine."

And then the black smoke started to curl around our feet, our calves, and then our whole bodies. We reappeared in the ball room and Prometheous standing right next to me. He said,

" Friends and their foes we have a true hero who would sacrafice their only family for a world that does not know her or even care. To Ren!"

The crowd of monsters raised their glasses full of demigod blood and yelled,

" To Ren!"

They drank with glee and continued to eye us for a possible after party snack. I ignored it to the best of my abilty. We walked around for a while with absolutly nothing to do except be on guard. Jess didn't seem to think so. She went up to the bar and ordered something when I ghost like sort of guy with blonde hair and a grundge style went up to her. His shirt said, " normal people scare me". He must have died in the nineties. He says to her,

" Hey I am Tate. I think you are hot. You want to make out?"

Jess adpoting to her new persona says,

" Why are you asking and not doing?"

Then the dude just slaps his lips on hers and starts trying to shove his tongue down her throat. They make out for about five minutes, I didn't see any reason not to stop them. I mean she and Nico are apart for the moment and she needs to expand her horizons. Then Nico comes back from what ever the hell he was doing and says,

" Mother of Zeus! That moron is trying to…"

I said,

" Make out with her?"

"UUUGGGHHH. I can't think of it that way. He is choking her."

" I am sure he is."

" Shut up Ren."

He ran over to Tate pulled him off of Jess and punched him the face. Jess said,

" What in Hades are you doing."

" I am stopping this psycho from hurting you."

Then Jess punches him in the stomach, upper cuts him in the jaw, and finishes with a left hook to the cheek bone. She says,

" You should be worried about this Psycho! I knew what I was doing."

" I, I, I,…"

" Made a mistake."

She looks over at Tate who says,

" I don't know why I am attracted to you. But I want to make out with again."

" I am a demigod and I might bite your tongue if I start making out with again."

" That explains it you're not normal."

" Who said I was? Ren, can we leave now!"

I said,

" Why we were having so much fun."

" Come on I want to go."

We headed for the door when Prometheous appeared and said,

" As promised."

He hands me the plate piece and I say,

" Did that amuse you?"

" Yes. Don't let the smoke hit you on the way out. I also sent you a knew car that will take you to my brother. Have fun."

We head out by the smoke and arrive back in the Warehouse. I run over to my backpack to put the plate piece with the other one. When I set it down the two pieces fused together. I was surprised but not enough to mention it. I told Luke and the beat up Nico that we were going to change. Jess did say anything except Nico or Tate under her breath every few seconds. When we came back I saw Luke sitting on a box reading something. I said,

" What are you reading?"

" Nothing we should get going. I will drive."

" Alright."

We all pile into the new car that was from Prometheous. We drive for five minutes when Nico said,

" I just want to die. Maybe spending eternity with my dad will help me get over you."

Jess says,

" Oh shut up you big baby."

" You little…"

I yell,

" Both of you stop it. You guys couldn't keep your hands off each other and now you can't get far enough away from each other."

" But.."

" Both of you shut up and go to sleep. At least now I don't have to worry about anyone getting pregnant back there."

It didn't take long for them to fall asleep. After an hour of silence Luke said,

" I was reading one of your uncle's journals."

" When did you grab it?"

" Before we got smoked away. I thought it would be something you would need to see."

He hands me the notebook and says,

" You need to read this."

It took me a minute to take it from. I kissed him on the cheek and said,

" I am scared."

" Don't be."

I curl up in my seat and start reading,

" Today is July 8th. My niece was born today. Her name is Ren Olivia Stevens. And my sister says she is a demigod."
