~Six~

Itachi slammed his bedroom door shut, isolating himself from the rest of his family. Rin had no right to say such a thing in front of his parents, now the elder sibling had to live up to this. And how dare Sasuke call him a hypocrite; he was nothing of the sort! Their father wasn't the type of man to handle bad news well, so convincing him that Rin had a miscarriage or something else of the sort would take a lot of lying and persuasion. What would he do, if his father found out that he too had a few gay tendencies? He'd most likely be damned to the same fate as Sasuke. He checked his surroundings, letting his eyes rest upon the bottle of sleeping pills upon his lamp stand. Then turned over to look at his alarm clock.

6:30pm

The pitter patter of the pouring rain upon his window, elicited a calm feeling to wash over. Now laying on his back, Itachi stared at the ceiling as sleep began to slowly consume him.

"Daddy?" Itachi's eyes snapped open, at the abrupt sound of a young child calling for him. There he stood in total darkness, isolated from the rest of humanity. Intently he stared at the nothingness around him, while small breezes would whisk his hair any which way. "Daddy!" The young voiced cried as he whipped around frantically, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't escape the voice. The loudness intensified as each second ticked by.

"Shut up." He growled, while pressing each palm firmly against his ears.

"Daddy!...Daddy!...Daddy!" He bared his teeth, eyes wide in some sort of twisted fear. Eyes agape and bloodshot, with his teeth bared. Itachi never showed fear of anything or anyone, but this look of hopelessness scared even himself. "Daddy!...DADDY!-"

"-Shut the fuck up!-"

"-DADDY!...DADDY!...DADDY-"

"-Shut up, shut up, shut up!"

"DADDY!..DADDY!...DADDY!" Itachi dashed off, running into the endless darkness and the voice grew louder, and his hands began to shake.

Fear.

He knew this feeling, but dared to let it show; dared to let anyone know that the Itachi Uchiha had a skeleton in his closet that he kept well hidden. A skeleton that now stood before him in this darkness. His onyx eyes widened in incredulity, and his knees gave way to his upper body. He fell to the ground, his body shaking as she stared passively into his face. The young child, around age 5, had long jet black hair; her cerulean eyes stared straight before her, as Itachi watched in horror. She wore a white and red Kimono to symbolize the name of Uchiha. "Daddy, why did you let me die?" He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't find the words. Just a Itachi found the courage to speak, a man placed the barrel of the gun against her temple. Kana's eyes stayed fixated on her father, as he struggled to stand to his feet. It seemed like the weight of the world rested on his shoulders; pressing him down.

"Kana, move! Get out the way!-"

"-Daddy, did you not love me?-"

"-Kana move! Leave now!-"

"-Why did you leave us behind?"

"GET OUT THE WAY BEFORE HE-" The words caught in this throat as the man, looked over at him and grinned. Itachi then shook, as he looked into his own eyes. "...No."

"You killed me, daddy...but I...I still love you." She smiled, eliciting her eyes to shut as the duplicate Itachi pulled the trigger with no hesitation.

"KANA!"

Itachi jumped from the sudden scream, frantically checking the surroundings of his bedroom. Sweat glistened along his bare chest, and his hair had been plastered against his back. His chest throbbed in agony from abrupt fear he'd just faced. With his right hand, the young man rested his palm against his heart, feeling the organ bump vigorously like a freight train had just went through it. The Uchiha frowned, noticing his cheeks were stained in dry tears. It wasn't his fault. He loved Kana.

Lately he's been having weird dreams similar to that one, but he only hoped that they would go away as quick as they came into mind. A raspy breath of air left his soft lips, but the Uchiha continued to sit stiffly upon his king sized bed. Idly watching his surroundings as if people were walking by. No sleep. Not a single chance to earn true piece, and Itachi truly doubted he'd ever be left alone by the torture in his head. In his mind, he replayed that day's events; becoming more mortified each time. But things were different now, and the only thing he desired most...was to make things right, and undo what damaged had already been done. He felt weird. Strange; like something had been off from the world around him, however it all seemed real. "Itachi!" Sasuke's voice yelled from downstairs. The older raven, still half naked frantically kicked the distorted sheets off of the body parts (his torso, down) that the sheets did in fact manage to enshroud, before slinging his legs over the side of the bed.

The cold surface of the wooden floorboards, burned his feet slowly, but he continued in his task. Rising hastily, Itachi ran out his bedroom door, and down the luxurious staircase, towards the dining hall. Once again, the eerie feeling consumed him, but he paid no attention to it. His long lock sliced through the air, whipping from left, then right, then back once more as he ran through the Manor. "ITACHI!" He quickened his pace, noting that his father nor his mother, (which he found quite odd) did not make a move to see what the problem had been. They were no longer home, and that had also been something unusual. Before they went anywhere, his mother or father would've spoken to him prior to their departure. Everything felt surreal. "ITACHI!" The raven stumbled over a fallen bottle, falling upon the floor in the dining hall. His eyes wide in fear as Sasuke held a limp child in his arms. But not just any ordinary child; his child.

