Yay, I made my deadline~! I had a lot of fun writing this one, and, as previously requested so many months ago, Tsuna is slightly seme-ish. Well, I hope you enjoy, and thanks a bunch for the reviews, favorites and follows. I actually wrote this in like 6 or 7 hours, so I'm pretty sure there are some mistakes, but I actually went back and read it. Meaning, hopefully, I won't embarrass myself as badly as in previous chapters. Please, enjoy~!
P.S. I will be making a poll for the main pairing. Right now it's R27, and will either shift to 6927 or 1827 (most likely the later). You can vote if you want something else in the incoming chapters.
Disclaimer: I don't own KHR
As Reborn and Tsuna snuggled tightly together, and the angel's halo glowing bright yellow, the crucifix above them shone a blinding white. Reborn, being a demon, twitched at the holy radiance, but quickly shoved it off. In the light, a set of doors appeared. Slowly, they opened together, allowing an angel to freely fly through to the outpost.
She looked around, still hovering beside the crucified Christ even as the doors shut and the light retracted. Pouting, the archangel scanned the small house. On the other side of a toppled coffee table, and under the several chairs scattered around the near empty room. The only other features were the communication stations lining the walls, the Crucifix behind her and the parallel statue, as well as a small desk in the corner.
"Hahi~! I thought one of each being was supposed to be here at all times~! I can't find even one of either!" the brunette whined, closing her pale pink wings so she could land. The purest had sparkling white feathers, yes, but the soldiers that had to kill were gifted with bold, mighty golden wings that had huge wingspans. Everything in between was yellow to pale pink, like hers. It was rumor that the purest had special gifts, but no one but the few thousand that actually possessed white wings knew.
Her frantic thoughts, however, stopped the moment her silver flats didn't hit the floor, but the head of some unlucky, extremely short being. Haru, the name of the dark brunette, had to hold a yelp as she immediately folded her legs. Looking down, she grimaced that she had accidently stepped on a fellow angel, but quickly noticed the demon...holding him.
This time she really did shriek, not being able to control her wings' sudden spaz-attack, but only because her mind was going crazy with shameful thoughts. Wildly, the soft, pink mauve colored wings flapped, causing strong bursts of wind and making her go all around the place. Haru only calmed down when she accidently kicked the same, fellow brunette angel in the head.
Yelping, the wings stopped, and she fell to the ground. Seeing the incoming hardwood floor froze her muscles, and she braced for impact. Moments later, with an abrupt streak of orange, she didn't feel any pain. Instead, she was in the arms of the brunette she kicked. When she had glanced at him previously, he hadn't looked like much, but there were no signs of strain as he held her securely. He was was still short, but now he looked more lithe and fit than thin and weak. His messy, sienna locks that lifted considerably, framed his chocolate eyes handsomely, having an impressive amount of depth and kindness, even for an angel.
He cleared his voice, reminding her that she was staring. Abashed, she quickly jumped out, turning around. Stiffly, she stood, and insecurely asked, "Um, s-sorry, b-but are you t-two, er, why were h-holding...each other?" Haru's face easily beat her wings as more and more blood rushed to her cheeks. She couldn't believe how indecent that sounded, and that it came out of her own mouth!
Going back to the young archangel's entrance, Tsuna was instantly aware of the amount of holy light that appeared only and hour or two after the two of them had started napping. Sighing quietly to himself, he had reasoned he could stay with Reborn for a few more minutes and began to fall asleep, only to be awakened by a heavy tap on the head. Angel flats, real, holy silver. They could easily kick a lesser demon, not to mention most monsters, and deal a lot of damage.
They're usually only given to the Third Choir, or any angel that has to go to the human world or send a message to Hell. Seeing as this angel had holy light leading her way, she was probably Heaven's messenger. Mumbling, he wearily blinked open his eyes. Black. Unsurprising, as Reborn was wearing a suit, and Tsuna himself was cuddled up tightly into the demon's chest. He was right when he saw him; sinful, malicious, but not evil. Lucifer was evil, Tsuna knew that. Reborn, however, was victim to being surrounded by corrupt humans in a corrupt time.
When he was watching Reborn's dreams, he saw a man Reborn only named as Primo. He was noble, and had correct ideals. If only he had a proper descendant to see those ideals through to the end, the world would become a much better place. Unfortunately, Primo had no such luck, but if Reborn had paid better attention, he might not have been here today, and instead in heaven.
