I haven't done this for any of the other chapters, but i do not own The Mortal Instruments, Cassandra Clare does. Nor do i own any of the clothing that i post on Polyvore and mention in this story.
Read on.
Chapter 7
JACE POV.
I took one last look at Clary and shut the door. I made my way to the library, where my awaiting parents were.
"Shut the door Jonathan." I heard from around the corner. I did what my father demanded and sat in a chair.
"Please, I've told you hundreds of times to call me Jace, not Jonathan."
My dad spoke up. "Son. What have you done?"
"Nothing." I said stubbornly.
"Jace, she is pregnant. How could you be so stupid?"
"Yes Clary, my girlfriend is 22 weeks pregnant and we're having a girl. Thank you for being so happy for me." I turned to walk away, and stopped. "You know I love Clary and she is carrying my baby is even better. This pregnancy has been so hard on the both of us, her gynaecologist has diagnosed her with Placenta Previa. Do you know what that is?!" At that moment I was shouting.
My dad shook his head, but my mom gasped. "It's when the Placenta is lower down than it should be. That means she and the baby are in risk of dying. Whether it is stress or physical activities. Please don't put her down, or be rude."
Then I left. Walking down the halls, felt like I haven't been away for 6 months. My dad and I never got along, but my mom and I got on very well.
I entered my room to see my beautiful Clary lying on the bed with a smile on her face. I couldn't be bothered to do anything else, so I kicked off my shoes and lay on the bed, gently pulling Clary to my chest and interlocked our hands together on her stomach.
Fluttering is what I felt before I succumbed darkness.
CLARY POV
We were called down to dinner where Jace's parents were already seated waiting for us.
"Hello Mr and Mrs Herondale." I greeted them.
Celine shook her head. "No please Clarissa, I'm Celine and this is Stephen." Dinner was served and it included lots of vegetables, fruits and pasta.
Celine and Stephen started talking to each other while Jace turned to face me.
"How are you feeling?" He whispered.
"I'm feeling fine right now, it'll get worse later on."
"Clarissa." I looked up to see Celine looking at me intently.
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if you would like to accompany me to the shops tomorrow, to look for some clothes."
Taken back by surprise. "Yes I'd like to. Thank you for offering." I agreed.
It was early morning when Jace woke me up, mentioning his mother wanted to leave in an hour.
I groaned and pulled myself out of bed.
"Clare, please don't fuss. It is an outing to explore LA. Now go and have a shower."
I finished my shower and got dressed into something comfy, knowing that Jace's mom would make me try on a bunch of things.
Celine was waiting with Jace at the door, chatting. As I got nearer I heard. "Mom, please don't walk far or make Clary stand up for long."
She said okay and we followed out the door to a silver SSC Ultimate Aero. What a beautiful car.
"Jace gripped my shoulder and turned me to him. "Be safe Clary and have fun. I love you."
I kissed him quickly on the lips. "Okay, I love you too."
I struggled, but with Jace's help sat in the low car. We waved goodbye and left.
"Clary. I'm sorry if I was cold to you when we met. It's just that lot of people have tried to get the wealth of this family through Jace mostly and I'm always worried." I glanced in her direction and she had an apologetic look in her face.
"It's alright. I kind of get what you mean. My mom, Jocelyn Fairchild was a world famous artist, my biological dad Luke Graymark is a well-known doctor, my other dad Valentine Morgenstern had a huge company, and people always tried to- Sorry even now- get close to my family, using my friends or myself."
"I am sorry to pry, but you said Jocelyn Fairchild was your mother. I love her art, it is all over the house. But you said the words in past tense."
A tear dripped down my face. "Oh god, I really hate hormones. Yes, when I was seven my mom and Valentine were in a car accident, killing them both. But luckily I have Luke."
After that it was silence, not an awkward silence, but comfortable. Then the baby kicked me.
I tried to stifle a gasp, but no use. Celine glanced at me as she parked the car. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, the baby just kicked me in the ribs."
She nodded and we climbed out the car. "I remember when I was pregnant with Jace he would always kick me there, so I would do this." She walked over to me and instructed that I put my hand on top and underneath my stomach, and rock side to side.
"Thanks I'll definitely remember that next time." She pointed the way and we were off.
Surprisingly not many people noticed us, only a few glances our way. Celine took me to a few dress shops, some maternity places as well. She offered to pay for everything, after lots of begging I said yes, but we never found an outfit for tomorrow's events.
I offered to buy her lunch, to pay her back.
We went a small, cute restaurant where she ordered a chicken salad and a latte and I ordered chicken salad, fries and a smoothie.
We sat down in a small booth with our food.
"Clary, would you like me to make you a dress for tomorrow? I have a perfect idea in mind that would suit you."
"Wow, thanks. I'd like that very much."
We arrived home a little while later and Celine showed me a design of the dress, it was a three-quarter sleeve, thigh length lacy, blue dress. It was beautiful.
She went straight on to making it.
Well guys, how did you like Jace's POV in there. The next chapter will reveal the baby's name, last chance for any ideas. I love your imput. :)
Please REVIEW! (By the way how many of you actually read the author notes at the bottom and top of the page?)