"Ka-Kana?" Itachi's onyx eyes shook as he convulsed upon the floor. "No...no, no, no...NO! This isn't happening! I woke up!...I woke up from this hell!" Itachi yelled, shaking violently as his younger brother smirked mischievously. "This is just a dream, dammit! Leave me alone! I didn't kill my child!-"

"-What's the matter, Itachi?" Said Itachi whipped around to face Deidara. The blonde pursed his lips at the sight of Itachi's enlarged eyes, noting the rapidly accumulating fear. "This is what you've caused us all-"

"-Bastard, I didn't cause any of this!-"

"-YOU KILLED OUR CHILD!" Just as he opened his mouth to retort, Itachi clutched his heart as a painful jolt occurred idly. His began to loose more oxygen as he struggled to breath. The Uchiha laid upon the floor, taking in raspy breaths of air, before another painful surge attacked his heart.

Heart attack.

Itachi groaned in agony, averting his fuzzy gaze towards Sasuke and his daughter. This was only a dream, but why did he actually feel like he was in fact dying? Whatever was causing this, he sure as hell didn't like it.

At the Uchiha Manor.

Sasuke stood in the hallway after Itachi stormed off from their minor debate. Not that he cared about what his brother had to say, it still bothered him that he would flip out over Rin's pregnancy. Itachi respected everyone, so it made the 19-year-old wonder tremendously. Fugaku and their mother both sat alone in the dinning hall, each conversing over the news and shock of Rin's unexpected pregnancy. Sasuke laced his blanch fingers through his short hair, before fixing his grey sweatshirt. He didn't have any fancy clothes to wear to dinner, (it was a family tradition to dress formal) since Fugaku discarded him. He couldn't afford luxurious clothing, and all the old ones he did have were still at home with Naruto. He averted his gaze towards the balcony upstairs, deciding against himself to go and talk to Itachi. Mumbling obscenities under his breath, he languidly ascended the stairs, taking note of his brother's cracked door. He'd heard the man slam his door shut, so why was it in fact slightly open. "Itachi?"

He inquired monotoned, while jamming each hand into a pocket on his pants. His passive visage embraced the dark hallway, as he drew closer to the bedroom. "...Itachi, do you hear me?" No response. The 19-year-old quirked up his right eyebrow, withdrawing his left hand from his pocket, before pressing it against the jasper doorknob. "Itachi?!" Still no response. Clutching the knob abruptly, he twisted the knob and slung the door open. His eyes widened as he stared incredulously at his brother's motionless body. Eyes closed, and head turned slightly, Itachi laid upon his bed lifeless. Sasuke rushed over to the body, immediately feeling his pulse, and found it pumping very faintly. "MOTHER!...FATHER! COME QUICK, ITACHI'S BARELY BREATHING!" He turned Itachi's head, grabbing blankets and placing them upon his brother's cold body. Seconds later, he heard frantic footsteps rushing up the stairs; whipping around when his mother gasped out in shock.

"Sasuke, what happened in here?!" Fugaku exclaimed, as he rushed over to his son. Pushing the younger sibling out of his way, Fugaku ordered Mikoto to call an ambulance, while he tried to revive his son. "He's ice cold!..." Turning his ire gaze towards Sasuke, Fugaku spoke nothing for a bit; just simply watched. "...What happened?!"

"Father, I don't know." Sasuke answered nonchalantly, watching his father glare at his person, before averting his sympathy gaze towards his eldest child. It was unlike Itachi to attempt suicide, but when Sasuke's eyes fell upon the empty bottle of sleeping pills; he had no choice but to believe that's what caused it all.

"The ambulance and paramedics are on their way!" Mikoto announced hastily as she entered back into the room. Immediately, she wrapped her arms around Sasuke as they both watched Fugaku pump Itachi's chest. Mikoto wept on Sasuke's shoulder, and all he could do was stare at the empty bottle.

Why Itachi?

~Since I haven't really been writing on this story in a while, I decided to at least post something interesting for you all, until we both got back into the groove of things. Hope you enjoyed the chapter, and I apologize once more for the long wait, and for all the errors, confusion, and if the chapter seems stupid to any of you. Hopefully, I'll update the next chapter Friday; or some time this weekend since I need to make it up to you all. TaTa for now! Follow, Favor, Review; do whatever you see fit too! Peace!~
