I wake up early this morning, or I think it is early in this arena, to go refill my water bottle. Since the poisonous fog has almost killed me, I am guessing it probably contaiminated my water bottle. I stand up, pick up my pack, then start my trek to the lake. When I start to walk, I look around the arena for tributes or anything that will trigger my cannon. Nothing is there, luckily, but the lake will take some time to get to. I wonder where the Careers are in this arena right now, maybe sleeping at the Cornucopia with all the supplies. When my mind flies from the Careers to other tributes, how many are left? I count them on my fingers. Boy from 1, both from 2, boy from 4, boy from 5, both from 7, girl from 8, Tucker, and me. Only 10 left in the first few days. The bigger thing is, both from 12 are alive still. We don't make it to 10 tributes, we just die in the bloodbath or muttations.
I spot the lake in the distance, and start running towards it. When I reach it I pull out my pack, unzip it, grab my water bottle, then drain it on the grass far from the lake. As I predicted, it is purple and poisonous. I am glad I was to cautious to drink it freehanded. I plung my water bottle into the lake, drain it again for the extra poison, swirl it around and drain it again. I remember I had 2 bottles, then reach for the next one, but I stop. Maybe I can have one bottle for drinking and the other to poison my enemies, maybe the Careers. A smile appears on my face, and I laugh, quietly to myself cautious of other tributes.
My water bottle now seems to be full and ready to go, so I take a sip of the clean water one. I know the difference because the water bottles are different colors. They were both silver, but I got some wild flowers and made a dye to tell the difference. When I am done drinking my water, I fill it up again, just in case I can't get here later I want to be prepared. As I walk away from the lake, I hear a splash. I dart around, retrieve the knife from my belt, I put it there just in case a situation like this presents itself. The tribute is in the lake, drowning, I start to recognize him.
It is Tucker.
I plung into the water, desperate for his safty, then drag him to the land. I don't even know whow to swim, but I am just so filled with adrenaline that I am able to keep myself afloat without much trouble. Tucker starts to pant when he is on the grass, he then lays down and coughs up some water. He takes long hard breathes, he must have been scared to death. When the breathing slows down and he calms, I give him some berries I found in the arena a while back. He takes them willingly and eats them. I smile at him, glad he is around.
"How many tributes are left?" He asks, still eating the berries.
"10, including you and me. How many have you seen?" I ask and he starts to think about this.
"I have seen the boy from 7, girl from 8, and boy from 5. Not including you." He answers
"What kind of supplies do they have, and I also saw the boy from 7 before. Day 1, he killed the girl from 1 and almost fell off a mountain but his ax saved him, not in that order." I say
"The boy from 7, as you said has an ax, but he also has a pack. The girl from 8 has only a pack, and the boy from 5 has nothing." He then stands up.
"Hey I got another question." I say, standing up with him.
"Shoot."
"How is that knife wound in the back so far?" I ask him, scared of the answer.
"Not that good, I survived but I think it is starting to become infected." He says, lifting the part of his shirt that covers his back.
The wound is green, still with cracked red blood, and puss is coming out like a volcano erupting. "You need some medicine." I say, in awe of the sight.
"I know, do you have anything that might help me?" He asks with concern.
"Sorry, I don't have any medicine, we might need to get either sponsors or from the feast. And we both know we are not going there." I say
"Why not, we need it don't we?" He asks
"Yes we do, everybody that goes to the feast needs something. That is the point of it anyway." I say, and it starts to get dark.
I start to walk away from the lake, with Tucker tagging behind me. He has information about some tributes, that is important at this point. We need as much info on these few tributes left as we can get now. I am so desperate to win, I almost completly forget about Tucker living to Day 5, with that infectionous wound. If only we listened to the Trainer in the Training Center that talked about natural causes of death. When I was there I was more focused on my knife skills, which have excelled.
Boom!
A cannon just fired. I look around me, searching for Tucker. He is still behind me, though. I shrug and continue to walk away. But the though of who died is picking into my brain. It was probably the boy from 5 or the girl from 8. 5 had nothing, while 8 had a pack. 5 could has died in a battle, or died by any naturaly cause, like starvation or dehydration. 8 could have died in a battle, she still has her pack so she might have not died by lack of food and/or water. So, I conclude that it was the boy from 5 that died most likely.
I take camp next to a tree, a tree! There is not many in this arena, but I have found this one. I put my pack on the floor, regain my sleeping bag, then snuggle inside it. Tucker retreives his pack from his side, since he clicked it to his side so he doesn't need to take it off his back. He digs inside it and gets a green sleeping bag, that matches the grass. The anthem starts to play when he slips into the sleeping bag.
The tribute that died was the boy from 5. I knew it. Yet, I still don't know how he died, we are down to the final 9. The Feast usually commences at the final 8, in which every tribute needs something "desperatly". Like Tucker needs medicine, and maybe the girl from 8 needs a knife of whatever she is skilled at. I shift in my bag and start to get sleepy. My eyes are now heavy, and I am to sleepy to keep them open.
