Chapter 8

When Jace woke up the next morning at 8 I was half way through the baby book that Isabelle gave me.

"Morning Clare." He kissed me on the cheek and watched me.

"Hey, what do you think we should name the baby?"

I looked down at Jace and saw that he had a small smile on his face: which doesn't happen often. "I have been thinking about this for a while now, how about Sophia?

That is such a beautiful name. "I love it… Sophia Rose." He nodded. I put the book down and kissed him. "I'm just going to and wander around."

"Oh why?" Jace whined. I stood up and he had a puppy dog face.

"Because... I'm bored." With that I left the room and headed to the library. That place was huge. Every book you could think of would probably be there.

There was a statue of an Angel in the center of the place, facing the glazed windows.

Eventually I found my way to the kitchen where Celine was sitting at the bench and sipping coffee. The cook Maria was at the stove making something that smelled heavenly.

"Good morning Clary. How did you sleep last night?" She smiled at me.

"Fine thank you. The baby woke me up as usual." She nodded and stood up.

"Come with me Clary, I finished the dress." Celine took my hand and guided me to her sewing room where a manikin with a cloth over it was standing in the center of the room. "I really hope you like it. I changed the material to a soft cream lace and merino cotton."

She pulled the sheet off of it and I gasped. It was beautiful. "Oh my God Celine. It's beautiful. Thank you." I hugged her.

"Clary dear you don't need to thank me. I would do anything for my future daughter in law. Now, I want to see you in my bedroom in 2 hours to get ready. Have a shower and was your hair before you come. Okay?" I nodded.

We both went our separate ways. I walked into our room to the smell of soap and aftershave.

Jace came into view, wearing just a towel wrapped around him and nothing else. "Hey, you want to go out for breakfast?"

I nodded, my stomach agreeing with me. I quickly got dressed and met Jace in the living room.

"Hey you ready to go?" He nodded and guided me out the house.

While Jace was driving I looked out the window to see all the people looking stress-free.

"What time did my mother tell you to be back at the house to get ready?" Jace asked rubbing my knee affectionately.

"In 2 hours." He laughed.

Soon we had something to eat and we still had a few minutes. "Come on Clary, I want to show you something." He dragged me along a path in the gardens and we stopped at a fountain.

"My mother always brought me here as a kid, it was always so beautiful and quiet. It still is." He turned to face me. "Clary. That night when we met was one of the greatest nights of my life, as soon as I saw you I belonged to you completely. I wouldn't take that away for anything, or when you told me that I was going to be a father. I never expected to fall in love or even become a father, you see I never believed love existed until I met you."

I cannot believe it, he knelt down and held out a velvet box. "Now Clary I know that this is out of the blue and we've only known each other for almost 6 months. Or that you think this is only because of baby Sophie, but I love you Clarissa Adele Fairchild and I will love you until I die, and if there is a life after that, I'll love you then." He opened the box and produced one of the most beautiful rings I ever saw. Tears were dripping down my face like crazy. "Clary, will you marry me?"

Oh my god this is really happening. I nodded. "Yes." Was all that came out when I crushed my lips onto his. Jace's arms instantly wound around me, pulling me closer, still minding my stomach. His lips molded against mine so perfectly and nothing ruined this moment. He pulled away from me resting his head against mine, both of us breathing heavily.

"Really?" Jace questioned. I nodded.

"I love you Jace, with all my heart." He pulled away from me holding he ring and held my left hand.

He slowly placed the ring on my finger and then kissing it. I held I hand up and admired the ring. It was so delicate, there was a round diamond in the middle and six next to it.

I loved it.

"I love you too Clare. I think we should head back now." He wrapped is arm around me, resting his hand on our baby and we slowly walked back to the car.

Once we got back to the house I went straight up to have a shower and wash my hair, as per orders. I turned the tap on and started getting undressed. Then I looked at the ring.

I do not want to lose it. So I clasped it to my necklace chain and around my neck.

Soon I was out and put on my matching white underwear and bra, plus a dressing gown and walked to Celine's room. I saw Jace walking down the stairs.

"Hey Jace." He turned around and smiled. "Do you mind if I tell your mother?"

He grinned wider. "Not at all, go ahead."

So I walked into her room, knocking first and the first thing I saw was the vanity table where make-up and hair accessories were laid out (Exactly like Isabelle's table).

Celine greeted me already dressed then told me to put the dress on, I followed her orders then sat down at the table where she started drying my hair and re-curling it.

She saw my ring. "Congratulations Hun." I smiled at her through the mirror.

"Thanks. Jace asked me this morning down by that fountain."

"That's nice. I always took Jace there as a kid it was always so beautiful. I'm so happy he asked you, he couldn't have picked a nicer person."

We chatted while she finished up and then she helped me into shoes, and a jacket. Adjusting the jacket Celine took note of my bump.

"Wow, when I was this far pregnant with Jace I was almost double your size. You're quite lucky." I nodded.

"Yeah, my doctor said because I'm so short and small, the baby won't grow to be average size."

"May I?" She gestured to touch my stomach. I grabbed her hand and rested it where I felt fluttering. "Wow… I forgot what this felt like. It's amazing."

We started to walk down to the entrance foyer. "You never tried for another baby after Jace?" She laughed sadly.

"I would've loved to have another baby but Jace was out of Jace and many hospital visits. I was never really compatible to have a baby, but Jace was a miracle… my miracle. Something went wrong during birth and that is why he has gold eyes. I'm just glad he met you."

"He's my miracle too. If I never met him I would never have a daughter on the way and I'll be forever alone. He's my rock through all of this and I love him. Thank you Celine for raising such an amazing boy."

I hugged her and we reached the front doors to see Stephen and Jace waiting there patiently.

"You ready?"

So tonight i was pissed about it then my dad asks if i have my wireless turned on. Turns out airplane mode was on so nothing connected. How idiotic am i?