Reborn, the World's Greatest Hitman, had morals and understood humans, only a bit too much. He overrode any beauty the world had with his ugly memories of the people he took orders from. It saddened Tsuna greatly. Even angels wore masks to protect themselves. In a moment, Tsuna decided; he would never lie or hide behind a wall with Reborn. Not because of pity or sympathy, but because he deserved that much after his putrid life.
Tsuna's happy moment, however, was soon deflated with another kick to the head. He had noticed the sudden gusts, but ultimately forgot about the other angel in the room. He would have laughed if he wasn't snuggled up into Reborn. After hearing a frightful yelp, however, the seraph immediately jumped to action. With a boost of Sky flames, he sped through the meter and a half distant nearly instantaneously, catching the girl just in time.
The orange flare that flashed in his eyes everytime he activated his flames disappeared just as quickly, leaving him holding the poor archangel as a dozen of her pale pink feathers slowly glided to the floor. Sighing, he checked to see if she was alright, only to find she was staring at him with a very strange sparkle. Clearing his throat, Tsuna watched in mild amusement as she hastily left his grasp and turned around in her extreme embarrassment.
The brunette nearly started chuckling, until she asked a question. He lost nearly all professionalism, slapping a hand over his mouth and reddening cheeks. Had it really looked so indecent? Taking a deep breath, he rationalized that all angels hug, though thinking back to the last several millennia, he corrected himself; it isn't weird for angels to hug. Sighing, Tsuna spoke, "Miss Messenger, he had taken an interest in my wings, and…whoops." Sheepishly scratching the back of his neck, he turned to Reborn. Still sleeping, unsurprisingly, but was obviously disturbed at the missing warmth.
Sighing softly, he walked over to the slumbering body. Gently, Tsuna shook the demon's shoulder. "Hahi~! Why are you waking up the demon! Someone as powerful as him is rarely asleep! It's like waking up a dragon! He'll kill you~!" shrieked the brunette. Chuckling, the seraphim reassured her, "He needs to be awake, and it's not like he can sleep forever. Don't worry; he of all people would know this place is secure. Reborn won't be startled in here." The brunette almost wanted to also add that 'that' had also sedated him considerably, and only he himself could wake him, but decided against it.
Moments later, Reborn opened his eyes slowly, immediately darting to Tsuna's face. "I had a good sleep, bad dreams, but it was nice," he started, almost fooling the brunette, but the seraphim heard the 'but' coming. "What did you do? And I hardly think it was the halo." Tsuna smiled apologetically, as Reborn stared at his wings. "Hahi! I just noticed, but your wings are really small!" squeaked the archangel. The demon quirked an eyebrow. "That must be some strong stuff if I didn't even realize a messenger of Heaven had come over here," he smirked, and seemingly stood up easily.
"Sorry," Tsuna bowed, something he learned from the culture of the last person he had guided and guarded. "Look at your palms, if you want to know what it was," the male angel suggested, gesturing to Reborn's hands, now at his sides. Taking the shorter being's advice, he lifted them up for inspection. Mere moments afterwards, he found the culprit. "Orange glitter dust," he announced. "No," Tsuna said, fighting an amused smile, "Sky Dust."
Haru gasped, "Even though you have really small wings, yours are the purest I've ever seen, the only one in fact. That technique must be one of the rumored special abilities given to the purest angels! Hahi!" she said."You know of the flame attributes, correct?" he asked. "You mean about the seven attributes of the flame energy that runs through all beings?" Tsuna nodded. "Each one has a special ability; my sky flame's ability is harmony. They can petrify a being and render their abilities harmless, or other, more interesting things," he explained, smiling.
"So one makes you fall asleep?" Reborn prodded, glancing at him. Tsuna shook his head, "I can spread the dust or it affects who ever it touches, but it only petrifies those with malicious intent." The demon grumbled, "What if I had had malicious intentions?" Tsuna's smile never left his face, "I trusted it was pure curiosity; we Sky wielders have very good intuition like that," he explained. Reborn nodded, allowing Tsuna to continue, "To those like Reborn, it merely harmonizes our souls."
"Wouldn't that turn you into a demon?!" demanded Reborn loudly, stunning the seraphim for several seconds. To think he got Reborn to show true concern; what an accomplishment with just snuggling and dreaming together. "No, only with true demons. A demon that's stretched further than the skin would never not have malicious intentions." The demon appeared confused, but Tsuna's bright smile assured him that the angel was still as angelic as every.
