Moon-chan: Here is another song-fiction and as usual I don't own the song or Young Justice, I just thought of this idea a while ago and finally finished typing it out. Hope you like it, review with requests for songs and such. Love you all!
Take A Hint
Artemis and Jade walked into club together on a rare night where they had been left alone to get ready before going out. Artemis was just glad that there hadn't been any crime alerts for her to respond to. Not that she didn't love heroing, no it was that she hardly got a day off just to be a regular person. Granted, the fact that her sister and herself were both reformed criminals, meant that they never had much of a chance to be normal in the first place.
The blonde scanned the karaoke bar looking for her boyfriend and her sister's husband. The former was perpetually late so it was likely that the girls had beaten the men there. Seeing this, the two of them found a booth and sat down ordering a soda each. Neither of them liked to drink, not after what their father used to do to them when they were children. It was one of the reasons that they were so happy that they both had made it out of that life. The two of them watched as the rest of the people in crowd sat down or signed up for the karaoke that was going to start soon. Most of the others in the bar were college students and honestly the two women wouldn't be here if it weren't for Wally, who loved this sort of thing…mostly because of the bitting remarks that Artemis said while they listened. Lain was with the girl's mother and even though Jade was fretting about the Shadows going near her baby the former Assassin settled in to enjoy the evening out.
That didn't last long though because two of the afore mentioned college students, frat boys from the look of them had walked up to their booth and sat down. Their impetuousness made the two half Asian girls' blood boil. It wasn't the mere fact that they sat down at their table, the place was crowded it being a Friday and all. No, it was more than that; the two of them started leering at the two girls. Both of them obviously ignoring the wedding ring on Jade's left hand and the engagement ring on Artemis' own.
Jade was on the verge of taking matters into her own hands and reverting to the way that she would have taken care of these morons before she left the Shadows, but the plotting look in her younger sister's eyes stopped her. Artemis flicked her gaze to the Karaoke machine then back at Jade, a look on her face that said that she had a plan. The two sophomoric frat boys started asking if they were going to sing that night. A smirk on her face Jade spoke, "Oh, we'll sing you a song." Now if the person didn't know Jade they wouldn't be able to read the condescending tone in her voice, they would only hear the "flirting" lilt in it. Artemis and Jade walked up to the DJ and whispered something in his ear. The man smiled and nodded a smirk coming to play on his own face as he prepared the song and handed the girls their mikes.
"Hey, Dudes and Dudettes, we're going to get this party started a little early tonight! Here's these two lovely ladies and they say to listen very closely to the lyrics to two very special *cough* men at their table." At the DJ's words the two idiots at the sisters' table started to hoot and holler. They were new otherwise they would know that Artemis had a very…shall we say protective boyfriend, and Artemis had a reputation of her own…
As the two were setting up Roy and Wally finally walked into the club. They took in the site of the girls on stage and then looked at the table that they had reserved for the night; they saw the two boys there and heard the DJ speak. Roy growled about to deal with the boys, but Wally stopped him a smile playing on his face. "Chill Roy," he said laughter in his voice. "They've got this." Following this remark the two leaned against the back wall near the stage to watch the show, smirks playing on their lips. The music started to play.
Artemis and Jade started to move to the beat and then started to sing. Neither knew at that moment that their significant others had walked in.
La La la la la la la
La la la la la la la
[Artemis:]
Why am I always hit on by the boys I never like
I can always see 'em coming, from the left or from the right
[Jade:]
I don't want to be a priss, I'm just try'na be polite
But it always seems to bite me in the-
Jade was singing and having fun she had her eyes closed and then when she opened them she saw Roy standing near the stage leaning against the walk a smile playing on his lips, transforming the usually surly face into something else entirely. It wasn't an expression that she saw often if at all.
[Artemis:]
Ask me for my number, yeah, you put me on the spot
[Jade:]
You think that we should hook-up, but I think that we should not
[Artemis:]
You had me at hello, then you opened up your mouth
[Both:]
And that is when it started going south
Oh!
Artemis was having a blast and it wasn't because she was singing, no it was because she was able to hang out with her sister in a way that didn't mean that they were going to be in combat. Jade was in her element and then the blonde noticed where her elder sister's eyes were, and she noted Wally standing next to Roy. She caught his eyes and they smiled at one another before she turned to glare meaningfully in the direction of their table.
