"AHHH" Astrid cried out as the flung the full grown man over her shoulder and slammed him to the ground. She breathed heavily as she stood up straight and put her boot covered foot on the soldier's chest plate.
"Anyone else?" she asked glancing around at the shocked faces staring back at her with a smirk on her face.
No one made a move to approach the young blonde who had a smug smile on her face as Flynn walked up to her. He cleared his throat trying to hide his surprise "Impressive Astrid…but why don't we give you a real challenge, me."
The men cheered around their leader as Flynn crossed his arms in triumph. "Well? Don't tell me the mighty Viking warrior is afr- ooph!" he groaned as he was shoved to the ground and Astrid stood above him.
"Hey! I wasn't ready!" he cried out before kicking his foot causing her to fall backwards.
"A warrior is always ready for the unexpected!" Astrid taunts getting to her feet, her eyes watching Flynn's body movements.
The soldiers held their breath as the two circled each other, no one dared to make a move. Astrid, being the head strong Viking she was, made the first move charging towards her opponent. Flynn moved to the side and grabbed her outstretched arm and pulled her backwards causing the girl to yelp as she was dragged backwards.
Annoyed with the cocky bastard Astrid kicked her feet up around his neck and maneuvered her body around and instantly brought him to the ground. She quickly grabbed a discarded sword laying on the ground and held it to the General's neck. "Give?" she breathlessly asks with a grin.
Flynn narrowed his eyes but knew his battle was over. He slowly nodded his head "I give."
The men were silent before cheers erupted in the air as the soldiers ran into the training grounds and picked the young girl up over their shoulders. She giggled and gave Flynn a solute. He rolled his eyes with a smile "Show off." He mumbled.
A finger tapped his shoulder causing the man to turn to see a guard looking nervously at his superior. "Sir?" the young guard asked.
"Yes?" Flynn countered, wiping the dirt off of his pants and rose to his feet with a groan. He was getting too old for this.
"There is a man here, a prince, who says he is here on behalf of the Southern Isles." The guard says quietly.
"What?" Flynn asked "Where is he?"
"The docks sir." The guard replies. Flynn rubbed his chin and made his way past the guard towards the docks.
"Everything alright?" Astrid asked running up to the General.
"We have a guest. I didn't think Anette invited anyone else." Flynn says, mostly to himself.
"You never know, Arendelle has many allies and trade partners." Astrid points out as she struggled to keep up with Flynn's long strides.
"It doesn't make any sense. Come on, let's check this guy out." He orders.
The make it to the docks where a lone ship floats in the fjord. There stood a young man dressed in a navy color military style coat with matching slacks, white gloves covered his hands, and his red hair blew in the frigid wind.
Flynn and Astrid glanced at each other before approaching the man "Welcome to Arendelle." Flynn greets "I am Flynn Rider, General of the Corona Army, this is Astrid of Berk, Viking Warrior."
The man nodded his head politely to the both of them "Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, at your service."
Flynn cleared his throat "What brings you to Arendelle your Highness?"
"I was sent here on behalf of my brother, King of the Southern Isles, to assist in the upcoming war with Valentale, we were sent a letter by Queen Anette." He says holding up the folded up parchment.
"Well." Flynn begins "Let's get you settled then. Are anymore men coming?"
Hans shook his head "Not at the moment, my brothers are recruiting soldiers and should ship them here in the next few days."
Astrid stared at the man with narrowed eyes, there was something off about him, she just knew it. Why was he sent here alone? Surely a Prince would need some type of protection. Something just didn't add up and she was going to find out.
"Jack where are we going?" Elsa giggled as Jack held her hand and dragged her through the large village that was full of citizens all dressed in warm clothes and hanging decorations around.
"Come on, Elsa, stop asking questions." Jack says squeezing her hand.
"What are they doing?" she asked as the pass more citizens decorating.
"It's the winter festival. It happens around this time. We're in luck, it's going to be a wild party." Jack replied with an excited grin on his face as he waved to a passing by villager and turned to the platinum haired girl "Ready for some fun?"
Elsa rose an eyebrow "Yes? Wait how can they see you?"
He chuckled and grabbed her hand once more and brought her to the center of the village with a band was playing upbeat music. "M'lady." Jack bows to Elsa with a smile on his face and an out stretched hand.
Elsa giggled and grabbed his hand as he began to dance with her. "Wait Jack!" she cries out causing him to pause.
"What is it?" he asked blue eyes filled with worry, his white eyebrows furrowing.
Elsa blushed and bit her cheek "I've never danced before."
Jack's worry vanished and a sincere smile graced his face "I can teach you, now come on, we're missing the fun!" he says and proceeds to drag her to the center of the village.
He pulled her close and held her small waist while placing her hands over his shoulders "Ready snowflake?" he asked.
She nodded slowly as he began to move her to the beat of the music. Elsa was clumsy at first, stepping on Jacks bare feet once or twice then stumbling a few times but soon the Princess had the hang of it.
A burst of laughter escaped her lips as she pulled away from Jack and began spinning on her own, her hair was pulled out of its bun and was freely flowing behind her. Jack smiled and dreamily watched her spin around with snow falling onto her face. "Come on Jack!" Elsa says beckoning him with her finger.
He smirked and pulled her close to him "I thought you've never danced before?" he asked as she swayed to a slower song.
She blushed "I haven't."
Jack grinned and brought his face closer to hers "Well you're a natural then."
Elsa's breath hitched as his pale face came closer and closer to hers, was she ready for this? A complete stranger was about to kiss her. But was he really a stranger? Of course they only a met a few days ago but they were friends. Friends couldn't kiss friends right? Or are the not friends at all? 'Oh screw it all!' she thought ready to feel the Winter Spirit's lips descend on hers.
The sound of galloping hoofs caused the two to break apart. Screams erupted from the villagers as the soldiers of Valentale invaded the scene. Elsa narrowed her eyes, darn those soldiers.
Heres the Jelsa scene we've been missing in the past few chapters!
Darn those soldiers! Ruining a perfect Jelsa moment!
Astrid is pretty bad ass huh? Poor Flynn didn't stand a chance.
Next chapter Astrid will keep an eye on the new allie welcomed to Arendelle, Kristoff will meet Hiccup officially (there may be some jealousy), along with Elsa and Jack's escape (or will they escape?) Find out next chapter!
Until next time dear readers! :)