"That reminds me," he started, "What are these other so called special abilities?" queried the demon. It was the angel's turn to arch an eyebrow, but displayed his trust and determination of the lack of masks by answering in the whole truth, "The dust is a defense mechanism for the white winged. The color and ability depends on your flame. Another is the easier control of flames because our purity is transferred to the flames. That also means ours are stronger and denser, as well. That helps in disguising my true form, as well as changing my halo. The last is," he paused, "When my halo touches someone who lacks malicious intent, it can absorb that person's flames and increase it's purity and strength by a factor of 10."
Reborn smirked, and Tsuna shook his head in exasperation, chuckling lightly as Haru watched in confusion. Effortlessly, and to the archangel's horror, he took off his the braided halo, and with a firm grasp, stretched it out for Reborn to touch. Without a moment's hesitation, his hand latched onto the empty side. In a mere several seconds, a tidal wave of super dense, pure sun flames entered his body. The demon staggered, but held on. The seconds felt like hours, but before he knew it, the halo was floating above Tsuna's head again.
With a deep breath, the sun Arcobaleno recomposed himself, making sure to properly absorb the flames. Tsuna waited patiently for him to adjust himself; the amount was around 20 million fiamma volts, so it was truly respectable Reborn had only flinched. After several minutes, the raven was back to normal; cool and dangerous.
"I never caught your name," said Reborn, directing the attention back to the archangel, who was still dazed at what the seraphim had just did, and how in the world his wings retained their sheen. When she realized the two most handsome beings she'd ever seen were staring at her, she instantly blushed. "I-I'm Haru, hahi~!" the brunette squeaked, before returning to her previous inner conflict: should she choose one and crush on him, or happily watch as they develop an adorable romance.
She cheeks turned from a rosey pink to a deep scarlet in minutes, thinking of personal advantages, future possibilities or problems, and what the two in front of her would want or how they'd respond. Haru's never had a personal relationship, but those weren't usually allowed at her age, and even though the demon-angel relations and contact laws had been temporarily repealed and modified, a demon would definitely turn her into a fallen. Although, pretty much any relationship other than being friends would cause her to sin. Not even taking into account their personal opinions, she declared any hetero relationship with either of the males before her a lose-lose situation. On that note, after all the contact the white winged angel has had, and still be the purest, he could likely sustain a relationship. This 'Reborn' was perfectly okay with the fact he took a nap with an angel, and didn't seem to mind gay relationships. Tsuna was cute, kind, understanding, and calm; they'd make a good pair.
Reborn, who could read another's mind, didn't have to with the creepily happy, blushing face of the other angel. Not that he wouldn't totally agree with her there. He was great in bed, too, but she was right; he wouldn't want to taint those beautiful and wonderfully fluffy wings of his. But the arcobaleno had to admit he was confused that Tsuna's wings were still so white after napping with him of all people. The one they called the Worst Possible Situation, a fate worse than hell, a (stunningly sexy) monstrosity even Hell was afraid of; the darkest, creepiest, scariest, and strongest of the Arcobaleno- a nest of monsters and feared demons.
Tsuna had a sneaking suspicion Haru was going in that direction, and a foreboding feeling emanating from his new demon friend. Although he felt like crying, the brunette couldn't help but smile at the ambience: comfortable and casual. A mere day ago, that would have been unheard of with a demon in the room.
Deciding a strange aura was the only way of communication happening in a communications outpost was a little too ironic, Tsuna spoke. "Um, Haru, would you like anything else, or are you alright for this test?" Finally awakening the girl from her wandering fantasies, she responded, "Do you have any tea and cake?" Huffing Reborn went to sit on a chair by the coffee table. Tsuna calmly watched, not in the least surprised when the demon called out 'Espresso' just as he was about to fly into the kitchen above them.
According to the architecture, the kitchen should have been cramped and pitiful, but to the seraphim's joyous surprise, it was quite the opposite. Noting the exquisite taste, he searched through the large refrigeration space, quickly finding both a small coffee-chocolate cake and two adorable strawberry shortcakes,\. Afterwards, the angel but on the kettle. In the mean time, Tsuna set the cakes on small, classy plates, fetched forks, and began exploring the cabinets in hopes of locating some teacups, and or a nice mug.