[Both:]
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my- Hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
No you can't buy me a drink, let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
T-take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
Wally laughed as Artemis simulated punching someone, and he knew that if these guys didn't get the message that the song was sending, then let's just say he wasn't going to hold his spitfire back from knocking the guy's block off. He could tell that Roy was thinking the same thing.
[Artemis:]
I guess you still don't get it, so let's take it from the top
[Jade:]
You asked me what my sign is, and I told you it was Stop
[Artemis:]
And if I had a dime for every name that you just dropped
[Both:]
You'd be here and I'd be on a yacht
Oh!
Being annoyed with the two morons distracted Roy little from the way that his wife was dancing with her sister on top of the stage. He was contemplating letting Jade act on the murderous gleam in her bright black eyes.
[Both:]
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my- Hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
No you can't buy me a drink, let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
T-take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
Artemis hated pushy guys, heck she hated when Wally started pushing her to talk, though it wasn't often. She pointed at the boys and sneered at them though from where they were sitting it looked like a smile. The archer was pissed and boy did Wally know it.
[Artemis:]
What about "no" don't you get
[Jade:]
So go and tell your friends
[Both:]
I'm not really interested
[Artemis:]
It's about time that you're leavin'
[Jade:]
I'm gonna count to three and
[Both:]
Open my eyes and
You'll be gone
Other members of the crowd started to laugh at the college boys' stupidity. All of them knew that Artemis didn't play around, this was one of her local hang outs and they each had received one scathing remark or another from the blonde bombshell at one point or another.
[Jade:]
One
[Artemis:]
Get your hands off my-
[Jade:]
Two.
[Artemis:]
Or I'll punch you in the-
[Jade:]
Three.
[Artemis: [
Stop your staring at my- Hey!
[Both:]
Take a hint, take a hint
I am not your missing link
Let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
Take a hint, take a hint
Woah!
Wally shuddered to think about what would happen to the two at their table if they didn't as the song so clearly told them to "take a hint" and clear out. Artemis could get pretty…well violent for lack of a better word.
[Both:]
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my- Hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
T-take a hint, take a hint
La, La, La...
The crowd went wild as the girls left the stage and walked over to their guys. Artemis smiled lovingly at Wally as he wrapped an arm around her waist. Even as Roy pulled Jade into an intense kiss, that the brunette returned fiercely. As they were kissing the two boys from the table came over with expressions of anger on their faces. "Hey those are our girls," the larger of the two stated with a snarl. The two of them looked like they were looking for a fight.
Wally smiled coldly at them not taking his arm away from Artemis. He looked at her and said with a raised eyebrow, "Arty I think that they are calling you property. Should I warn them what happens to people that don't step off, or as you could say, 'Take a Hint?'"
Roy and Jade didn't bother coming up for air, ignoring the standoff that Artemis and Wally were having with the interlopers. "Take what hint?" the other guy asked dumbly. It was apparent that he hadn't gotten into school for his brains, and neither more than likely did his buddy.
"He means," Artemis stated her hands curling into fists as she stepped out of Wally's hold. "That I'm not interested you egotistical monkeys. By the way the ginger that isn't currently making out with my sister is my fiancée and the other is her husband, get lost. Don't make me tell you a third time or I'll let my boyfriend and my brother-in-law do what they've been waiting to do to you morons since they noticed that you were at our table." Just barely containing her urge to start a bar fight, Artemis turned on her heel and grabbed Wally by his collar. She then fused their lips together, mutually ignoring the two and getting Artemis' anger under control in 'safe' way.
It felt like an hour later when they came up for air and noticed that Jade and Roy were staring at them, suppressed laughter clear in their eyes. "I think that they got the hint," Jade said her hand loosely clasped with Roy's, their fingers threaded together.
"Yeah, me too," Artemis said her voice happy as she leaned against Wally gleaning comfort from his presence just like she used to take from his image on the television when she was a child looking for something to believe in. "I think everyone did. We're taken and so are they." Wally and Roy both smiled at this as they all made their way over to their table and settled in to have a good time, remarking about the quality of the other performers and the songs that they chose.