After spotting and placing the wanted items beside the kettle, he started up an espresso machine he found in the pantry. Being extra precise, as to not incur Reborn's wrath, he orchestrated his own special blend for espresso that he had learned from his ninth soul. Luckily, the machine worked fast, and the tea, cake, and espresso was all completed some 10 or 15 minutes later.
Just to be safe, Tsuna slightly grew his wings for better balance, and carefully maneuvered to the lower floor. It mustn't have seem that long to Haru and Reborn, because both looked surprised as he came down holding the silver tray. The brunette placed it on the coffee table, in front of Reborn, and sat down next to him. Haru settled beside Tsuna, slightly fearful of being so close to a demon. The arcobaleno could only roll his eyes, far too used to the fear, even precautionary. That said, he was amazed that the angel next to him, seraphim or not, had only been truthful, not concealing anything. Because of this, Reborn would not have believed it when Tsuna was only open armed, not fearing or flinching at all.
The raven liked it. He felt like he could be...more open as well. "Aren't strawberry shortcakes for girls?" he teased, smirking again. Frowning (*cough*pouting*cough*) Tsuna stabbed a strawberry, and expertly stuffed it in Reborn's open mouth. Feigning a real frown, he chewed and swallowed the red fruit, a light bulb popping up in his head. Not that anyone would be able to tell.
"I don't like chocolate, you can have if you want," the raven said, sipping his espresso. The demon then set it down, and laid back. Curiously, the seraphim picked up Reborn's fork, which was unused, and cut off a piece to eat himself, all seemingly clueless. He popped it in his mouth, analyzing the chocolate mixing together with strong coffee. Thinking they blended nicely together, he shook his head disapprovingly. He cut off another piece, and repeated his action from before; forcing the raven to eat his food.
Just as quickly as Tsuna, the Arcobaleno grabbed the smaller brunette's wrist, and pulled him to a position just barely hovering over the raven's seated body. For a little more leverage, the angel rested his knees on either side of Reborn's left leg. All the while, Haru summoned a camera, not that the two care very much- as long as it doesn't go too far. The obsession with their strange relationship, they mean.
"You know," Reborn mutters, with Tsuna only inches from his face and close enough to catch the thick scent of coffee, "That's the second time you've kissed me," he purred, the corners of the raven's lips lifting, revealing sparkling, sharp canines. The angel, although pink dusted his cheeks, smiled knowingly, "I knew I could only pull that trick once- even that was stretching it, but," he started, observing the growing smirk on the Arcobaleno's face, "As the human's say, third time's the charm," and swiftly closed the space between their lips.
Reborn, knowing where this was headed to the moment he grabbed Tsuna's wrist, completely loved that the brunette was the one to initiate it. Although Haru was pretty much hyperventilating, the kiss was sweet and innocent, but at the same time deep and touching. All in all, immensely satisfying. At least, until an alarm started blaring.
Tsuna broke it off, much to Reborn's displeasure, and jumped off the seat for the large red button that was glowing. Seeing 'EMERGENCY' above it, he pressed it, and pulled on the nearest set of headphones. "Hello?" asked Tsuna into the microphone."Kufufufu~Hello my dearest little angel," the voice responded. "Mukuro," he said, in silent demand that he would get serious. Thankfully, the demon got the clue. "I'm afraid, Tsuna-chan, that Kokuyo Land is infested with monsters- in other words, the enemy. Even I won't be able to handle them single handedly."
Remaining calm, Tsuna glanced at the right monitor, and allowed himself to form a smirk. "Don't worry, Mukuro. A small army is headed there at an astonishing speed and will be there in mere minutes." The tall demon paused, "Kufufufu, the skylark is coming to play~. Yes, thank you, Tsuna-chan. I believe the two of us will easily handle this, that is, if the skylark was in top condition." Reborn, with his sharp ears, narrowed his eyes, as did Tsuna. "What happened?"
"Kufufufu~At Skylark's most recent stop, Namimori, Japan, he ran into The Trident Lord, and got bitten."
I hope you liked it! Winter break is finally dawning, much to my horror, so I don't really know when the next one will be; on the weekend, in a week, in two weeks, in a month, valentines day, spring break. Now that I think about it though, I do want to do something special for Valentines, so who knows what'll happen on that day. Would a special, a oneshot, or a new story be better? Anyway, please review to tell me your comments, and vote on the poll if you want a say in the main pairings. I DO NOT COUNT ONES IN REVIEWS. I have before, and trust me, it gets messy. Other than that, have a good Friday Morning!
